Chapter 96 In Love?
There was a restaurant near the school. Kara chose a table by the window, invited Donald to sit down, and then headed for the counter to order food.
"Pleased let me." Donald chuckled.
"No, Donald! It is my treat, so it is inappropriate for you to do so." Kara opposed strongly and pressed Donald to sit down with both hands on his shoulders.
"Donald, I am a frequenter here and know which dish is good."
Donald shrugged helplessly. His mood improved a little, thanks to Kara's bright smile.
Soon, Kara came back from the counter to chat with Donald. Their topic came to why Donald appeared in the school suddenly. Donald would like to keep that awful fact from Kara and lied with a smile that he was plagued with leisure and came to dine with her to kill time.
Kara didn't buy this story but was sensible enough to change the topic to painting instead of pushing Donald.
"Donald, did the homework you gave me a few weeks before the exam come from Master Larry?"
"In your opinion, Master Larry would give me that stuff?" Donald raised his eyebrows and smiled proudly.
"What?"
Kara was puzzled and wondered how Donald got those papers if they were not from Master Larry.
"They are my works based on the exam contents in the past few years. Those questions may change in their forms, but the trend remains the same. Moreover, I have worked under Master Larry for years and know his style. So, speculation on those questions is not difficult at all," Donald explained.
What a good surprise! Kara felt grateful to him.
"Back then, I mistook that Master Larry was partial to me and tipped me deliberately. It turns out now you helped me. Thank you very much. Please allow me to express my gratitude with this cup of water." "Skip that phony show. Let's make it even with this meal."
Donald smiled carelessly but still drank that cup of water from Kara.
Both of them majored in painting, and Donald was a humorous chatter. Therefore, they had a good time.
The night already fell when Kara and Donald came out of the restaurant.
"Where is your home? May I give you a free ride?"
Kara checked the time and didn't refuse this kindness as it was getting late, "Well, thank you."
"You are welcome. It's my honor." Donald smiled and tried to rub her head, but Kara dodged his hand.
The lively atmosphere became awkward immediately.
A hint of injury flashed through Donald's eyes, but he retracted his hand quickly as if nothing had happened. The smile was still hanging on his face.
"Forget it. I have a little sister older than you. I love to rub her head whenever I see her."
Kara nodded. She didn't want to embarrass Donald when he was finding an excuse to ease the awkwardness.
"Donald, you know what, girls would rather bleed than have messy hair!" Kara stroked a lock of hair to the back of her ear carefully, pouted, and complained with anger, but there was a bright smile on her face. "Oh, I heard it before."
Donald nodded, and his expression didn't change, "No wonder that the more my little girl grows up, the more she dislikes my rubbing her head. She said she felt like a cat when I rubbed her head."
Kara loved to chat with Donald and felt relaxed for his infectious smile.
They had a good chat back. When Kara got of the car, Donald looked at her with a smile.
"It's good to have a little sister like you."
"Am I not younger than you?" Kara raised her eyebrows and smiled slyly.
Donald was stunned and then burst out laughing, "Then, work hard for the matriculation exam. I will wait for you at University A."
"Alright." Kara nodded seriously.
Looking in the direction where Donald's car disappeared, Kara stroked her head involuntarily. Her dodging the rub from Donald was out of instinct, a vigilance from a little girl to a man. "Am I too cautious?" She thought to herself.
Kara didn't miss the sadness in Donald's eyes at the mention of his little sister, and it seemed to imply a sorrowful story.
"Anyway, none of my business. Never mind. All I have to do now is to work hard and get enrolled in University A!" Kara thought.
"Kara!"
Kara turned around, and an angry voice came behind her suddenly like a hallucination.
"Kara, who is that man?"
"Eli, why are you here?" Kara looked at Eli, who was dashing toward her angrily.
"I am asking you, who is that man who drove you back?" Eli breathed heavily, and it was obvious that he was furious.
"He was my schoolmate. What's wrong?" Kara blinked.
"What schoolmate?" Eli questioned with dissatisfaction, "Kara, didn't you say that you were still too young to think of a relationship?"
Kara didn't know whether to laugh or cry as Eli sounded like he caught her cheating on him red-handed, "Eli, it is none of your business if I am in a relationship or not."
Eli stared at her in shock for such a candid reproach.
He doubted if this girl was still the same one who blushed and lowered her head for one word.
"Sorry, I have to go now." Kara turned and left when Eli was still in a trance.
"Kara, are you admitting that you are in love?"
"Eli, don't blacken me." Kara rolled her eyes at him.
Eli admitted that he had been impulsive after cooling down. He was dining with his classmate when Kara walked past with a fashionably groomed man, chatting and laughing. His classmate spoke ill of Kara, and Eli led by anger followed them all the way here.
Getting off the car, Kara still had a long chat with that man, so Eli turned bloodshot in the eyes for jealousy.
Kara would lower her head with a blush whenever she and Eli were alone, and her silence made the atmosphere awkward.
So, the smiling face when Kara showed in the chat with Donald did hurt and exasperate Eli.
"Sorry, I was too impulsive just now."
Kara paused for this apology and turned to look at Eli.
"Eli, we are friends, and you should know how a friend behaves. If you still want me to be your girlfriend, I am sorry that you have to perish that thought, as we are not fitted for each other."
In the past, Kara didn't know how to express her refusal to Eli but now thought it necessary to draw a clear line between them.
"Why?" Eli was reluctant to give up.
"I can't answer you now. Maybe, when we grow up and have a better understanding of this world, you can find the answer without my telling you."
Eli felt bad when watching Kara walk away.
This was the second time that Kara refused him.
However, Eli couldn't give up the girl he had dreamed of for years easily.
Kara did not know that she was an obsession in the heart of some boy. Back to the villa, Libby asked Kara nervously if she and Eli had quarreled.
Stunned, Kara then realized that Libby might have seen her talking with Eli. So, she shook her head helplessly and explained that there was nothing to worry about. After Kara went upstairs in a good mood, Libby took out her phone immediately and sent a message to James.
James, who was in a meeting, received the message on his private phone.
After school, Miss Kara called to say that she was going to dine with a friend outside. It was Eli who escorted her back. They seemed to quarrel about love.
James was dumbfounded.
Eli and Kara were in love!
This idea made James look sulky and cold.
