Chapter True 13
Became His True Love after Rebirth
Chapter 13 Busted
I found myself staring blankly at Henry.
“So, it was all a lie,” he stated, a cold grin spreading across his face.
“What?” I asked, my confusion evident.
“You claimed you no longer loved me, didn’t you?” Henry inquired, his fingers lightly brushing the corner of my lips.
With a raised eyebrow, he added, “It seems like you’re putting on a performance for your friends. Have
decided to play hard to get?”
you
It dawned on me that he was using that kiss to gauge my reaction. My rationality swiftly returned, and I hastily adjusted my partially disheveled clothes, struggling to maintain my composure.
“Is that necessary?” I retorted, bitterness and absurdity seeping into my heart.
“Henry, I’m not playing games with you. You’re just disoriented by my sudden coldness. Naturally, you’d feel a bit let down when a loyal dog suddenly stops wagging its tail at you, but you’ll adjust over
time.”
“Are you a dog?‘ Henry asked, seemingly unfazed by my despair.
“Aren’t you aware?” I replied coldly, adjusting my collar.
Henry was no naive boy. He was fully aware of my feelings for him, especially after my repeated declarations. He just didn’t take them seriously. The only thing that set me apart from the other women infatuated with him was that I had the opportunity to marry him.
He snorted, seemingly satisfied with my response. His mood visibly lifted, and he suggested, “Go take a
shower.”
With that
With that, he exited the bathroom.
I quickly shut the bathroom door and rushed to the mirror. Seeing my flushed face, I wished I could slap myself.
Why am I so weak? Henry is toying with me, and I almost fell for it.
It took me three minutes to process everything that had happened before I could finally calm down. I quickly showered and then went to bed.
Henry was already gone. The sound of a car engine cehoed from downstairs.
I felt a sense of unease as I watched his car disappear into the night from the window,
He probably wouldn’t return for a while. Tonight’s events were enough to convince him that he still had control over me, that he could continue to toy with my emotions.

I deliberately chose a sexy bodycon dress, I was aiming for a sophisticated yet seductive look. I knew I couldn’t compete with Viole
innocent and cute style, and I was confident that Harper had seen enough of it.
At the hospital, I placed a bouquet of flowers by Harper’s bedside and gently asked, “Harper, how’s your leg?”
Harper, who was engrossed in a game on his phone, quickly put it down upon seeing me. “I’m feeling much better now. The doctor said I could be discharged tomorrow. I just need to come back in a week to have the stitches removed.”
I sat next to the bed, casually tucking my hair behind my car, and asked, “That’s good. Isn’t your girlfriend visiting you today?”
“She has to work. We both need to work to lessen the burden on our families,” Harper explained, his youthful optimism shining through his charming smile.
I nodded and started making small talk with Harper.
After a while, I pulled out my phone and exclaimed, “How did my phone battery die so quickly?
Harper pointed to the bedside cabinet and offered, “I have a charger here.”
I opened the drawer to retrieve the charger. The socket was located just above the headboard. As I bent over to plug in the charger, my upper body was positioned over Harper, creating an intimate scene.
By the time I sat back down, Harper was blushing and couldn’t meet my gaze.
So innocent, I thought.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a figure at the entrance of the ward. Turning my head, I saw Noah standing there, giving me a long, intense look.
When did he arrive? Did he see me charging my phone? Did he see me deliberately getting close to Harper, trying to seduce him? This is awkward.
I greeted him, forcing a smile and asking, “Dr. Newman, what brings you here?”
Walking in, Noah casually replied, “Covering a shift.”
He checked Harper’s wounds and gave some basic instructions.
I stood awkwardly to the side, feeling a twinge of guilt.
Noah held a special place in my heart. In my previous life, the only time we interacted was when we teamed up against Henry. Before that, we barely knew each other, and he had never wronged me. In the end, he even helped me get medical treatment.
He glanced at me and asked, “Can you step outside for a minute?”
Reluctantly, I agreed, “Oh, okay.”

His black hair was fine and neatly parted to the side. As he lowered his head, his beautiful hairline was revealed. From my vantage point, I could see his sharp nose.
“How have things been with Henry lately?” he asked, not looking up.
“Same as always.” I replied nonchalantly.
*All marriages are the same, which is why some people seek excitement, but they often end up paying a heavy price, Noah’s voice was as calm and cold as his demeanor.
“Why don’t you convince your friend?” I asked, frowning.
Noah closed the patient’s file and finally looked at me. “I did, but he won’t listen to me.”
“In that case, I won’t listen to you either.”
I was surprised at my own flirtatious tone.
A strange expression flashed across Noah’s face. He seemed taken aback by my sudden change in tone.
I quickly reverted to my usual tone and said, “You’re his good friend, you know what he’s been up to over the years. I haven’t caused a scene or done anything outrageous. I’ve fulfilled my duties. I accidentally bumped into that boy earlier, and I’m just visiting him. There’s nothing going on between
us.”
I had drastically changed my behavior in front of Henry because I wanted a divorce, but I never intended to lose my manners in front of others. After all, I still needed to lead a normal life after the divorce.
Noah looked at me skeptically.
His coworkers had returned to the office. Noah waved his hand dismissively and looked away, “He’ll be discharged tomorrow. He’s fine now.”
Why is talking to this guy making me feel even more depressed than talking to Henry?
The worst outcome of my reckless behavior in front of Henry was getting a divorce, which is exactly
what I wanted.
On the other hand, I felt like I had been caught red–handed in front of Noah, as if I’d done something disgraceful and he had busted me.
I had planned to return to Harper’s ward after leaving Noah’s office to show some sympathy and exude more of my mature charm, but I changed my mind and quickly returned to Noah’s office.
I sat down in front of Noah and asked, “Dr. Newman, would you like to have dinner with me? I have some concerns about my situation with Henry, and I’d like to discuss them with you.
That was a blatant lie! I don’t want to talk about it at all. What I really want, I thought to myself, is for Noah to
