We'll End Up In Hell Boys

Chapter 15

After what felt like an hour, which was only ten minutes, we arrived at the hospital. I quickly stepped outside and took a deep breath. The whole ride was nerve-racking because I was on Dorian’s lap. It was so awkward for me but I thought that Dorian was too relaxed, which confused me even more.

“Let’s go,” Roy said as the rest got out of the car. He walked towards Jino and helped him lean on his shoulder as they walked. He looked worse than when he woke up and he needed to be treated right away.

“I’m so sorry, Diva, but look at the bright side, the bleeding finally stopped,” Keri said with a sheepish smile and hugged me. I winced due to my backache. “Your back too?” she added with a helpless expression and I just sighed.

“Dorian’s legs did that when you stopped the car, it’s okay. Don’t sweat it for now, you will make it up by baking an apple pie and then you will be completely forgiven.” I offered and she smiled.

“Deal!” she said as we entered the hospital and she walked to the staff room and put on her work clothes. “Now, Jino, let’s let the doctor have a look at your hand. The rest, you can wait in the waiting room and do whatever you want, as long as it’s reasonable.” Keri instructed and lead us to the waiting room while holding Jino by the shoulder.

“Yes!” we heard a woman cheer from afar as she saw Keri and Keri rolled her eyes.

“Save it!” she said as she went with Jino to a different room. I guessed that the woman was her friend with the challenge. She must have felt pure joy as to how she won the challenge and I pitied Keri, yet at the same time, it was a nice challenge to discover one’s self.

“Now what?” Roy asked us as we saw the people in the waiting room, waiting.

“We entertain bored kids,” I said as I saw a group of children pouting on the floor. I walked towards them and smiled. “Hello there,” I said but got no reply. I titled my head, then I remembered that we were in Brazil and they probably didn’t understand English. I looked at the boys and smiled. “Who knows a game that does not involve speaking?”

Lance raised his hand and walked towards the kids. He looked at the toys and picked up three balls then started throwing them around in a circular motion and the kids’ eyes sparkled with joy. “Go, Lance!” Dorian cheered for his friend and we clapped along with the children. After a while, he stopped jiggling the balls and pulled out a coin from his pocket. He did a number of tricks with it, he even entertained the adults. So he was not just an idiot cop!

It took us half an hour until Keri came back. “It’s all good now, the doctor stitched his wound and his fever went down. He’s just in the bathroom, when he comes, back take him home and explain what happened to his family.” She said and we nodded. “Now, I will get back to work, yay me!” she added and I pushed her gently as encouragement but I regretted doing it.

As she was about to head back, a man started yelling and ran towards Keri. He held her by her throat against the wall. “Onde está o médico?” he yelled and kept on shocking her. She couldn’t reply to him as he was about to kill her.

Before any of the boys or the security man could get to them, a man, with a scar on his neck, grabbed the man by the neck in a shocking clutch and dropped him on the floor. The crazy man tried to get up but the scar man held him down until the security man put on the handcuffs and lead him to a different room. It all happened too fast. “Wait…” Keri called, breathless, for the security and said something in Portuguese. The man nodded and walked out with the crazy man.

“Are you okay?” I helped her sit on a chair as she touched her neck and took deep breaths. “What did you say?” I asked regarding the security man and she sighed.

Another nurse gave her a cup of water and she drank it before answering my question. “The man asked for the doctor. I thought it was urgent that he’d kill a nurse just to know where is the doctor, I just made sure that the security man knew that. He is either in need of a doctor because someone was dying, or because of the bad news he received from the hospital. If it was the first option, I didn’t want anyone to die because of me.” She explained and we were dumbfounded, even the scar man. She managed to think of the man’s side of the story while being shocked. It was admirable.

“An impressive way of thinking. You have a pure soul, indeed.” The scar man said and he smiled at her. As I looked at him, he kind of resembled someone I knew but I couldn’t put my hand on it. He was handsome though, and I could see Keri blush.

“Thank you for saving me, I really am grateful.” She replied and shook his hand.

“Cidro?” We heard Jino call as he entered the room, and we saw him looking at the scar man. “What are you doing here? Are you hurt?” Jino asked with a worried expression as he checked the man from head to toe.

“Dad, I’m fine. I’m here to see a friend.” He cleared and we looked at the both of them with astonishment. Small world. “More importantly, are you okay? What happened to your hand?” he asked Jino.

“I will explain later. Just don’t call your mom, I will tell her.” He replied.

The silence was piercing the air so I decided to break it. “Banana!” I said the first thing that came to my mind and all of them looked back at me with confused expressions. “Don’t ask. Jino, Cidro saved Keri a moment ago. I think your ‘debt’ has been repaid.” I said and Keri’s eyes widened but then she nodded.

“Yes, your none existent debt has been repaid by your son, I’m forever grateful. Thank you, once again.” Keri agreed and Cidro rubbed the nape of his neck and blushed. Maybe blushed. It was hard to tell since he was too tall for me to make sure.

“Son, you should put a ring on it before it’s too late,” Jino commented as Cidro and Keri stared into one another. They broke their staring contest and looked at Jino with wide eyes.

“Oh yes! I love you even more Jino.” I said and high fived him. “Don’t you agree, boys?” I asked them and they nodded with sheepish grins.

“Dad!”

“Divana!”

“I think we should run…” Jino whispered and we all ran out of the hospital as the son and the daughter in law ran behind us. Yep, they do suit each other.
