What Are The Odds?: Chapter 26
Grace.
I woke up as light momentarily came through the crack in the open door. Levi quietly slipped through it, locking it behind him. He took his beanie off then ruffled his hair. Next was his jacket. He slipped it off his shoulders and set it over the back of his desk chair. I watched as his hands then got to work on his shirt. More and more skin became exposed with each undone button until the shirt was entirely gone. The glow from the TV was enough to see the hardness of his stomach. I was used to seeing fit boys. I swum with them each morning, competed beside them in conditioning. But none had ever looked like Levi. He was a different type altogether. He undid his belt, rolling it neatly. A moment later he was slipping out of his pants. I was too wired to even pretend I was sleeping. If he looked my way, I’d be busted. Once he went to the bathroom to brush his teeth, I forced my eyes closed. I continued to feign sleep when the blankets ruffled, and he slipped into the bed. Though that almost became impossible when Levi slid right beside me. I should have faced the other way, away from him. It was too late now. A heavy arm draped over me as he tugged me closer. I didn’t put up a fight. I lazily rolled against him, my head falling into the groove of his warm chest. Falling asleep sober beside Levi was very different to drunkenly passing out together. When Levi had asked me to stay tonight, it’d been so easy to say yes. The thought of my bed sounded cold and lonely now I was nestled against his warm body. Not to mention his bed was like a cloud. I seriously needed to check the brand of his mattress topper because it was the most marshmallow-like bed I’d ever slept in. Levi tenderly stroked my cheek before lowering his head and kissing my forehead. The act was up. My eyes snapped open.
“I knew you were awake,” Levi murmured, lips frozen in a sly smile.
“You just woke me,” I lied.
He didn’t act convinced at all.
“I found Ava and Stella. They’ve gone out with some of the guys from the football team.”
“And Ryker?”
Levi stiffened. “I let him know not to wait up.”
“You hate him, don’t you?”
I studied Levi’s reaction. We were so close, basically nose to nose, and I was totally at ease. It was strange feeling so comfortable around a guy I’d barely known a month. Particularly one girls literally tripped over their feet in front of.
“I don’t hate him, I–” He cut himself off. “I hate that he kissed you.”
He ran this thumb across my lower lip. I inhaled sharply.
“And I hate that you kissed him back.”
I swallowed. “Why did you hate that?”
Levi’s eyes darkened. “Do you want me to tell you or show you?”
My heart was beating faster than it had after any race. Though even between the erratic pumps, I somehow managed to mumble two words.
“Show me.”
Levi didn’t miss a beat. His mouth closed over mine hurriedly, causing a moan to get wedged in my throat. His tongue danced through my parted lips before finding mine. His breath was minty from having just brushed his teeth. When he groaned, it caused the rest of my body to wake up. Every part of me was responding to him. My nipples. My core. Lower again. The stubble on his jaw was rough beneath my fingertips. But despite the reputation, there was nothing rough about this guy in front of me. When I tightened my legs around the thigh he’d wedged between them, Levi rolled onto his back and dragged me with him. Lying on top of him, I was free to explore. I took full advantage. I trailed my fingers down his chest, revelling in the hardness. When I reached the elastic of his boxers I kept going until I reached a hard bulge. One much bigger than I was used to handling. Levi strained against me as I stroked him.
“Fuck, Grace,” he groaned, kissing me harder. “We don’t have to do that.”
“We have to do something. You can’t wire me up like that and expect me to just go to sleep.”
I was surprising myself with how eager I was to move things along. But simply kissing him had awoken a desire in me I hadn’t felt before, and one I couldn’t ignore. Chuckling deeply, Levi rolled us over so that he was hovering over me. I liked having his weight above me. Levi was all man. Long limbs and hard muscles. I drank him in. Every inch. His hand trailed down my body, leaving a stream of goose bumps in its wake. He hoisted up the clothes of his I was wearing before running his fingers over my damp underwear. I ground my hips against his hand, conveying the permission he was waiting for. He pushed my underwear aside. I was so wired I almost combusted from that act alone. He pulled my bottom lip between his teeth before covering my mouth with his. I loved the way Levi kissed. It was skilful and thought out, not hurried and sloppy. I would be lying if I said I hadn’t imagined kissing him. Now I had, I knew I would compare any future kiss to this.
“As much as I want to taste you,” he huskily said, nipping my jaw. “I want to see your face when you come all over my fingers.”
Oh. My. God. His mouth was dirty. But also a major turn on. He finally stopped toying with me and slipped a finger inside. I fluttered my eyelids closed to disguise the fact my eyes were rolling to the back of my head. I couldn’t believe we were doing this. Was I a sucker for wanting Levi like almost every other girl? Maybe. Did I care? Absolutely not. Not when his hands were doing what they were doing. He slipped in another finger, while bringing his thumb to rub back and forth over my clit.
“You’re so fucking wet, Hughesy.”
He licked my throat.
“And those sounds you’re making are so fucking hot.”
I think I whimpered. It was hard to tell. I was feeling all sorts of things I hadn’t felt before. My brain was struggling to keep up with the sensations. I slipped my hands lower against his stomach. I didn’t get far before he was pinning them in place by pressing our bodies together.
“This is about you,” he whispered, his mouth returning over mine.
Levi could multitask. His tongue and fingers worked in tangent, getting me closer and closer to the edge. I rocked against his hand. He responded by increasing the pace.
“Do you like how that feels, Hughesy?”
My voice came out shaky. “Mmhm.”
My breaths were getting quicker and quicker. I was practically writhing beneath Levi. With his spare hand he palmed my breast, squeezing it. My body arched into his grip.
“I’ve thought about this moment,” he breathed. “You beneath me, cheeks flushed.”
“Wh – when?”
“When have I thought about you?”
I managed a pathetic nod.
“When I’m alone at night. In this very bed. With my hands wrapped around my–”
“Levi!”
My orgasm rocked through me, catching me off guard. I clutched at Levi’s arms, nails digging into his biceps as my legs began to tremble. It took longer than normal to come back down. That had been the most intense orgasm of my life. When I finally opened my eyes, I found Levi watching me. His eyes were hooded and pooling with lust. Usually I’d feel a little shy in this moment, particularly after losing myself like that, but I didn’t feel that way with Levi. He looked as though he’d enjoyed himself as much as I had.
“You good?” he checked.
I nodded.
“Can you talk?”
I shook my head.
He rumbled a laugh. “Come here.”
He rolled onto his back, tugging me to lie on his chest. Now my relentless panting had stopped, I remembered a party was happening downstairs. Far away music vibrated the floor. For a while there, nothing outside of this room had existed. Levi’s hand travelled up and down my back, his fingertips cutting shapes and patterns. Despite having just had his fingers between my legs, I was so comfortable here, with him. Equally as comfortable as I had been this morning. When we’d done nothing but sleep. As explosive as those last few minutes had been, I couldn’t help but question whether we’d just crossed a damaging line. I liked spending time with Levi. And as much as I was attracted to him, now I wasn’t distracted by his lips or fingers, I couldn’t help but wonder if we’d just ruined a good thing.
