Chapter 335
Chapter 335
"That's because you harmed my birth mother," Billy said expressionlessly.
"You… You…." Jeffrey was so mad that he couldn't finish his sentence.
He looked at Billy's cold gaze and felt his heart sink. That was his biological son, but at this moment, his son's gaze was as though he was looking at a stranger.
He used to have a virtuous wife, smart and dutiful children, as well as a comfortable life. However, after falling in love with Angie, he divorced his wife, disconnected with his children, and threw away his comfortable life. In the end, doing time in prison was the only thing waiting for him.
After living prestigiously his whole life, he had nothing left at his age.
He was foolish for making the worst decision in his life after being blinded by love.
At this thought, he regretted it so much that he wanted to kill himself for being blinded and falling in love with Angie. However, it was too late for regrets now.
The police had solid proof now, and he couldn't escape his charges. What awaited him was a few years —no, possibly more than ten years of prison life.
…
Back at Sun Garden, Joel finally recovered after resting for two days.
Being at home for two days bored him to no end. He lay in Madeline's arms and acted like a baby.
"Mommy, since I've recovered already, can we go shopping? I want to go shopping with you!"
There was not much business in Mansion, so Madeline put her focus on her two children. It was not outrageous for Joel to request going outside to play, so she happily agreed to it. "Sure. Should we go with Quincy and Miss Leigh?"
"Yes!" He nodded delightfully. "Let's go with Alex as well!"
She stroked his head with a smile on her face. "Yes, we'll ask Alex as well!"
"Sigh, it's a shame that Daddy is not home." He sighed in disappointment. "It'll be nice if Daddy is home to go shopping with us!"
"Daddy's busy with work. When he's free, I'll ask him to come shopping with us again." She coaxed him.
"Okay." He nodded like a little adult. "When Daddy's not busy with work, I'll accompany him to go shopping."
Hearing that, Madeline was speechless. Who's accompanying who now?
She made a call to Leigh and asked her out. After changing clothes for the three children, she changed her own attire and went to the office in front to meet Leigh.
Once they were out, Joel skipped happily while holding Madeline's hand. "Mommy, can we eat outside tonight?"
Her heart was melting with his soft and little hand in hers. Thus, she couldn't bear to reject him. "Okay, but no junk food."
Joel blinked his big, inky eyes. "Okay… No burger, fried chicken, and fries, right?"
With a smile, Madeline stroked his little head. "That's right."
"Fine." After some thought, he asked, "What about a buffet?"
She thought for a moment and answered, "Okay, but I'm choosing the restaurant."
Some buffet restaurants were cheaper, but the food was not authentic, and there was a lot of junk food that the children liked to eat.
However, the buffet restaurant that Sebastian chose last time had many choices, and they were all healthy food without any junk food in sight. It was very suitable for children, so Madeline liked it after going there once.
Since her son liked to eat at buffets, that restaurant was the best choice.
"Okay!" Joel did not have any objections to it. "I'll like it as long as it's a buffet!"
"Good." She then turned around to ask Quincy and Alex, "Quincy, Alex, is it okay if we eat at a buffet tonight?"
Quincy nodded and replied, "Sure thing, Mommy."
Alex was fine with it too.
Madeline then looked at Leigh.
"Why are you looking at me?" With a smile, Leigh stroked Joel's head. "Joel is the youngest here. Of course we should follow what he says!"
"We'll follow what Quincy says next time." Joel held Quincy's hand and stuck his head out to look at Alex. "We'll listen to Alex the time after that."
"Our Joel is the sweetest!" Leigh patted his head while praising him.
Hearing that, Joel lifted his head and looked at her. "We'll follow what Miss Leigh says as well!"
"Goodness! Joel is so thoughtful! I love you so much!" She couldn't help but bend down and kiss him on his cheek.
Joel chuckled happily, and his beautiful eyes turned into crescents. He then skipped even more vigorously, filled with delight.
Since it was still early for dinner, the two adults and three children went shopping in the commercial area.
When they passed by a luxury store, Joel pointed at a handbag in the shop and said, "Look, Mommy! That bag is so pretty. It suits you well too. I'll buy it for you!" He grabbed Madeline's hand and dragged her into the direction of the store.
Her heart was melting with his soft and little hand in hers. Thus, she couldn't bear to reject him. "Okay, but no junk food."
"You'll buy it for me?" Madeline felt that he was being hilarious. "Joel, this is a luxury store. Everything here is expensive!"
"It doesn't matter!" he said ostentatiously. "I have money! Daddy gave me so much money!"
When she heard that, she had no comeback. How did I forget about that?
"Joel, I don't need a handbag. I don't want to buy it." In fact, she had the money to spend, but she was just used to being thrifty, so she didn't like to splurge.
"I want to buy it!" He dragged her into the store and pointed at a dress. "Mommy, this dress is so pretty too. You'll look very beautiful in it!"
Almost immediately, the staff chimed in and said, "You have good taste, little boy. This dress is a limited edition piece in our store. There's only one piece for every size. It really fits your elegant aura, Ma'am."
"Go and try it on, Mommy!" urged Joel as he swung Madeline's hand. "If it's nice, I can buy it for you as a present!"
"It's fine," Madeline said. "I have too many clothes. I don't need another one."
"You need it! You need it!" He nodded his little head forcefully. "You've worked so hard to take care of me when I'm sick. I want to buy you a present to thank you, Mommy!"
When Madeline heard that, she didn't know what to say. How can my son be so sweet and thoughtful?
She had never taught him that, so she didn't know from whom he had learned to be so thoughtful. At this moment, she was so touched and proud that she wanted to let the whole world know that her precious son was the sweetest and most adorable little angel in the world!
As Leigh watched this scene unfold from the side, she became increasingly jealous. "Gosh! How can Joel be so adorable?! Maddie, you're really tempting me to get married and have kids!"
Madeline rebuked, "Since when did I tempt you? Just say that you got tempted yourself!"
"Yes, that's right! I'm tempted! I'm just so jealous of you for having such good luck and giving birth to such cute sons! Wait until I meet the one that's right for me. I'll quickly get married and give birth too!" As Leigh was talking, she stuffed the dress that Joel chose into Madeline's arms and pushed her into the fitting room. "I, too, feel that this dress Joel has chosen for you suits you well. Quick, go and try it on."
