Chapter 25

It was none other than the woman that Lucille had run into in the corridor earlier.

Next to her was a handsome man in a black suit. He gave off a powerful vibe like Spencer did, to the point where people felt pressured in his presence.

However, the two men had their differences. Clearly, this man was even more aloof and detached. Even though Spencer could also be quite cold, at least he seemed human.

When Ethan saw that their newest guest was none other than lan Moore, he said snidely, “lan, you’re finally here. We waited for you for so long that the food has already gone cold. This time, Spence isn’t the last one to arrive.”

During their past gatherings, Spencer was always the last one to arrive.

lan said nothing. Instead, it was the woman next to him, Eunice Lennon, who spoke first. “Sorry, there was something I had to take care of. That’s why we were delayed.”

After Eunice said that, Ethan didn’t dare say another word.

“Eunice, Luke is always saying stupid things. Just ignore him,” Zachary said. It was out of character for him to say something so reasonable.

lan’s expression was icy. Without saying a word, he pulled out a chair and took a seat. Eunice sighed slightly but gave Zachary a nod and a smile in lieu of a greeting.

Her smile was as gentle as the rest of her demeanor, Every movement of hers gave off the elegant air of a respectable debutante.

She only noticed the woman sitting next to Spencer after she sat down and was caught by surprise Spencer had finally found a woman.

She had totally forgotten that she had bumped into Lucille and Spencer earlier.

Lucille was always a more reserved person who never initiated a greeting with people. Thus, it was Eunice who gave her a smiling nod first, to which she answered with a small smile.

At that moment, a deep voice rang out. “Spence, is this our future sister–in–law?”

lan’s sharp gaze fell on Lucille.

Lucille met his gaze head–on. She knew that lan was Bailey’s uncle. She had heard that he hadn’t lived in Whiteloop City since he was young. Instead, he lived in the neighboring city, Audale, and was known as the host there. Unexpectedly, despite not having lived in Whiteloop since he was younger, he managed to become good friends with the others.

“lan, she’s not your future sister–in–law. She already is,” Spencer said while taking a sip of tea.

It was clear that Spencer and the others had great respect for lan. Ever since lan arrived, they stopped

horsing around, especially Zachary and Ethan. They even seemed to have toned down their

recklessness.

“It’s nice to meet you, lan, Eunice,” Lucille said in greeting. She looked at lan and then at Eunice, who was keeping her head low. 1

lan narrowed his dark eyes. After staring at Lucille for several seconds straight, he suddenly burst out laughing. “Very nice. I expected nothing less than a woman Spence would fall for.”

It was just a simple dinner. Most of the time, it was the men who did the talking, while Lucille and Eunice just listened. Still, she had Spence, so it wasn’t totally mind–numbing. He always considered her feelings.

But it was different from Eunice. From the start to the end, she never uttered a word to anyone, nor did she try to join the conversation. During the meal, she ate quietly. After she was done, she just sat there quietly with her head lowered. Her presence was nearly negligible.

And lan never paid his bored wife any mind.

At 9:00 pm, they adjourned and returned to their respective homes.

Inside a luxurious, black Lincoln, the air felt gloomy and oppressive.

“So why did you come to Whiteloop City?” a dark and cold voice boomed. It sounded completely flat without a trace of emotion in it.

And it was because of that that it was so terrifying.

Eunice tried to stem her fear, but her stiff and tense body gave her away. The hands she placed on her knees were fidgeting uncontrollably. 1

Raising her head, she saw lan leaning back in the car with his eyes closed. Then, she said slowly, “I–I knew you were coming to Whiteloop, so I followed you.”

Actually, that wasn’t true. She was here to see a friend.

lan snorted coldly and kept his eyes shut. Then, he uttered indifferently, “Oh, really?”

Panic flashed in Eunice’s eyes, but she hummed assuredly.

In front of lan, she was always this pathetic. She was always walking on eggshells around him. She had spent the past five years like this.

And, she knew that he wasn’t interested in her business nor would he look into it, so long as she didn’t cross the line.

Meanwhile, Lucille sat in the passenger seat of a Maybach while watching the bright lights illuminating the night sky flash past her outside the window.

Beside her, Spencer admired her beautiful side profile.

As she looked at the night sky outside, he watched her.

Engrossed in her own world, Lucille didn’t notice this until she heard a deep, magnetic voice utter her name in her ear. “Lucy.”

lights inside the car, she could see Spencer’s handsome face, which looked like it was chiseled by a divine being himself.

“Yes, what is it?” she asked.
