Truth, Lies and Deception (the boyband series)

Chapter 34

The BB postponed the rest of the tour until Rick’s stalker could be reprimanded. All the guys were allowed to go home for a break until the tour was to resume. The guys of BBKAY were packing their bags when an officer came to interview each one of them privately. He deliberately kept Christian for last.

Christian had just zipped up his last bag when he heard the knock on his door. He went and opened it expecting the officer and allowed him in.

“I’ve already been interviewed, you know.” He told the officer, closing the door.

“Not by me, you haven’t” the officer replied, facing him, “And I honestly don’t think that it’s just coincidence that every prank you’ve pulled has some link to the incidents where Rick was almost killed.”

“It is! I swear!” Christian protested, “It was just a harmless prank. I would never try to kill anyone, much less Rick Camden!”

The officer eyed him suspiciously.

“Where were you when the shot was fired?”

“I was backstage, hanging out with the other guys.” Christian said.

“They each said that you’d disappeared for a while and that they didn’t see you until security came to clear you guys out of the arena.” The officer returned.

Christian sighed.

“I had to use the bathroom, okay?”

“Right.”

“I did.”

“Why did you play this prank on Mr Camden?” the officer asked him.

Christian went on to explain the prank Rick played on him before.

“So you do have a motive.” The officer said taking notes in the notepad he held.

“I did not try to kill Rick!” Christian said firmly.

“I suggest you don’t try to leave the country, Mr Burnside.” The officer said.

“Look, you’ve already searched all my stuff and you haven’t found anything!” Christian stated his voice hard.

The officer shrugged.

“Maybe you didn’t pull the trigger, but that doesn’t mean you weren’t behind it.”

Christian’s face went red.

“Get out of my room.”

Mr. Burns-“

“Get out now!”

The officer nodded.

“We’ll be seeing each other again.” He walked out then.

Steve and Mark walked in then. Christian immediately faced them.

“You told him I disappeared?” he stormed.

“You did!” Mark protested.

“You guys are supposed to have my back! Whatever happened to friendship?” Christian shouted.

“This is really serious Christian.” Ste protested, “We couldn’t lie!”

“But you guys know I didn’t do it!” Christian said looking at them. When he caught their expression, his face fell.

“You think I did it.” He whispered, “You guys think I tried to kill Rick.”

“Christian-“

“I don’t believe this.” Christian said ignoring then.

“Christian, we’re your friends. Tell us the truth!” Mark appealed.

“Does it matter? You won’t believe anything I say. Your minds are already made up.” Christian answered. “Why don’t you guys just leave.”

Mark and Steve took one look at Christian and sighed as they made their way out the room.

Christian picked up his bags and opened his door. He dropped his bags in front the elevator as he waited for it to reach his floor when he heard Sara’s voice.

“Abigail’s a COP AJ! She lied to us! I was her friend and she couldn’t even tell me! Maybe she just pretended to be my friend.” Sara finished off sullenly. Christian noticed that their door was open and AJ was putting out some bags.

“Baby, I’m sure you guys’ were really close and you know why she had to keep it a secret. To protect Rick!”

The elevator bell rung then as it opened, empty. Christian stepped in with his bags.

What? Abigail was a COP? His jaw dropped as understanding dawned on his face. That explained why she was so uncomfortable around Rick. They weren’t close. They probably didn’t even know each other well at all! He knew something strange was going on between those two. No wonder she and Rick were always together. The bitch was protecting him. Well then, this definitely changes things.
