Chapter 22 Shane and Kiara
Recap:
“How soon?” Gabriella enquired.
“Evening. Today.” Lorraine looked me in the eye.
Achilles Argent P.O.V
I went over to the psychiatric ward where my son was held. Over the weeks, his trauma and depression of losing both his sons drove his sanity away.
My heart ached as I saw him the way that he was through the small glass attached to his ward door. He broke in half as his wife passed away, yet he could not withhold losing his sons.
Lucifer.
The thought of him makes my hands turn into fists.
How could he betray us? Have we not given him the fortune desired by millions? Yet, he turned his back on us for that filthy mongrel bitch.
Somethings off though. I turned away from the ward, making my way towards the exit of the hospital.
How has the pack not reacted to retreat their beloved young Luna and especially the future heirs to the throne?
What are they planning?
I jumped into my car, and as I was driving on the highway, my phone rang. I clicked on the green call button as my phone was connected via Bluetooth in my car.
“Sir. Urgent news.” I heard one of my men speak.
“Proceed,” I said.
“Creatures have been spotted lurking our clan house.” He stated.
“Wolves of course?” I smirked. Finally.
“Negative.” He replied.
My smirk dropped.
“Then, what is it?” I questioned.
“We d-don’t really know sir, but they seem to have a speed that is faster than a werewolf.
It can’t be.
Vampires.
But why?
“Ready the vervain, we have some cats to slay.” I noted.
Laverna Reine P.O.V
“Lucinda.” I called out my daughter.
“Yes, mother?” She raised an eyebrow at me.
“It’s today.” I stated.
“Today, today?” Lucinda asked with wide eyes.
“Lorraine just called.” I nodded my head.
“The knights are not ready.” Lucinda said.
“Make them ready then.” I said.
“The spies are back.” Someone shouted from afar.
My two spies, ironically also soulmates, a girl and a guy, walked up to my presence before kneeling as respect.
“Rise and report.” I ordered.
Kiara P.O.V
“There are around two hundred men in the clan house, security doors and cameras almost at every corner of the building, and perimeter.” My mate, Shane reported to our Queen.
“The best time to attack would be during lunch as most of the men have their break.” I opinioned.
“They are outnumbered anyways, but did they spot any of you lurking near there?” The Queen asked.
Before, I could say anything Shan cut in. “No, your highness.”
“You know of the consequences if they do, it would put our whole plan at risk.” She stated.
“Yes, we do know your highness.” Shane braced.
“Very well, dismissed.” Our Queen excused us.
With our super-speed, we ran back to our house that we currently moved in once Shane and I got engaged.
He changed his clothes to something that was a bit more comfortable before laying down on the bed.
I changed too before sitting down next to him but I could not keep silent.
“Why did you lie about them not spotting me?” I asked.
“She’d take back your sun ring and banish you. I can’t have that.” He said.
“But we’ve put the whole vampire clan in danger, Shane.” I said, feeling sad.
Shane sighed before sitting up and facing me.
“I don’t care about the clan; I care about you.” He lifted his right hand caressing my left cheek.
“But this is wrong. Our loyalties also pledge to our queen. We need to say something. Our friends’ lives are in danger.” I told.
“I can’t hold such a burden on my shoulders, you’d still be here, and safe. It’s okay.” I touched his bottom lips to reassure him.
“Then what?” Shane asked angrily.
“You think I can live without you?” He screeched.
I looked down biting the inside of my cheek.
“Then come with me, we don’t need this luxury, we could build a cabin somewhere in the woods, and start a life of our own.” I suggested.
Shane looked into my eyes.
He gave me a short assuring smile. “Anywhere for as long as It’s with you.” He whispered before engulfing me in a warm hug.
Suddenly, the emergency war bell of the castle was set off, snapping mines and Shane’s attention toward it.
“It’s time.” Shane said.
What?
Oh no.
We could see it from our bedroom balcony view where the soldiers have already started transforming into their original form of grey with batwings sticking behind them, ready to fly in the queen’s command.
“We need to stop them now!” I exclaimed.
