Chapter 77 Uncle James is More Handsome
Noticing James's stern expression, Nolan lifted the golden-rimmed glasses on his nose and cast a glance at the lawyer.
The lawyer sensed James's displeasure and swiped the cold sweat on his forehead. He hurriedly nodded to Nolan and took a step forward.
He said, "Miss Kara is living with Mr. James, so Mr. James has the right to help deal with Miss Kara's possessions."
When Sophia and Adam heard this, their eyes widened as they turned to look at Linda in disbelief.
Under their gazes, Linda was so guilty that she looked away.
She was thinking to herself that she would keep it a secret and keep all the money.
Regardless of their expressions, the lawyer continued.
"The management of the villa has been delegated to Mr. James and he wants to rent it. You have two choices, either leave in three days or pay the rent." Right now, Kara was unclear about contracts, so she could only exercise her rights by handing over them to others through a lawyer.
So Adam became the vice president of the Quain Group by defrauding Kara of her acknowledgment.
Now he wanted the shares in Kara's hands and tried to persuade her several times, but she never let go.
He was so eager that he intended to use some tricks on her birthday.
In any case, Kara was still a member of the Quains. After her parents passed away, she had no relatives and no one would care even if she died.
But now Kara was taken away by James. He was shocked.
With her cane in her hand, Linda would have hit Kara upon hearing this if James hadn't stood in front of Kara.
"Kara, you're so great. Do you want to kick us out? If I had known you were such a troublemaker, I would have killed you!"
The lawyer ignored the aggressive Linda and continued, "In three days, if you don't move out, you will be invading other's house."
"For strangers who enter the villa without the consent of the owner, they need to compensate for the damage. If they refuse, their behavior can be classified as trespassing and burglary." Melody shouted when she sensed the implicit meaning.
"Sophia and Madam Quain told me to live in that bedroom. How could you say that I trespassed? You guys are slandering me. And you still want me to compensate. You're so evil, deliberately bullying and deceiving me!"
Hearing Melody's rude scolding, Sophia was filled with regret.
If Melody hadn't lived in Veronica's bedroom, perhaps this wouldn't have happened today.
She anxiously looked at Adam and asked him to think of a way, but Adam was too guilty to speak in front of James.
Before David died, he entrusted Kara to a friend. But when that friend appointed someone to take Kara away, Adam refused as he coveted the property of the Quain family. He swore that Kara would grow up healthily with the protection of the Quains.
However, Kara was beaten into the hospital by Linda several times and was even kicked out of the Quain's.
Now Kara wanted to take back her things. Although he was peeved and indignant, he failed to find an excuse to refute.
Besides, James, who Kathleen was about to marry, was here, so Adam was reluctant to offend him.
"Mom, why don't we move back to the apartment?"
Before they moved to the villa, they had an apartment, but Linda wanted to live in the villa. She moved in soon after David died.
If they moved out of the villa, they had to go back to the old apartment.
"No! This is David's house. Why should I do as he commanded?"
Linda thought that since it was her son's place, Kara had no right to drive her away.
James had no interest in hearing a group of women arguing. He asked Nolan and the lawyer to deal with the following matters before taking Kara back for dinner.
Kara sat in the car, feeling glad inwardly.
It was out of her expectation that James could drive them out of the villa in less than an hour. Truly amazing!
Linda kept saying that she was her grandma but never treated her well. Instead, she always called her a nemesis and wanted to beat her.
Adam earnestly begged her not to be so cruel, but if they hadn't been ruthless, she wouldn't have done such a thing.
Even a cornered beast would do something desperate. She was only asking them to return the things that belonged to her!
"Uncle James, luckily you're here. If you weren't here for me, I would definitely be enraged."
"It's okay." James was still calm.
"Uncle James, Uncle Nolan is really efficient. I've thought about taking out those contracts before, but no one helped me. If it weren't for you helping me, I wouldn't even know if I would have used them." Her eyes were clear as she stared at James with admiration.
"Who is better? Uncle Nolan or me?"
Kara froze for a while and then smiled brightly with big shining eyes, vivacious and cute.
"Uncle James, your question is easy. You are the best person in the world and the person I trust the most."
James said nothing.
James liked it when she stared at him with her bright eyes as if he was the only one in her world.
"Uncle James, wow, I find out that you're more handsome now."
Still, no reply.
"Uncle James..."
Her voice was hoarse for she had just cried and the corners of her eyes were slightly red. She looked like a little rabbit that had no way but to bite.
James found her lovable and rubbed her little head.
After returning back, Libby brought out a bowl of medicine as usual.
Kara wanted to escape, but seeing James's cold eyes, she helplessly took a deep breath and took it from Libby.
She pursed her lips while staring at the medicine with teary eyes, not wanting to drink it.
"Libby, why is the medicine getting more and more bitter?"
"Dr. Will sent it over today. It tastes more bitter. It's a new one," Libby explained.
Kara pouted. From the first day she took the medicine, she knew that she had to take it every day.
James saw her pouting as she pushed the medicine away in disgust after sniffing it.
He walked in front of her, lowered his head, and took a sip of the medicine expressionlessly.
His forehead touched hers, and his warm breath hit her cheek. Kara widened her eyes and was a little breathless, her heart beating wildly.
Her heartbeat was bumpy and fast.
So fast that her heart seemed to jump out of her mouth. She blushed and hurriedly pressed down on her chest.
"Uncle James, I told you not to drink my medicine before."
James tasted the medicine and licked his thin lips calmly, but he looked like he had eaten a sweet candy. "It tastes good."
He bent down and looked at her as if he was teasing a child. "If you don't drink, I'll drink it all."
Kara blinked her wide eyes. Being afraid that he would do it, she raised her head and finished it in one gulp.
In the evening, James suddenly noticed there was something wrong with his body. He felt hot. He took a few cold baths to cool down, but it didn't work.
