Chapter 46
Mother Confessor:
A second time I am tossed upon my feet abruptly by the Sergeant. Landing hard on my feet onto the cold metal floor. Milling around frantically as I a dress in a hurry to start my day of activity for her. My fingers once more dancing through the motions as I tie up my two pairs of boots after donning my BDUs. Again no one bothers with the proceedings as my bunk slams down with a loud clang as it hits the metal surface. Still slumbering soundly despite the racket Sergeant Nimix creates in my rousing. I match her heavy walk, as she leads me out of the barrack.
Unsure of where we are off to, I follow in tow in silence. I hope that it will be less hectic than trying to fire a Terran assault rifle. Our boots echoing off the walls as we depart from the barrack in the early hours of the morning.
I notice by our travels that we are headed for the mess, for and early breakfast. Marching in silence, outside of our heavy clacking feet. Marching down the corridor that is devoid of activity as we make our way to our destination. Keeping my eye on the short broad Sergeant in our silent travels.
Graxis:
Unable to sleep in the early morning hours. I find myself on the observation deck of the bridge. Peering into the blackness and the ringed giant growing in the distance. Listening to the chatter of the helmsmen as we descend on the planet’s system. Drinking coffee and wondering where this elusive science facility is. At least that is what I was told by the Ober-Commander.
Averting my gaze to the broad deck below, I watch as the heavy armor makes their rounds. Inspecting the many coil cannons mounted, and the two massive rail cannons. I watch as they check munitions, and clean the barrels in the hostile environment. The team of three war frames diligently perform their tasks.
Marckus:
Rolling over and peering at the readout of the clock on the far wall. The red glow in the distance displays 0523. Groggily swinging my legs over the edge, and sitting upright. Rubbing the gunk free from my eyes. Today is going to be interesting as I have to assemble a ship and small team to go and find the private science facility. Perhaps a small scout ship with a pair of medium armor escort should do the trick. Keying up the console for a pot of coffee, as this crosses my mind.
Going to need an extra pilot, for the vessel that will be needed to exact my future plans for Callisto. The only thing that troubles me is that they will not accept my enigmatic gift in exchange for the few items I require. First I must acquire the articles of my exchange. Quickly keying in for a second cup to be delivered with the coffee. Following it up with a quick message for Dlynvacko to come to my quarters. Informing her to bring a vial of the Mother Confessors blood, and for a chat.
Upon putting out the messages for the early hour. I begin looking for the rest of the crew that I will require for the fieldtrip to the facility. I will choose the pair of armor pilots carefully, as I do not have use of any hotheads for this particular venture.
Graxis:
Peering down to the helmsman, as they keep the battleship on course to the ever growing ringed gas giant. Their hands busy manipulating the controls, making minor adjustments to plot the safest course.
“Any signs of traffic” ,I ask the two busy helmsman.
“Negative, Captain” ,the one to my left replies, “Should I do a more comprehensive scan to ensure that we are in fact alone, sir?”
Raising my gaze to the outside, peering into the distance. “Stay the scan” , I tell him, “Patch me through to the armor detail on the deck up front.”
“Comms up sir” ,he quickly affirms the order.
“You see anything out there on your detail” ,I inquire the three heavy frames traversing the broad deck below.
“No, sir” ,one of the armor pilots replies, keeping busy with his shift.
“Very good. Keep sharp” , I order them, signaling the helmsman to cut the transmission. “You may do your scan now” , I instruct the helmsman.
“Aye, sir”, he responds, “If there is anything hidden out there, it will not be for long.” This makes me wonder if the deep scan will turn up the elusive science facility that the Ober-Commander made mention of. Would definitely shave some time off having to search for it visually. Should know within the
