Chapter 13
Arabella furrowed her brow as Marco suddenly asked to meet her. However, for the past fifteen minutes, her fiancé hadn't uttered a single word. He was only focused on the coffee cup, from which even the steam had disappeared. "Honey, what do you want to talk about? You're scaring me," Arabella said, getting up from her seat and approaching Marco, who was sitting beside her, while wrapping her arm around his shoulder. Marco looked up and gazed at the beautiful face of his fiancée.
Of course, Marco couldn't divert his gaze from the woman who had been his partner for approximately three years. If it weren't for an unfortunate incident that Marco didn't want, maybe next year Marco would have proposed to his fiancée. Marco finally took Arabella's wrist and kissed it, making Arabella smile with all of Marco's affectionate and genuine gestures.
Then, Marco pulled Arabella to sit on his lap. Arabella happily leaned in and gave Marco a kiss right on the lips.
"Is there a problem at the office?" Arabella asked, making Marco shake his head.
"Not a problem at the office, but another issue," Marco said, making Arabella furrow her brow.
"Tell me. You wouldn't be like this if the problem wasn't serious and affecting you," Arabella said, as Marco had always been able to solve any problem he faced. It was rare for Marco to remain silent like this when inviting her to meet. So, Arabella thought that perhaps Marco was truly facing a significant problem. Arabella finally reached out her hand to gently stroke Marco's firm jaw.
"Do you also not want to tell me about it?" Arabella asked, making Marco shake his head.
"Of course, you need to know," Marco said, making Arabella smile.
"So, tell me," Arabella said, making Marco exhale deeply, as if preparing to tell everything to his fiancée.
"Do you love me?" Marco asked, making Arabella furrow her brow.
"What kind of question is that? Of course, I love you," Arabella said, slightly annoyed by her fiancé's question.
"If you love me, would you forgive my mistakes?" Marco asked again, making Arabella slightly suspicious of all his questions.
"Did you make a mistake? Is it about our engagement?" Arabella asked, making Marco nod. This made Arabella even more nervous about what Marco was going to explain to her, and she hoped it wasn't something that could threaten their relationship.
"Then, tell me," Arabella said, making Marco look into his fiancée's eyes.
"Soon, I will have a child," Marco said, making Arabella fall silent. Marco also saw Arabella's face looking at him silently. However, the next second, Arabella's laughter filled the room. This made Marco guess that his fiancée wasn't taking his words seriously. Arabella even wiped the corner of her eye, which was watery from her unstoppable laughter.
"Oh honey, I don't think it's April Fools'. Why would you make a joke like that?" Arabella asked again with the remnants of her laughter, making Marco remain silent, observing Arabella.
"I'm not joking. Because that's what's going to happen," Marco said, making Arabella raise both her hands as if surrendering to Marco's words, which she considered a joke.
"Okay, I really can't hold back my laughter anymore if you keep acting like that," Arabella said, making Marco just exhale deeply and wait for his beloved to stop laughing. Finally, Arabella was satisfied with her laughter and looked at Marco, who was still silent with his serious expression, prompting Arabella to respond seriously.
"Are you sure what you're saying is true and not a lie?" Arabella asked, making Marco nod. Arabella immediately got up from Marco's lap and looked at him with a displeased expression.
"What kind of joke is that? Have you betrayed me?" Arabella asked with an incredulous look, making Marco pull Arabella's wrist back to bring her closer.
"I haven't betrayed you. How could I do that? I don't have the courage to do that," Marco said, making Arabella fall silent for a moment.
"Then what mistake have you made?" Arabella asked, making Marco finally get up from his seat, trying to wait for Arabella to calm down a bit before he told her everything.
"This is really not what I intended. I really did it unconsciously," Marco explained, making Arabella even more confused about what he was trying to say.
"Get straight to the point," said Arabella, who seemed to be holding back her anger, making Marco sigh deeply. He would accept whatever action was taken against him, even if Arabella were to hit him, Marco would take it. "There's a woman who is carrying my child," Marco finally uttered, causing Arabella to fall silent. However, of course, her gaze sharpened as she looked towards Marco.
"So, the essence of what you're going to say is that you cheated on me behind my back?" asked Arabella, making Marco shake his head.
"I didn't cheat. It only happened once during the company anniversary night. I didn't even know the woman I slept with that night. And it turned out, when I met her, she was already carrying my child," Marco said, making Arabella immediately stand up from her seat.
"You've truly disappointed me," Arabella said. That was all she could say before leaving Marco alone. For Marco, a situation like this wasn't something he wanted to experience. At least, Arabella might have slapped him or screamed and vented all her emotions. But apparently, Arabella only uttered that one sentence and left him. For Marco, that was something more frightening. Marco might have chosen to get a slap from Arabella, but it seemed all his mistakes truly made his fiancée very angry.
Marco knew well how Arabella was when she was angry and really hated someone. It made Marco only able to rub his face roughly. Although he could predict this situation beforehand, experiencing it directly still made Marco's head throb violently. Marco had to find another way to persuade Arabella to stay by his side.
Even though, as Marco realized, there was a child in another woman's womb, for him, it was just a child inheriting the same blood as him. He could take it anytime and maintain his relationship with Arabella. That was the thought currently crossing Marco's mind, making him confident in his decision.
