Chapter 1355 Gilbert and Marigold (30)
After the party, Gilbert and Marigold's relationship evolved to an awkward phase. They were no longer as cold as before, yet they were not close, either. It was an uncomfortable feeling. They both knew what the problem was. However, neither seemed to want to solve it.
It was Marigold's first time in Hawthorn Inc. "Hello. I'm here to see Mr. Hawthorn," Marigold said softly at the front desk. There was a warm lunchbox in her hands. She'd come here to bring
dinner to Gilbert.
The employee didn't recognize Marigold, but she thought she looked familiar. However, she didn't intend to let her in. "Do you have an appointment?"
"An appointment? I don't." She shook her head. She didn't know that she needed an appointment to see Gilbert.
When the employee heard that she didn't have an appointment, she thought of her as yet another one of Gilbert's fans. "I'm sorry. I can't let you in without an appointment."
Although Hawthorn Inc was still not at the level of the Ten Elites, it was advancing well in Bardoff City. Gilbert was considered a new tycoon, and the women who came after him were aplenty. Hence, Gilbert had issued an order forbidding them from going up to see him. The employee at the front desk had to be alert.
Marigold did not make things difficult for the employee. She took out her phone and chose to call Gilbert. She was anxious because she didn't know if he would pick up.
Thankfully, he picked up after a few rings.
"Is there something you need?" Gilbert was still indifferent, as usual.
Marigold didn't think there was much of a problem. She was used to it anyway. She looked at the employee's curious gaze and said, "I'm downstairs at your company. Can you let me up?"
"You're here?" Gilbert thought it was weird. Marigold had never come to his company before.
"Yes. I have something for you." Marigold blushed in embarrassment.
Naturally, Gilbert couldn't see her blush over the phone. When he heard that, he said, "Alright, I'll get someone to fetch you."
The call ended.
The employee looked perplexed. "What is your relationship with our president?" She was worried that she had offended something she shouldn't have. How could she know that Marigold would be connected to Gilbert? She felt like a victim. She could only hope that Marigold wouldn't hold a grudge. If she merely whispered in Gilbert's ear, she would be fired.
"Nothing much. You don't have to worry." The employee had done nothing wrong. Furthermore, Marigold was not the type to tell tales.
The employee heaved a sigh of relief. Marigold didn't look like the type to tell tales.
Soon, Greg, his assistant, came downstairs. He recognized Marigold and went straight to her. "Follow me, Miss Wagner."
"Alright. Thank you," Marigold said in embarrassment.
"It's not a problem." Greg hoped that Gilbert would have a woman by his side. That way, he wouldn't need to worry so much.
They walked into the elevator. It was then that Greg noticed the lunchbox in Marigold's hands. He was stunned. "Are you... bringing him dinner?"
"Yeah. I noticed he frequently doesn't eat dinner." Marigold nodded, then asked, "Are things busy at the company? Why doesn't he eat?"
"He's used to it. I always remind him to, but he never listens to me." Greg was exasperated. He thought it was unsustainable for Gilbert to keep on like this, but he had no choice. He wasn't expecting Marigold to come by with food.
She'd never done it before. And now she was suddenly making him dinner. Did this mean that they were moving forward with their relationship?
