Unknown Magic (3)

Chapter 16

The wind caressed my skin guiding across my cheeks, it was cool by breeze but refreshing since we were enduring a hot summer day. One half of me worried that we would not find answers while other was thankful that Wolf was flying as we followed Emily and Damon through the sky. Emily with Damon was in the lead while close behind Wolf and I, next to us Thuse on his own. We only flown for a full day but it felt like more than that. Luckily down below the trees of a spotted jungle looked beautiful from above. We dipped down a bit flying the dragons belly close to canyon that had a medium size river below. The blue water sparkled looking crystal clear.

If I flew the dragon we would’ve have crashed as I tugged tighter to Wolf soaking up his heat resting my forehead to his back. His back muscles soften but doesn’t look back. My mind wonders to the murders as a recent thoughts occurred when we began flying. The murders are siblings so they have to be connected to one another, but as Madam said trust my feeling or guts as humans would say. But I always remind myself I watched Kieran die before me and because of that the Red Immortals are doing their best to gain revenge for their so called king or so what they called him.

I took a breath and relaxed into this sitting position, until the sky disappeared and I was now sitting in front of Kieran.

We both had a cup of tea and seemed I forgot about this memory. It was after he revealed that I was the light and he the darkness. My hands automatically tightened around the hot cup.

“I am surprised you didn’t figure this out sooner,” Kieran spoke while running his hand on the outer cups rim/

“How was I supposed to know? You took me within days later of me finding out my lineage, practically kidnapped me.” My mouth moved.

I thought I erased this memory apparently there was something I needed to remember.

“Well, you wouldn’t come so what other choice did I have?”

Anger lingered in me. I remembered the emotion so well.

“It simple, you are light meaning you are the most powerful Immortal there is…well aside from me” He gestured to himself.

I felt my eyes roll. “Point?”

He crouched forward leaning towards me, staring at me straight in the eyes.

“Point is, Darkness and Lightness mix together, they form a bond giving balance to good and bad.”

“Kieran” I started off, giving him a smile, that certainty straightened him up. “I do not belong to you and certainty will not be with you.” I spoke the words like ice.

He flattered at my response and slacked his head, only to be shaking with a moment I realized he was laughing as he brought his eyes to mine. “On of these days you will, and you realize how powerful me being a heir is. One of these says you stand by my side and we will become a pair, and one thing for sure I know my siblings will not stand in the way.”

I cocked my head to the side in response. How can you be so sure of that?” I challenged, as he cocked an eyebrow. “I mean you are hiding from them, so how is your family not going to be in the way of you ruling?”

He smiled, and that did not bring my comfort knowing there was another message behind that face. He leans back tracing his mug, “Lets just say that I have a few things in mind” he meets my eyes, “a few things that will work just need a extra bit of time for them to take actual effect.”

Those words did not bring me comfort.

But I don’t remember saying anything next as I was back in the present.

Wolf shrugged his shoulders gaining me out of my daze this time trying to look over his shoulder to me. I casted my eyes up to him and saw that it seemed we were flying through a endless canyon as my golden hair ruffled around my face. Even thought annoyingly I tied it in a braid. Wolf shrugged his shoulders again. “Hey” this time he raised his voice over the winding wind.

“Yeah” I reply but not to loud, “What” I stretched my neck plopping my chin, well tried onto his shoulder.

“What are you thinking, I can hear the gears turning.”

I grunted, but playfully that earned a chuckle from Wolf but he shrugged lifting my chin with him. “seriously what on your mind?”

I looked over to where Thuse, who seemed at peace flying a dragon but yet he is pasty white almost shocked. I turned my gaze to Emily and Damon but I only see their backs. I trust them but not Thuse.

I will tell you but do not speak a word to Thuse’ I thought to Wolf and then questioned why we did not do this in the first place.

Think your mind away’ Wolf replied.

I tugged tighter to him, ’You remember how I killed Kieran?”

Silence aside from the whistling of wind against my ears.

Yes, why?’ I could understand he was quite hesitant.

At the moment something does not feel right about his death and own his siblings are dying’ I question but not towards Wolf and he knows that as he continued to be silent. Somehow the whistling of wind quiets even thought we only rose a bit into the open way of the canyon but vegetation becomes dense.

I know I may sound crazy but…’ I bit my lip not wanting to admit it, but its only a theory, ’What if Kieran is connected to these deaths?’ Wolf muscles tighten as his whole body’s goes rigid.

How would that even be possible?” he questions, I could see back his jaw tick, ’he is dead, how would a dead man be involved in murders?’ he asked another question.

I shrug my shoulders shaking my head, ’I don’t know, that what I am trying to figure out,’

Wolf stays silent again as we lower our dragon lower to the ground, flying between the two walls of the canyon. I cast my gaze up a the rock walls that had grey with speckled white and black dots with occasional green, purple and vibrant red vegetation scattered across the rocks. The humid begins or least now I am starting to realize the heaviness in the air.

Where do you reckon we are, close to Terra?” I thought to Wolf.

I hones—’

He doesn’t get to finished as something blasts us out of the air and we begin to plummet towards the earth. And I was not sure it was reflex or a feeling of protection but I stuck our my arms and thoughts of air.

Keep us safe, I commanded while maneuvering five of us to land in the water and used air to control for a safer impact. My heart dropped to my stomach till a crash sounding of water swarming my ears, to my body was submerged in water. A set of relief as I felt everyone with my air power also land in water. I began to swim to the surface but yet something was pushing me down. Was it my power from panic? Or the current from the river was stronger than I expected. I kicked and strokes through the water only thing to get me to the surface, but nothing was working as another force plummeted me down towards a blue abyss. All I could see was air bubbles and sun streaking through the water. Almost mocking me of the surface. Panic was settling in as my air would not come. As much as I desperately commanded it to full my lungs only water was the source.

Dark spots began to spot in my vision telling me the end was near, should I accept?
