Chapter 110
“It seems your ex–girlfriend didn’t tell you she came to see me,” Calla said coldly.
“Sophie came to see you?” Mercer looked surprised as he reached out and grabbed Calla’s wrist.
“Don’t touch me!” Calla tried to shake his hand off.
Mercer held her hand firmly but without the bone–crushing force he used yesterday.
The next moment, Mercer suddenly grinned.
“What’s so funny?” Calla thought he was extremely unpredictable. Moments ago, he had been yelling loudly enough to bring the roof down. Now, he was laughing.
“You’re jealous!” Mercer said. His eyes fixed on Calla.
“You… What nonsense are you talking about? Who’s jealous?” His words made Calla flustered.
She hurriedly denied it but didn’t dare look into his eyes–because he was right.
Her reactions these past few days had been driven by jealousy.
But besides a marriage that was only in name, what right did she have to be jealous? He didn’t love her.
Calla’s reaction pleased Mercer a little. He reached out to grab her chin. Then, he lifted her face, forcing
her to look at him.
“You’ve fallen for me, haven’t you?” Though phrased as a question, his tone was certain.
This made Calla quickly push his arm away. She turned to the couch–resting one hand on it–and denied his claim, albeit somewhat incoherently. “How could I like you? What a joke!”
“Calla, you can’t fool me.” He stepped closer behind her, looking down at her profile.
“To me, you’re nothing but the father of my child,” she managed.
His closeness made her heart tremble. His presence enveloped her completely, yet she still managed to utter words that contradicted her true feelings.
“Is that all?” Mercer grasped her shoulders and turned her around to face him.
Calla was forced to meet his gaze. At that moment, his eyes were entirely focused on her. All she could see in them was her own reflection.
Why was he asking her this? Why force her to admit she had feelings for him? Did he harbor some feelings for her as well?
No! He loved Sophie. He hadn’t gotten over her after all these years. How could he develop feelings for her in a few short months? Could it be that he felt guilty toward her?
But in his eyes, she saw a hint of burning emotion. She had been in relationships before and wasn’t unfamiliar with such feelings.
At this moment, Calla was confused. What should she do? Should she admit her feelings for him? Or should she take a chance, and compete with Sophie for him?

Chapter 110
How about never acknowledging her feelings? She could choose to turn away and sever all emotional
ties with him.
Mercer was waiting for Calla’s response when the doorbell suddenly rang. Jasmine went to answer it, while the two remained oblivious, still gazing at each other.
After a moment, Jasmine unexpectedly walked in with a girl wearing a black uniform. “Mrs. Garland, this lady is here to see you.”
Jasmine meant well. She had noticed Mercer and Calla arguing. When someone came to see Calla, she quickly brought the visitor in to divert their attention.
By this time, Mercer had already let go of Calla’s shoulders.
Calla secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The visitor came at the right time, as Calla still had no idea how to answer Mercer’s question.
“Excuse me, are you Ms. Sherman?” the girl in the black uniform asked politely.
