Chapter Warming 18
Chapter 18
Do you need help? Lucille asked. She stood behind Spencer. She’d felt a little embarrassed sitting around while he bustled around the kitchen. She didn’t know how to cook but could still help with certain simple tasks.
Spencer turned to see her guileless eyes darting around. He asked, “How about you wash and slice the vegetables?”
“Sure!” Washing and slicing vegetables was about the only thing she could do. It was what she used to help Bailey with when she came over to cook for her.
She rolled her sleeves up and grabbed the vegetables that had been laid out. She got to work. Spencer lowered his head slightly to see her washing and slicing seriously.
He smiled slightly at the sight. He’d never felt like this before. It was an odd feeling. He seemed to be filled with satisfaction and happiness. He wanted things to be like this for the rest of their lives.
Lucille was engrossed in her task when she suddenly felt a It of electricity shoot through her, starting from her ear. She stopped abruptly, not even daring to move.
Spencer had moved to stand behind her. If she moved, she would come into contact with him. He tried awkwardly to tie her hair so it wouldn’t get in the way. He tugged a few strands off in the process, but she didn’t dare to show him that it hurt. Finally, he was done. “There we go.”
Lucille turned to look at him. Her voice was a little shaky as she said, “T–Thanks.”
God, she bet her face and neck were red. She could feel herself burning up. Spencer’s cool fingers had brushed against her ears and neck earlier, which had been torturous. She couldn’t stand his subtle flirting. And this was the first time a man had tied her hair for her.
Their kitchen dalliance ended like that. An hour later, Lucille looked at the mouthwatering dishes laid out before her. She was practically drooling over them.
Spencer got her a bowl of soup and told her to drink it before eating. She did as told. After a sip, she said, “This is delicious!”
It had been cooked to perfection. It really suited her tastes. She tried the fish filets and honey–glazed pork ribs next. Everything tasted delicious.
The filets were crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and the pork ribs

had just the right balance of sweetness and savoriness. They were simple dishes, but she couldn’t help wanting to have more The filets and the pork ribs taste good.
Spencer felt his appetite grow when he saw how much Lucille was enjoying the food
She had to admit he was a great cook. When she’d finally had her fill, she didn’t want to move anymore. It seemed she’d had a little too much to eat.
Spencer, being the good husband he was, started clearing the table. Lucille felt awkward again when she saw him bustle around.
Once Spencer had finished cleaning up the kitchen, he returned to the living room to see Lucille sitting on the couch with her face scrunched up. He approached her and asked, “Did you have too much to eat?”
She looked up at him. Her expression was a little upset. She nodded. The food had tasted so good that she’d lost control of herself and eaten too much.
Spencer said helplessly, “Get up and walk around a little. Sitting there won’t help with digestion.”
If he’d known things would turn out like this, he would’ve stopped her from overeating earlier.
“I don’t wanna move,” Lucille said. She meant it.
Spencer watched her for a while. Then, he easily pulled her to her feet from the couch. She looked like she couldn’t even bring herself to stand up straight. She was dispirited.
