Chapter 44 Kara's Heart Beat Faster
Kara really didn't want to take medicine. She ran to James and held his arm with her small hands, acting like a spoiled child.
"Uncle James, I'll do more exercise and become stronger. Don't ask me to take medicine, please."
"Why?"
James coldly looked at Kara's small hands grabbing his arm. He said in a harsh tone,
"Kara, I told you not to get so close to men!"
Kara did not know what to say.
Seeing James' cold face, she let go of his arm with fear. She stared at the medicine bowl in Libby's hand as if it were something dreadful.
Once she drank the first bowl of medicine, she would definitely have to drink much more in the future. She would never have the chance to say no.
She bit her pink lips and carefully grabbed James' little finger, just like a fawning kitten.
"The medicine is too bitter. Every time I take it, I could feel the bitter smell creeping into my clothes."
This could possibly be a reason, but Kara must take medicine for the sake of her health.
"Libby, go get another bowl." He coldly shook off her hand, poker-faced.
"Alright..."
Although Libby did not understand what James meant, she still fetched a small bowl.
James poured half of the medicine into the newly-fetched bowl, raised his head and drank up the medicine in the small bowl without hesitation.
His handsome face remained cold in the whole process.
Kara doubted that the medicine he had drunk would be frozen.
"Kara, drink it! Hurry up!"
Kara was silent.
It was some time before she finally realized that James had drunk her medicine.
Shocked, she wrinkled up her pink face.
Now that James chose to take medicine together with her, she did not dare to say no.
She curled her lips and blinked glumly. She picked up the remaining bowl of medicine extremely slowly.
Recalling that James took the bitter medicine without any hesitation, she took a deep breath. It seemed that she were in the face of a guillotine.
She raised her head and tossed off the medicine, her beautiful eyebrows wrinkled.
'It's too bitter!'
It was not until she drank a few glasses of warm water that she got refreshed.
Kara frowned, her amber eyes filled with tears and her pink face wrinkled. Although he could not bear to see this, James kept a cold face.
"Uncle James, I'll be obedient and take medicine. There is no need for you to take the medicine with me."
James did not agree. He kept a distance from Kara and said indifferently, "The medicine Will has prescribed is tonics. He told me that it wouldn't matter if I took some." "But the medicine definitely has side effects. What if it harms your health?"
"In the future, as long as I don't go on a business trip, I will take medicine with you. You can't get away!"
Kara was speechless.
Now that James drank with her, she had no excuse to say no.
After dinner, James turned around and asked Kara when he went upstairs,
"Kara, have you finished your homework?"
Kara who was about to go for a walk with Libby stopped and the corner of her mouth twitched.
"Uncle James, this topic will make my stomach upset."
James ignored her pretending to be pitiful and said coldly, "Take your homework to my study and I'll check your performance."
Now that he promised to take good care of her, he had the responsibility to make sure she could study well.
"..." Her stomach will definitely be upset today!
Kara wrinkled her face. She had no choice but to go to the study with a stack of test papers.
Last time she entered the study, she was too nervous to notice the furnishings of it.
The study, with black and white tones, was so big, even bigger than her bedroom. There were neatly arranged books on the huge bookshelf, about a thousand ones.
On the left side outside the floor-to-ceiling window was a balcony. Behind the window were two large black sofas. Then Kara looked at James.
In front of him was a large desk with documents, desk lamp and computer neatly arranged on it, as rigorous as his attitude toward work.
He sat on the artificial swivel chair, his brown eyes staring coldly at her.
"Come here."
His voice was also cold. It seemed that cold air was let out of his mouth when he spoke.
Kara shrank her shoulders with fear and walked to his desk.
She did not know why Uncle James had been so cold to her since she was hospitalized. His indifference stopped her from approaching him. Sometimes when she tried to approach him cheekily, she would be scolded by him. She was really afraid of him.
Had she done something that made him unhappy? What could it be? She was annoyed.
"Why not sit down? Waiting for me to serve you?"
James noticed that Kara, staring at him, was in a daze. Obviously, she was absent-minded. His face got colder.
Kara finally came to her senses and realized that she was disliked by James again. She quickly fetched a chair and sat down with fear.
Uncle James wanted her to sit opposite him and finish the test papers?
"I have some work to do. You can ask me if you have any question," James said coldly.
Obviously, he asked her to do the homework and he would check it later.
Kara was unhappy.
She pouted and snorted. She harbored complaint, but dared to say nothing.
She flipped through the test paper uneasily and occasionally looked up at James. She found that he was much more handsome when concentrating on his work than when he had a cold face. "You haven't seen enough?"
The infatuated gaze of Kara made James' blood boil. He felt that if she kept staring at him, he could not restrain himself!
"I... I'm thinking about a question."
Kara looked away guiltily, lowered her head and covered her flushed face with hands.
Being caught peeking was definitely the most embarrassing thing in the world!
"Any question you don't understand?"
James casually raised his head and saw Kara staring at the test paper with a long face and her small white teeth biting the tip of the pen.
The tip of the pen was spinning in her mouth, and her pink lips covered with lipstick were dazzling.
It was like a silent hint, but Kara's eyes were clear and clean, filled with seriousness. Obviously, she was just thinking about questions and unconsciously showed her charm.
A wave of heat welling up from his lower abdomen, James immediately felt his mouth parched and his tongue scorched.
He lazily pulled loose his tie and unbuttoned his shirt, but the heat in his body did not ease up at all.
From afar, he could still smell the faint bitterness mixed with a unique sweet milk fragrance from Kara. This smell fascinated him. He got out of control and took a deep breath.
Damn it!
James was irritated and wanted to throw this troublesome little girl out of the study.
However, it was he who asked her to come to the study. He asked for trouble, so he was even angrier.
A wave of heat welled up in his body. He used his powerful possessiveness to suppress it.
James was the kind of person who would look even calmer with violent surges in his heart.
After weathering through many storms in business during the past few years, he was able to perfectly conceal his emotions.
At James' sudden cold words, Kara's teeth trembled with fear. The ballpoint pen fell off her mouth.
"..." James felt that somewhere in the lower part of his body hardened.
"Yeah, I don't understand."
Kara stared at the math question for half an hour but got nowhere. She wanted to swallow the ballpoint pen.
She knew every Chinese character, but she could not understand what the whole sentence meant.
'She was indeed a foolish girl!'
James took a deep breath to calm down his body. Then he turned off the computer and came up behind her to look at her test paper.
A shadow was cast in front of her. It turned out that James propped up his arm beside her. The upper three buttons of his black shirt were unbuttoned. He looked noble, mature and attractive.
He stretched out his robust arms, revealing his beautiful collarbone and muscular chest, idle and charming.
Kara's heart beat faster when she smelt the sweet fragrance of peppermint from him, and her face suddenly flushed.
