Chapter 55
Trigger Warning: Suicide
Demon POV
The screams filled the air as we invaded the lands
The pack members tried to fight but was slaughtered without a struggle.
The fighters in this pack were more like slave guards then anything but something felt off.
Onyx must have felt the same.
She looks around the area as we slowly make our way to their pack house, “Something is wrong. Why hasn’t any of the slaves tried to leave?”
I look in the direction Onyx points to and see them cowering but not moving to safety like the others have told them to.
The four-story pack house was surrounded by slaves staring at us with blank dead eyes.
Their eyes left a sense of dread in my core.
What the hell are they going to do?
We stopped just in front of the slaves as the pack finished killing the rest of the slave pack.
The last scream died and left a silence with a bitter taste in my mouth.
In the corner of my eye, I can see a little girl with dark skin, curly hair, and deep brown eyes holding fear in them as she looked between the slaves and us.
“We will not keep living like this!” a man on the roof yelled as other slaves appeared on roofs of other buildings.
“Chieftains there are slaves her with knives and on the roofs like they are-”
My eyes widen as I see the little girl holding a knife to her throat. Dread shreds through my body, “They’re going to kill themselves.”
“We will not go to a pack worse than this hell. I will die on my terms NOT YOURS”
The man tilts his body forwards and everything slowed.
The others on the roof tilted and fell forward as well.
I run towards the girl as she raised a shaking hand to her throat like the ones on the ground.
More blood filled the air, but joy and excitement were not accompanying them.
The girl let a tear slide down her face before she adds pressure to her neck trying to slit her own neck open.
I grab her and yank the knife away from her body before she can even attempt to make the slide.
I hold the child’s face into my chest as I can feel her tears wet my chest.
Their determination to escape a worst fate left their bodies disfigured and broken. Covered in blood and some still gurgling.
The child is trembling and clinging to me as the thuds of bodies continued for the next couple of moments.
There were no more bodies falling from buildings but the sounds of their screams and gurgling increased. I look to Onyx as she held an elder man gently as he was mumbling asking her to kill him since he couldn’t do it.
Confusion ran through the pack link.
Onyx blinked back tears, not succeeded.
I tried to think of a way to help her but couldn’t move.
All I could do was hold the child closer to me.
These people killed themselves in front of us. They wished to escape
Shadow gently pushes me to the side taking control of the situation.
“Make sure that all of them have a quick death and will no longer suffer.”
The pack did what they were told and killed off the rest quickly and gently. The psychos even stood to the side and waited.
Silence took over, the last of the suffering put to rest.
Mika’s deeper voice takes over, “Take these poor souls’ bodies and place them in the house. Remove the members and we will give them a funeral pyre. That way even their ashes are as free as their souls. To do whatever they wish for all eternity.”
Silence returned in the most humbling way as it was soon time to let them rest.
The pack house set on fire easily. The smell of burning bodies was nauseating but knowing that they are now free in both body and soul made it barrable.
The psychos stood and watched for a moment before they each grabbed a body of the disgusting pack and went deep into the forest to eat their meals.
One by one the rest of our pack left, going back home until it was just me and Onyx.
The child clung to Sonja when I handed her over.
The roar from the fire filled the night silence. Onyx finally lets a sigh as a tear makes an appearance.
“I didn’t think that they had it worse than us. Hell, I didn’t think anyone had it any worse than us. And yet they did, to the point that each every one of them wished to die. What kind of hell did they go through?”
Slowly I wrap my arms around her, “I don’t know but it makes me wonder if the other slaves that didn’t come with us are alive.”
The light from the fire showed the tears on her face, her lips waver as she softly wipes a well-hidden tear from my face.
The morning sky came over the haunting lands as we both held each other over the lost that we just witnessed and the facts that have been shown to us.
The undeniable fear they had of possible going to another hell worse than the one they were in.
The fact that our past was horrible but there may be others who had it so much worse than us and are not able to handle it mental.
We cried for the souls lost and promised to take care of all the ones responsible for the pain they have spread across the lands.
The hate in Onyx eyes seems to grow as did mine. We’ll burn our past and rid the world of disgusting filth that love to call themselves as masters or King.
They will die by our hatred that grew through their actions.
Any thought of possible mercy for the other leaders are completely annihilated.
Redemption is unfathomable and irredeemable for them and for us.
The pack was silent after we returned as if to leave us in peace or maybe as a sign of remorse for the ones that died unnecessarily.
At my desk, Onyx pulls out the three pitch black envelopes with a silver wax seal introducing a weeping willow tree, “Demon there is one more letter I wish to write.”
Nodding I gently smile to her, “You can write whoever you wish my love.”
Taking a deep breath, “I’m going to write to the slaves of my old pack. I feel as if the same thing will happen to them if they felt like they had no choice. Also, there is a doctor there that will be of some use to us.”
“I agree. I was just going to tell you that I was going to do the same thing.”
I grab a piece of paper and a pen, sitting in front of my desk so she can take the chair. I hesitate before writing a letter to the slaves of my old pack as well.
Leave the pack but if that is not possible then have a red dot on your forehead every night of the New moon otherwise, die with the rest of the pack.’
Hopefully they do it and not believe that it is a prank or anything like that.
I look to Onyx just as she finishes the wax seal for the new letters now with a purple wax seal willow tree.
Through the pack link, “Esmeralda, Zhaire, and Amos please come to my office”
Onyx lets out a small laugh, “You made it sound like they are getting asked to come to principal’s office.”
Playing with her hair, I sink into her beauty, “I don’t mean to my love.”
The knock on the door announced our three arrivals before they walked in, “The three of you have a mission that we wish for you to complete. No one besides the people in this room is allowed to know what that mission is. Understood?”
“Yes Chieftain”
