Unknown Magic (3)

Chapter 17

Thrown back into our cell and now we wait or least that is what I hope we are doing.

Emily and Damon clamber in the cell coming to their barrier leaning at odd angles just to see us. I had began pacing while Wolf slumped to the back wall arms resting on his knees.

“What happened?” Damon started while Emily stayed quiet.

I gestured wildly with my hands as if I was swatting a fly away. “ we are no sure they as in the king and queen wanted to question Wolf and I union as like any other creature” I stopped short rifting up dirt and it slowly settled to the ground. “Why” I looked to Wolf who only stared ahead and brought my gaze back to Emily as she gripped the vines and roots for dear life. “Why is our union being questioned so much?” the words themselves were irritating me, “So what, Wolf and I got children and have children, it is what people do!” I screamed the last part. And slammed my face into my hands not to weep but to scream with no sound.

Wolf as he was only one sitting shifted in his place and soon I felt or heard his feet crunch against the stone moving over to me. With a moment later. Electric heat was in front of me with two rough but soft hands letting me meet a familiar forest green with a golden touch. He generally seemed hurt or sympathise, I was not sure as in my own mind I was flustered. Then he spoke in his native language.

Yes, we are a so called normal couple, in-love married with children…” he took a breath as did I, “but it seems to co-exist with a change in this world as it had not with others same species. Making people question…” he bit his lip staring into my eyes but soon turned towards the other two who gaped at us wanting to know what he was saying.

“With these murders and finding answers could possibly help with finding answers to why the change.” He focused on me again.

I know he had some knowledge and wisdom but this the calmest I have seen him. He did not have a plan but willing to do anything at a cost and that scares me.

It must be late afternoon by the sun rays through the leaves as Wolf and I were once again being escorted to the throne room, but this time with Emily, Damon and Thuse. It must be big talk if they are to come.

The doors opened and the royals are seat at their usual spots again in the woven stone of sticks and roots. This time they did not look upset but rather curious wanting to ask questions.

Just by the doors the guards stop the three while Wolf and I kept being escorted to the two thrones only closer this time then when we were here this morning. The King and Queen only stared down onto us, the queen especially tilted her head one way then the other way, boring her eyes into my skin. I took the time to study her and realize her dress was made of peddles, seem like large tulips but they were light brown ones. It was a one shoulder dress with a slit down the side at her thigh.

“Something interest you, child of light?” her voice snaps my thoughts realizing she caught me staring at her.

“No” I quickly replied.

The King shifted but did not stand, “I assumed, most of you have questioned you as you are the only to marry of opposite species.” He started but paused, his hands gripping the edge of his throne armrests. “Questioned you about what caused this change.”

We waited till then I realized we should answer.

“Yes” Wolf beat me to it, “We have been questioned by many and no offence” he sighs wth a breath. “It is becoming annoying, we are just a family who wants to raise our children, yet we have to battle pathetic reds and no being questioned by two royals…so honestly if that is why you shot us down, there really is no reason for us to be here anymore.”

I almost gapped but kept a tight lip as my gaze fell onto the king and queen elves, and almost fumbled back as if I was shocked that their reactions are not what I expected. They did not look angry or upset rather content and unmoved.

The queen spoke, “we feel it, our power, the element is fading.”

“And he had nothing to do with that.” I replied.

The queen narrowed her eyes onto me, “You may want to think that, but you radiate off power that you may not feel, but we are not sure why either.

That took a second to process.

“To guide you on your journey, we believe,” the king started but narrowed his eyes to the back as if focusing on someone. I turned slightly and saw Emily and Damon looking normal just standing still before a ancient royal family I presume. But my eyes glazed over to Thuse who looked ghostly whist almost about to faint.

The kings voice continued drawing my attention back to him.” WE believe that a missing link been stolen or is out of place and we feel you somehow can fix it.”

My eyes went large and lips parted, they expect so much from me, this was becoming way to complicated.

“Why question us when we could be inspecting that while solving a murder case.” I pointed out while doubting my words. Luckily they did not take offence to it. Rather they oddly smiled as if they knew a secret that rest of couldn’t know. The queen shifted forward in her seating to me, either wanting to get closer to me or inspecting me farther. The smile still splayed on her lips before me.

“Are you unaware of your powers, as we question your ability Asema Darksky?”

Wolf and I turned our gazes to one another, confusion written in his face like mine.

“I hate to say” I whisper, returning my gaze and clearing my throat, “but what are you talking about?”

A shift of someone’s feet caused someone stumbling back, I did not look to see who it was.

“My wife and I still question it, though it was a illusion someone playing tricks on us. But you child, Asema Darksky radiate light you shine a beauty that we cannot fathom.”

“You sure its not just the air around you” Emily small voice sounded from the back.

I bit my lip to stop my smiling at her remark.

“No,” the king shot back obviously irritated by Emily response. His eyes slid back mine, green boring into mine, trying to seek something, possible the Light. I stood still my confidence no idea where it was, my pounding heart steady as the wind blowing through the leaves.

“Are you aware of your powers?” the queen voice now soft.

I nodded slowly, “earth giants made me aware of my situation when on a mission years ago.”

The queen tilted her head at my response, she is not narrow her eyes but clear curious was laced in them. “You must be also aware of the warning they gave as most of us,” she only gestured to herself and he husband, “that with the Light, a dark force comes creeping in the future.”

Again I nod to the statement, “mostly everyone has warned us about this so called dark forced, yet only thing that has happened” I shifted on my feet and huff a annoyance breath, “is a so called change in the power force of the elements.”

No response just quietness.

Soon a shifted against the throne and I saw the King rise from his seat and lightly descend the stepped while moving smoothly across the stones. HE stopped in front of Wolf and I just as he cape settles around him.

“I think you already know why the unbalance and weakening power is here, its just the matter of accepting the fate that is provided for you. You are Light, Asema Darksky and the power you hold can fix the problem. To what?” he shrugs his shoulders, “to what we do not know how, but you should do it soon” he steps closer to me making his voice only a breath causing Wolf to shift closer to me only to be yanked back tightly, he grunts in pain.

“Look at me” I do, “Do it soon before we are nothing but a world withering away,” he jerks away walking to his throne with a cape flying in the wind behind him. Settling down acting as if he didn’t just cause pain and hopelessness in me. A pit of worry and dread now causing me to feel lost.

“My husband and I believe you are innocent and are free to leave.”

Relief washes over me as her eyes fixate on Emily, “your dragons are well, no harm has come to them, you may attend to them when you are free.” And with that she flicked her hand at us causing the guards to move us out as clattering sounded from our shoes as we fumbled across the stones and roots were laid before us.

The king and queen kept their promise, as our transport of dragons are unharmed and only looked like they came from a dozed sleep. Emily rushed over to them acting like a frantic mother to her children.

We were on a cliff amongst the jungle where you could see the tops of trees and a tropical bird flying here and there in their colourful wings. The air was faint allowing the humidity to sink in.

Emily guided her hand across the dragons scales inspecting every inch of them obviously not trusting the elves word. She turned to us giving a thumbs up for us, reassuring as if we needed it.

“We should get out mounts ready, but be bit delayed as I am not sure how deep their sleep has been,” Emily hollered over a small pick up on the wind.

Thuse started towards his dragon, but almost seemed like he could not wait to ride even though it seemed he was not comfortable at first. But he stopped and turned arching a eyebrow at Wolf and I, we moved forward.

“You two do realize” he waited for us to come closer and began walking with us to the dragons who now were rising up and getting their bearing together. “That whole reason we need to get a move on is for a murder that been committed” he snapped his last words.

We stopped at the dragons and already I could feel their heat cascade off the scales. The green forest makes their scales look green from the tint. Emily’s dragon pure black with Wolf and I dull grey with lastly Thuse, who now looks pale again as he nears the creature, a deep red.

I huffed a breath, “Thuse, Emily dragons were under some sort of sleep and she is tending to them, I rather” I eye him a death stare, “Not fall out of the sky again because of a fatal mistake.”

Thuse eyes me back but turns and beginning to climb. Damon is the one to speak.

“Asema, do you understand or did you understand the elf king and queen? How are the so sure you can fix this situation?”

My eyes search to where he is, and surprised to see him taking the reins.

I reply to him as our dragons shift towards the cliff, our bodies moving side to side because of the weight shift. “I don’t know, but I know I am this so called Light but I don’t see how that relates to helping restore powers in this world.”

“Well” Wolf chimes in, “We know you are the only Immortal that we heard of that can control, Air, Earth, Water and Fire and somehow have other powers that still question.”

His back is to me but I purse my lips together lightly pat his arm.

Emily snickers and I look to her smiling. Her dragon extends it’s wings and a flapped away causing booming noise echoes through the air but silenced by the surrounding trees. Moment later they are up in the are sailing towards the horizon. Time to follow suit.

Our dragon extends his wings reminding me of bats wings, encasing us in leather walls to flapping down a pounding loud thud of air into our ears.

“I believe they are referring to a specific power that you possess to the elements,” Thuse commented before Wolf and I were lifted into the air soaring through the warm humid air of small sound of crickets.

Clinging onto Wolf I look back to where Thuse was, whose dragon was already beating its wings to the air and soaring off to reach behind us.

Trust gut feeling, but why is it intense about Thuse and my connection? I feel the answer will be a place I do not expect and that scares me.
