Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Naomi’s voice was soft as she gently ran her fingers over the rundown tables and chairs of the orphanage. “I thought I was going to die, but I survived. Then I realized that my sister wished me to die when I refused to donate blood to her.”
“Do you know who my sister is?” Naomi’s lips twisted in a wry smile, speaking as if narrating someone else’s story. “It’s the woman you donated blood to a few days ago.”
After a short pause, she continued, “It’s Rosalind, the eldest daughter of the Edwards family. The man who brought you there is Freddy from the Sanders family. He’s also my ex–boyfriend. My ex and my sister have been secretly together behind my back for a long time. Every time my family mistreated me, he would pretend to be a nice guy.”
Then she sighed, “I can’t believe I fell for it. I valued him so much, but all I got in return was a lie from start to finish.”
In the end, she told Zoey the purpose of her visit. “Ms. Allison, Rosalind has a rare blood disease. She needs someone to donate blood to her regularly. I know you urgently need money, and I can offer you a better price than Freddy, and you won’t have to harm your body.”
Naomi didn’t beat around the bush. Zoey needed money desperately, and long–term blood donation for Rosalind was extremely harmful to Zoey’s health.
Zoey pondered for a while before slowly speaking. “How much money can you offer me?”

Naomi answered, “Ten times higher than Freddy’s offer. I’ll renovate the orphanage and get the best doctors for your brother. I’ll cover all medical expenses.” Naomi added, “Finally, I’ll expose those

Zoey stared at Naomi for a long time before saying, “Well, your parents dislike you. Rosalind doesn’t care where do you get so much money?”

about you,
and Freddy used you. So,
Naomi just smirked. She pulled out all the cash Shawn had given her from her bag and then took out that black card.
She said, “I only brought this much cash, but this is a globally limited black card with no spending limit, free to use as I please. The Edwards family doesn’t give me money, but that doesn’t mean I can’t earn it myself. If you’re willing, Ms. Allison, you can work with me.”
Zoey looked at the thick stack of cash Naomi pulled out, admitting to herself she was tempted. This amount was much more than what Freddy offered.
“Freddy is from the Sanders family, and you can look up the Edwards family. They’re rich, but the reward they offer you is only three times the regular selling price for blood. Ms. Allison, how many times do you need to sell your blood to cover your brother’s surgery costs?” Naomi spoke slowly, her tone still calm and her face relaxed, showing no emotion. She knew Zoey was already swayed.
Zoey was loyal, kind, righteous, and indignant. Her parents died in a car accident, and her uncle’s family took the compensation money meant for her parents, treating her and her brother horribly. They often went hungry and cold, and one snowy night, her uncle’s family threw them out.
That night, young Zoey carried her younger brother through the snowstorm, walking all night until she passed out at the gate of Children’s Home. The director of the orphanage saved them.
Sunshine
The director trusted the orphanage to Zoey on the deathbed. Zoey managed it diligently, hoping to give each child a better future. But then, her brother fell ill and needed a lot of money for surgery and medical expenses.
Zoey tried to get help from her uncle’s family, but it had been too long. They not only refused to help but also blamed her for making them poor. Her aunt even dragged her into the house, and Zoey, alone, came back with injuries without getting a penny.
She hated her uncle’s family. She also hated people who watched others die without helping them. Especially Freddy, who offered her such a low price for her blood, acting as if he was doing her a favor.
Zoey closed her eyes, pondered, and finally said, “Ms. Edwards, I agree. Save my brother, fix up the orphanage, make those thieves return the philanthropic dollars, and help me get my parents‘ compensation back. Then I’ll do whatever you ask me to.”
Naomi nodded slightly, “Alright, it’s a deal. You’ll work for me from now on. You must get my permission before you do anything.”
Zoey nodded, “OK”
Zoey desperately needed money. It didn’t matter if she sold her blood to Naomi or Freddy. The only difference was that Naomi was a kind boss while Freddy was a heartless businessman. Zoey wasn’t dumb. She naturally wouldn’t choose the heartless one.

“Zoey, I’ll take your brother to the hospital today. Do you have any objections?“Naomi asked.
Zoey bowed, her eyes red. “Ms. Edwards, thank you. I swear I’ll be loyal to you forever. If I betray you, may bad things happen to me and my brother never find happiness.”
Naomi helped her up. Zoey’s brother was her everything. Swearing on his happiness showed her loyalty.
“I believe in you,” Naomi said.
Tears finally flowed down Zoey’s face. “Ms. Edwards, thank you. I’m truly grateful.”
Naomi said, “Let’s go, we’ll take your brother to the hospital first.”
Before leaving, Naomi called Chandler, asking him to find people to renovate the orphanage and arrange temporary housing for the children.
Chandler responded respectfully, “Mr. Fischer has already given the orders. It’s all taken care of, Ms. Edwards. You can rest easy.”
Naomi bit her lip.“I’ll thank Mr. Fischer personally when I’m back.”
Zoey’s brother, Frankie, was only sixteen. He should have been a vibrant teenager, but his illness left him bedridden and suffering pain endlessly.
When he was taken to the best private hospital in the city and placed in a VIP room, he still couldn’t believe it. He kept asking Zoey, “Rosalind, can I really get better? Will I really get well? I won’t die, right?”
Zoey kept comforting him. “Yes, you will not die. getting better.”
we cure you, you’ll go back to school and you can even date. Everything will just keep
Frankie smiled at her with all his white teeth. “I
“Sure,” Zoey nodded.
WE Rosalind, I’ll
repay Ms. Edwards. She’s a good person.”
After comforting Frankie, Zoey stepped out of the ward. Naomi was outside on the phone. Kelly was on the other end of the line, mentioning that the website owner wanted to meet Naomi personally to discuss the adaptation details.
