What Separates Me and You

The phone rang for a while before Lewis answered. Josephine hurriedly asked, "Are you still with Henry?"

"No, I'm just taking care of some matters. Go to bed early."

Lewis's reply was brief, and he hung up. Josephine stared at her phone, her brows furrowing.

Meanwhile, Yona trembled as she stared at the man before her. Feeling helpless, she clenched her sleeves.

Lewis casually dropped his phone on the table and looked at Yona.

Shivering, she lowered her head even further, her hands fidgeting.

"Do you know why I called you here?"

Nervously, Yona shook her head. "No, I don't. Is there something you need at this late hour, Chairman Alvarez?"

Standing beside them, Phineas reprimanded, "Stop playing innocent. You nearly got Mrs. Alvarez into trouble. Why are you playing dumb?"

Startled, Yona lifted her head. She looked at Lewis in disbelief. "M-Mrs. Alvarez?"

Lewis stared at her expressionlessly. "Do you get it now?"

Yona felt her heart almost leaped from her chest when she heard Lewis' response. A chill ran down her spine.

She stammered. "J-Josephine... is your wife?"

Lewis didn't answer her question. His patience was wearing thin. "Tell me, what's your relationship with Henry?" Yona hastily explained, "Mr. Lewis, I've only had a few drinks with Mr. Brown. Nothing else happened between us." "What about Josephine?"

"She..."

." Yona hesitated and stuttered. She was on the verge of tears.

She had fantasized about getting close to Lewis for so long. Now that she was facing him, she realized his presence was even more powerful than she had imagined when they first met. She felt suffocated under his presence.

Of course, it might be due to her feeling guilty.

"Sally, you only have one chance. Make the most of it."

Yona's pupils contracted as fear gripped her. She blurted out, "I confess. I lured Josephine there."

"I wanted to teach her a lesson. She had been making a fool out of me. I wanted to give her a taste of her own medicine. I knew that Mr. Brown would be visiting Elysium these few days and that he liked beautiful women. So I ..."

For the past few days, she had pretended to mend her way. She wanted Josephine to lower her guard and lure her to that place.

Yona also knew what Henry and others were up to in there. If Josephine had barged in and discovered their secrets, she would definitely get into trouble.

Who could have imagined that this Josephine was actually Lewis' wife?

She wouldn't even dare to dream about it!

She had never heard of Lewis getting married. How could he suddenly have a wife?

No matter the situation, Yona was terrified beyond words. Her legs trembled uncontrollably.

"That's downright malicious," Phineas said through gritted teeth.

Yona fell to her knees in fear. Her voice trembled as she said, "Chairman Alvarez, I was wrong. I really didn't know she was your wife. I wouldn't dare to do such a thing if I knew."

"How did you know Mr. Garcia from Quaddew Production?"

"He... He contacted me after watching my videos. He said he'll bring me to his company and make me a star after my contract ends."

"When was this?"

"Just about a week ago. I'm so sorry, Chairman Alvarez. I will never do it again. Please forgive me."

Lewis gently massaged his temples. He didn't look at Yona, nor did he say anything.

His silence made Yona feel like she was awaiting trial, and her tears welled up in fear.

After what felt like an eternity, Lewis waved his hand dismissively. "Take her away."

Wide-eyed, Yona crawled toward Lewis, pleading, "Chairman Alvarez, I really know my mistakes. Please spare me. I promise I won't cause trouble for Josephine anymore. I'll treat her like a goddess..." Phineas acted swiftly. He grabbed Yona as she was about to touch Lewis' pants and firmly clutched her arm before pulling her away.

"No, don't! Let me go! Chairman Alvarez, I was wrong. Please don't kill me! Help! Someone ..."

Yona's pleas were incoherent. She didn't even know why she felt like she was dying, but the feeling was overwhelmingly intense. She was genuinely terrified.

Conrad arrived just in time to see Phineas dragging her away.

"Where are you taking her?" Conrad asked.

Phineas replied, "I don't know. Chairman Alvarez asked me to deal with her. I guess I'll feed her to the dogs."

Conrad furrowed his brows and said disapprovingly, "Hold on, don't act on impulse. Let me talk to Chairman Alvarez."

Yona lunged toward Conrad as if he was her savior. Yet Conrad walked past her before she could reach him.

Conrad entered the room and approached Lewis. He hesitated before saying, "Chairman Alvarez, Yona has many followers online. If she suddenly disappears, it might cause unnecessary trouble. And things could become even more complicated if someone with ill intentions exploits this situation."

Lewis glanced at him. "Then how do you think we should deal with her?"

Conrad pondered briefly and suggested, "Let her lie low for now. Once her popularity fades, then we can take action."

Lewis leaned back against the sofa, staring at the tabletop in contemplation.

After a brief silence, he finally said, "Keep an eye on her."

"Understood. I'll ask someone to watch her closely and ensure she won't have a chance to escape."

Lewis stood up and walked past Conrad. He headed toward the exit of the company.

Conrad hurriedly caught up to open the car door for him.

Before entering the car, Lewis paused and looked at Conrad. "There are still Kiran's men in the company. Root them out."

Conrad blinked in surprise, his expression turning solemn. "Understood!"

Josephine wanted to wait for Lewis to return. However, she ended up dozing off on the bed. She was scrolling her phone and was unsure when she had fallen asleep.

In a daze, she felt a hand on her. Someone was kissing her.

A suffocating sensation woke her up. As she opened her eyes, she saw a man leaning over her.

She instinctively pushed his hand away. "What are you doing?"

Lewis held onto her hand, his gaze intensely locked onto her. Then, he whispered, "What else can a husband and wife do so late at night?"

Hearing what he said, Josephine felt a surge of anger within her.

"Who said we're husband and wife? You got the marriage certificate without telling me, and I never acknowledged it!"

"It doesn't matter if you acknowledge it or not, as long as the law acknowledges it." Lewis snuggled into her neck, his breath brushing against her. Josephine trembled.

This man had been acting normal for a few days. Now, his true nature was revealed again. Josephine was worried about him, but her concerns disappeared right away.

She forcefully pushed against his chest. "What's gotten into you now?"

Lewis kissed her neck and whispered, "Josie, let's have a baby." Josephine froze.

After a while, she suddenly scoffed.

Hearing her scoffing, Lewis lifted his head and saw her bitter yet mocking smile.

His fingers gently caressed her cheeks. "Didn't you say you like children?"

They trailed down to her lips. "I remember you said you prefer having daughters."

Josephine looked at him, her face turning dark. She clenched her fingers and said, "Make a guess. Were the two kids I aborted, boys or girls?"

Lewis fell silent. He stared at her.

A tinge of disappointment flashed in Josephine's eyes, "So you knew about the baby from last year. You knew it all along, didn't you?"
