Chapter 98 Give Kara Pressure
Mason was anxious because he did not get Kara at school.
He was afraid that something would go wrong, so he went out half an hour ahead of time. Unfortunately, his car suddenly got a flat tire halfway, so he had no choice but to go to the garage to fix the car.
When he finally got to school, he received a message from Kara, saying that the housekeeper of the Hemmings' invited her to have dinner with Madam Hemming.
When Mason heard that she came to the Hemming's, he immediately called James in panic.
Madam Hemming suddenly asked Kara to the Hemming's full of mean people. Mason was afraid that Kara would be in danger.
James was having lunch. He lost his appetite when he heard what Mason said.
Grandma suddenly asked Kara to the Hemming's. It must be more than a dinner.
No, he had to stop Kara from staying at the Hemming's.
The Hemming's was built a hundred years ago. Later, it was renovated by the architects with many modern designs.
Therefore, the house looked simple and old from the outside, but it was magnificent inside.
Kara passed through the garden and passed by a large fountain before entering the old house.
"Madam Hemming, Kara had arrived," the bodyguard reported.
"Well, it's right at the dinner time."
Madam Hemming looked up and saw the timid girl standing behind the bodyguard. She frowned slightly.
This timid little girl was the scheming girl that Emma was talking about?
"Little girl, don't be afraid. Come over and talk to me." Madam Hemming smiled kindly.
Kara saw that Zoey 's eyes were not as sharp and unkind as Linda's. She breathed a sigh of relief.
Kara thought, "Since Uncle James respects her, she must be a good person."
Thinking of Uncle James, Kara was completely relieved. She smiled, "Hello, Great Grandma, I'm Kara."
Kara called James "Uncle James", and Madam Hemming was James's grandmother, so Kara called her great-grandma.
Madam Hemming looked at her delicate face and frowned, but she quickly recovered.
"Come, sit by me and chat with me."
"Thank you, Great Grandma."
Kara went to sit by Zoey.
Today, the Hemming's was very quiet. No one went out because of their own matters. On the huge dining table, Zoey was alone.
Madam Hemming asked her a few questions, and Kara answered truthfully.
"Are you used to living in James's villa?" Madam Hemming asked as she ate as if it was just chitchat.
"Yes, Libby is very good at cooking. Uncle James is very friendly."
When Zoey heard that James was actually friendly in Kara's eyes, she paused in surprise and glanced at her.
She found that Kara had beautiful amber eyes, which were bright and attractive.
She had investigated Kara, and Kara was honest when she answered the questions. However, when Kara said that James was friendly, and Zoey was shocked.
James liked to keep a straight face since he was a child. When he grew up, he always kept a poker face. When he was angry and glowered, even Zoey would be afraid, let alone others. "Is James easy to get along with?"
"Yes, Uncle James is nice." Kara nodded and smiled.
Zoey was dumbfounded Kara seemed to be telling the truth.
James had mysophobia and did not like to interact with girls since he was young.
Ever since that incident, he had been bored of the girls who tried to get close to him. When he was annoyed, he would directly hit them. He had hit a lot of girls that were sent to him by Zoey. So it was rare that he was nice to a girl.
However, it was inappropriate for James to ignore his fiancée.
"That is good." Madam Hemming nodded and said with a smile, "I heard that James promised your father to take care of you. James has personal loyalty, so it is reasonable for him to be nice with you." Madam Hemming didn't say mean words, but Kara's smile faded. She sat up straight and felt terrified.
"Yes, I'm very grateful to Uncle James."
"Do you know that your cousin and James are getting engaged?"
Madam Hemming asked softly. She put pressure on Kara quietly. Kara was nervous.
Kara clenched her fists and held back her fear.
"Yes, I know that."
"James has a good relationship with his fiancée, and this is good for you. You'll be doubly related. Do you understand?"
Madam Hemming did not say a mean word, but one could read between the lines.
If Kara was sensible, she should help Kathleen be with James instead of working her way into them. If Kathleen couldn't be with James, it would be bad for Kara.
Kara was just timid, but not stupid. She could read between the lines.
Madam Hemming was putting pressure on her!
"I understood."
Kara looked docile and sensible, and she was not as scheming as Emma said. Zoey wanted to touch Kara's head, but Kara avoided her.
Apart from James, Kara was not used to being close to others. When others approached her, she would avoid instinctively.
"You're smart. I want to see James get married and have a child as soon as possible. Or I will be guilty when I meet his grandpa in the heavens." Zoey sighed. Kara didn't know what to say. She looked down and listened.
Now, she had no appetite to eat. She put down her chopsticks as Zoey did.
It was a great fortune for her that James was taking care of her. If she and Zoey had an unpleasant quarrel, James would be in a dilemma.
Suddenly, the door of the house was pushed open, and the old butler tried to stop the man.
Kara heard a familiar voice. She turned around in surprise and saw Will walking into the living room with a medicine box in his hand. "Good evening, Madam Hemming."
Will ignored the dissuasion of the bodyguards and walked to the dining table. He smiled gently and greeted Zoey.
"Will, why are you here at this time?"
Zoey asked a question that she already knew the answer to.
Will and James were friends since childhood. It was not strange that James would ask Will to help to take Kara away.
But what displeased her was that James valued Kara so much!
"It's not a big deal. James asked me to check Kara's body every month. It just so happens that it's time today. When I rushed to James' villa from the hospital, I heard that she came to the Hemming's." Will explained in a gentle tone.
"So I come here. I can give you a check-up to see how your condition is."
Last time, Zoey pretended to be ill and was in the hospital because she heard that James was going to postpone the engagement. She deliberately scared James.
However, Will was clearly offering both of them a way out. And he gave clues that James was caring about Kara and protecting her.
