Chapter Prologue
Syl Luna was running down the halls of Una Academy, his shoes tapping against the cold stone floor. Screams could be heard from behind him, he ducked into the library and hid, locking the door behind him.
The library was shrouded in darkness. Syl panted as he heard heavy footsteps passing by the wooden door behind him. Rows and rows of books stood flanked him at each side, and by the far wall was a row of computers.
“I need to find out if Roisin is okay...” Syl said to himself, as he slowly made his way towards a desktop computer, as he made his way toward it, he looked left and right down the aisles of books, in case there was one of those... things in here with him.
The library seemed empty, the harsh light from outside bore down upon the room, illuminating the shelves in its cold white glow. Syl pressed the computer’s power button, and the old machine whirred to life, unlike his home city of Ishtall, the tech giant, Crystech, hadn’t seen fit to ‘uplift’ the city of Terrana, or it’s Academy.
Syl quickly tapped in his login information and the computer made a small login sound.
“Hurry...” Syl said frantically, as his foot tapped against the floor. One of the creatures screeched from outside the window, which made Syl slink further into the shadows. Once on the main screen, Syl quickly opened his email, and typed an address into the send-box, it read ‘[email protected]’ after which he typed out an email, describing the events of the last few hours.
Syl breathed a sigh of relief, as he sent the email to his sister, Roisin. At that moment, a banging could be heard on the door behind Syl.
He jumped up in surprise, he hadn’t expected to be found so fast.
“Syl! Let me in! She’s coming!” A girls voice called.
“Elyss!” Syl panicked as he ran over to the door and opened it. The body of Elyss fell to the ground, standing over her was a beautiful pale woman, with shoulder-length white hair, and white pupils, she wore a blue and white dress.
“Found you” The woman smiled.
“Who are you?” Syl asked, feeling terrified.
“I’m Lumina” The woman smiled. “I’ve been looking for someone with a soul like yours” She cackled.
“Stay back!” Syl shouted, as he summoned a shining green weapon, his ‘Celestial Warhammer’ and ran toward Lumina, yelling at the top of his voice.
“Sorry, kid” Lumina shrugged as she shot a white crystal into his chest.
“Argh...” Syl moaned as he fell to his knees, his weapon fading into dust. He looked at his hands and noticed his veins turning white. “What... no! Please!” Syl yelled, but the white energy flowed through his whole body, taking control of all his functions.
“You will be most useful” Lumina smirked, as she watched Syl stand up and salute her. “Most useful indeed” She chuckled as she gazed up at the cold white sky.
