Chapter 954
Chapter 954 Caroline's gaze landed on Elvira's left hand, which was wrapped in a blood- stained bandage. She watched for a few seconds before she was about to head upstairs.
All of a sudden, Scott spoke.
"Carol." Caroline stopped walking and waited for Scott to continue his speech.
"I will post Elvira at the villa and hire a caregiver to take care of your daily needs," he stated.
Caroline sneered and turned to look at him. "How long are you planning to keep me captive?" "I never intended to keep you captive.
If you want to go out, get Elvira to
come with you," Scott said.
Caroline scoffed. "To keep watch on me, isn't it? I'm no different from a prisoner to you." Scott said, "Not really. I'm only concerned for your safety." "You don't have the right to say that as someone who wants me dead!" Caroline turned and walked upstairs upon saying that.
As soon as she entered the room, she smelled a familiar scent—it was Evan's unique cedar scent.
Caroline walked into the dressing room, where Evan's clothes still hung neatly, and brushed them gently.
Caroline thought, 'He's going to turn up, right?"
After a while, Caroline walked out of the bedroom and looked at the : . . ) opposite room with sorrow in her eyes.
She thought about how she had not managed to attend Kenny's funeral, so she wanted to visit his grave tomorrow.
Caroline was preparing to enter Kenny's room when she heard soft conversational voices coming from the stairway.
"Mr. Hendrix, it's been done. Ms.
Miller will be released from the police station tomorrow." Caroline froze upon hearing the bodyguard's remark. If she was not mistaken, the bodyguard was referring to Azure.
Caroline thought, 'Scott is trying to get Azure released? Why? Paige has never done anything to hurt Scott. Why is he targeting her as well?’ Caroline was blinded by rage and could not refrain from heading downstairs.
She heard someone coming up the stairs just as she took the first step down.
Caroline watched Elvira coldly. "You're not supposed to come up here!" Elvira walked closer to Caroline. "Did you overhear the bodyguard's conversation?" "So what if I did?" Caroline asked.
Elvira approached Caroline and fixed her turquoise eyes on her.
"This is Mr. Hendrix's personal affair.
If you dare to make any inappropriate moves, I won't hesitate to kill you!" Caroline sneered. "Kill me? Did Scott give you the order to do so?" Elvira said, "I can kill you without anyone's notice." Caroline was fearless. "Is that so? Scott killed a bodyguard as if he were an animal just because he spoke harshly to me. If you dare to kill me and Scott learns about it, you have to consider how miserable your own fate might be." Elvira could not help recalling Scott's methods upon hearing that. She felt a shiver down her spine and the sharp pain radiating from her amputation wound.
Elvira's face turned ghastly pale gradually.
Noticing Elvira's silence, Caroline was even more convinced of her speculation.
Elvira was scared of Scott.
She said, "Make way!" Elvira gnashed her teeth. "Don't think that you can rely on Mr. Hendrix's favoritism—" "You're just a subordinate, not worthy of challenging me!" Caroline reminded sternly.
Upon saying that, she shoved away Elvira and walked downstairs.
The hatred in Elvira's eyes grew as she gazed after Caroline's departing silhouette.
Elvira thought, 'Twon't tolerate a woman who disrupts Mr. Hendrix's work in addition to humiliating me! I have to figure out a way to make Caroline suffer so much she'll wish she's dead!"
