PEOPLE

TITLES, AND

TERMS

Aiye (AH’yeh)—person

The second strongest New Wave and he was raised in the city in the sky alongside the most important person to him, Solara “Sol”.

The Alliance—title

The cooperative between the 21st Colony and all other Colonies, formed for the sake of defeating the Dark State.

Amala (ah-mAH-luh)—person

The name of The 10th Hero of Core, The Millennium Hero. She’s the matriarch of Aiye’s lineage and also one of the closest friends of The Warden—once upon a time

Anaye (ah-nAH-yay)—person

The name of The 11th Hero of Core, The Dawn Hero. The daughter of Amala, the sister of warrior Carbon, and the mother of Aiye.

Atzi-Tozi (aht-see toh-see)—person

Just “Tozi” to those close to her. She’s ranked third amongst The Five, so she’s likely the fourth strongest New Wave. She is a weapons expert who can hear the voice of all weapons, and the closest person to her is the New Wave named Junaid.

Birds—term

What all the New Wave call one of their own in the last few months of being 17, before they are sent to work in the regular workforce, but still given the highest positions.

The Broker—person/title

Leader of a city on the surface, but always scheming. Always plotting, the rise of those who are not New Wave and Old Guard, and the fall of The Warden and Solaris. By any means necessary.

Carbon—person/title

A Hero-Candidate a part of Legion that wears the dark grey—nearly black armor. The son of Amala the 10th Hero, the brother of Anaye the 11th Hero, and Uncle to Aiye.

City in the Sky—term

The uncharacteristically nameless city, shaped like the bottom half of a sphere with a flat top. This is the city that floats high above the ocean. Where Solaris HQ is located. Home of The Warden. And the largest, toughest “factory” where New Wave were developed and raised.

The Colonies—title

There’s 20 other colonies, excluding the 21st. These are the worlds that formed The Alliance and all currently have a very unstable relationship with the 21st. A bittersweet “frienemy”-type of relationship that has them on the brink of war with one another.

Core—title

The true name of the military entity of the Dark State. They are the 21st colony’s greatest enemy. Defeated once already in the Dark War, they threaten to return.

Cycles—term

Another word for “years”.

Dark Era—term/title

The golden era of the Dark State, during the height of their power. This time period begins when the dark state first began their conquest of all the free lands that eventually became known as the 21 colonies. It ends right before the Dark War, initiated by the colonies’ decision to separate remove themselves from under the control of the Dark State.

Dark State—title

Home of the Core and the Heroes. The once-ruler of all the colonies, now their greatest enemy—at least for the 21st Colony.

Dark War—title

The war resulting from the Dark State trying to reclaim all 21 colonies after the colonies formed The Alliance to break free from their control.

DNA Binding Agreement “DNABA”—term/title

A contractual agreement that requires DNA for the signature.

Electrum—title

The Gold warrior of Legion, after she absorbs Silver’s power core.

The Eye—title

“…a room that’s both too big, and too small. A room that gives off the illusion of being without walls—vast and endless with nothing but the shallow waters…” It floats high in the sky, directly above the city in the sky, and it has no known entrance, but it sees all.

Factory—term

What some of the New Wave call the development centers in which they were experimented on and raised, until they were 18 cycles.

The Five—title

After Solara and Aiye escaped the city in the sky, these were the five New Wave deemed to be strongest—meant to lead the Protectorate.

Gold “K”—person/title

A Hero Candidate from the Dark State that wears the golden armor. Member of Anaye The Dawn Hero’s “Legion”.

The Guard—title

The Old Guard before they were old, back during the Dark War.

The Hero—title

The title given to the strongest and most respected warrior in the Dark State, able to take on entire armies by themselves. They’re given the highest rank, and also nearly-unilateral control over the military. Typically, there is only one every 100 years, but rumors speak of the Dark State forming an ambitious plan.Isi-Iyi (ē’see-ē’yee)—title

The island, on in the land of the 21st Colony, where the colonies made their last stand against the Dark State. Where the war was won. Where the 10th Hero died. Where they built the statue, “The War Cry”.

Junaid (joo-nayd)—person

The fourth ranked New Wave, a member of The Five and Tozi’s closest person. He loves to fight with his fist, maybe just as much as Solara does.

Legion—title

Every Hero has a personal team of Perennials who were all in the immediate running for being designated the Hero. Anaye, the 11th Hero of Core chose to call her group “Legion”.

Millennium Hero—person/title

Amala. The 10th Hero. Recognized as the greatest warrior in history.

Narra Tree—term

The invincible… Other than The Eye, this is the second greatest wonder on the city in the sky, and in all of the 21st Colony. Maybe even the first greatest wonder…?

Naturals—term/title

Those who are not enhanced as Old Guard or New Wave, because “surface dwellers” is meant to disrespectful.

New Wave—term/title

The physically enhanced youth created by The Warden. They can hear farther, run faster, jump higher, lift more, see better, and they are pretty fucking tall. There were only a few hundred successfully made.

No.1—person/title

Thema’s title as the first ranked of The Five.

No.2—person/title

The second ranked of the The Five.

No.3—person/title

Tozi’s title as the third ranked of The Five.

No.4—person/title

Junaid’s title as the fourth ranked of The Five.

No.5—person/title

The fifth ranked of The Five.

Old Guard—term/title

The Warden’s first attempt at the perfect super soldiers. They fought side-by-side with him against the Dark State. They age slow but they’re old. Taller than New Wave, except Solara, and very bulky. Their enhancements are not as strong as the New Wave.

Perennials—title

Traditionally, there’s only one official Hero, but there are four people who qualify. One of those four becomes the Hero while the other three Hero-Candidates become a three-person support team for the designated Hero. They are three reserves in case the Hero goes down, but often with weaker power cores than the hero.

The Pilot—term

A New Wave who who everyone refers to as something along the lines of “that one pilot over there”. She also is the self-proclaimed best pilot to ever live. She better hope so.

The Protector—title

Who The Warden was before he was The Warden. During the Dark Era and the Dark War he was viewed more as a savior… for his many contributions to the war effort and his heroism.

Protectorate—term/title

The title that The Warden wants to give to what some might refer to as the swearit’snotjustmypersonalarmy army. To be led by The Five.

Power Core—term

What powers the armor of The Heroes and their Perennials.

Pulse Staff—term

A weapon of mass destruction that was used heavily in the Dark War. Its demand is so great that non-Old Guard and New Wave cannot handle it without catastrophic repercussions. There are not many remaining, despite Solaris having nearly all of them, because they cannot be reproduced. They weren’t manufactured by Solaris, they were discovered…

Silver—person/title

Another Perennial, like Gold and Carbon, and a member of “Legion” which is the name of the 11th Hero’s personal team of Perennials.

Solara “Sol” (soh-LAAH-rah)—person

The one and only. The strongest New Wave. Aiye is her closest person. Raised in the city in the sky—and escaped it, her and Aiye.

Solaris—title

The company that The Warden formed to essentially govern the 21st Colony. They have no competition; if you ask them, they also have no detractors either—in their eyes. Ultimately they’re just a shell and Solaris is just a title. The 21st knows who holds the real power.

Sollar (Sōl-yar)—person

The first Old Guard. The Warden’s last friend. Owner of a similar, mysterious power as the Warden.

Surface—term

Originating from the city in the sky, it’s a disrespectful term that some New Wave use to refer to those who are not enhanced like them or Old Guard.

Thema (Tay-muh)—person

The strongest New Wave after Solara and Aiye. Leader of The Five.

War Cry—title

The statue commemorating the end of the Dark War. It’s located on Isi-Iyi.

The Warden—person/title

Once known as the Protector. The leader of Solaris. The brain behind the creation of the Old Guard and New Wave. Our antagonist.

10th Hero of the Core—person/title

Amala. The Millennium Hero.

11th Hero of the Core—person/title

Anaye. The Dawn Hero.

21st Colony—place/title

The last colony. The most mysterious. Where the Dark War was won. Where our story takes place.
