Chapter 0594
Soon, the bell rang, and class began. Paul entered, saying, “Today, we’ll be discussing molecular evolution and phylogeny…”
During the ten–minute break, Madison lay listlessly over her desk. Seeing this, Sebastian could no longer keep quiet. “You’ve been in really bad shape these past few days!”
Madison looked up in confusion. “You’re talking to me?”
“Yes, you!”
Surprisingly, Madison wasn’t upset; instead, she nodded in agreement. “I think so too!”
Sebastian was caught off guard.
“Look, I’m starving myself thin. I’ve never gone through anything like this before. Dieting is just too hard, so I’ve decided-”
“What?”
“I’m done! I’d rather be stuffed than starve!”
Sebastian just stared, speechless. That wasn’t what she said earlier.
Madison turned to them both with a grin. “How about I treat you and Miranda to lunch after class?” Without waiting for a response, she declared, “Alright, it’s decided!”
Sebastian and Miranda were speechless once again.
“So, what will it be? Steak? Barbecue? Or maybe Dolorianese or Yvonnian cuisine? We could even go for a seafood buffet, or burgers and fries, fried chicken, and cola. Actually… let’s try them all! A bit of everything!

Madison’s stomach grumbled in anticipation as she waited eagerly for the bell to ring. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the dismissal bell sounded.
Paul was standing at the podium. “That’s it for today. Class dismissed.”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Madison grabbed Miranda and Sebastian, dragging them out of the classroom so fast they barely left a trace.
Pau was going to ask Miranda to stay, but his words were left hanging in the air, unsaid, as she was already gone.
After the meal, Madison leaned back in her chair, her whole being radiating satisfaction. She’d come to a realization.
Why should she be the one to lose weight? Let anyone who wanted to diet do so–it wouldn’t be her! Even if she ever met a guy she liked, she wouldn’t go hungry for him.
As for Bryan… well, once she found out he had a girlfriend, she lost all interest. What self–respecting girl would chase after someone else’s boyfriend anyway?

Since they had no classes that afternoon, they all headed home after lunch. As Miranda reached her street, she spotted Paul walking ahead. Smiling, she ran up to him and gave his shoulder a playful poke.
Paul turned, but saw no one. Miranda had darted to his other side on purpose.
When he turned in that direction, she’d already slipped around to his other side, grinning like a mischievous child whose prank had succeeded.
Paul chuckled. “Good thing it was me–someone else might have been startled!”
“If it weren’t you, I wouldn’t have dared,” Miranda replied without thinking.
“And why’s that?” he asked, his gaze intensifying slightly.
She froze for a second, then answered with a straight face, “First, we’re friends, so I can joke around. Second, Dr. Jefferson, you’re tough and can take it.”
“And how exactly do I look like I can take it?” he asked, half–amused.
“Like you did now,” she replied confidently.
As they went upstairs together, Paul asked, “How are things going in Dr. Fischer’s lab?”
“Great! Dr. Fischer is really nice, and the equipment is brand new.”
“All settled in?”
Miranda was about to answer when a loud bark echoed from upstairs. Without time to react, a husky came barreling down the stairs.
All Miranda saw was a blur of black and white speeding toward her. Startled, she instinctively jumped to avoid it, her eyes squeezed shut.
The dog’s fur brushed her calf, and it bolted down to the next floor.
As she breathed a sigh of relief, Miranda then realized, somewhat awkwardly, that she’d jumped right into Paul’s arms!
