To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny)

Chapter 1264 Why Are You Suddenly Concerned About Her?

After dinner, Alec went to his study once more to work on his sketch.

Jenny didn't disturb him. She read in her bedroom. However, Gilbert suddenly called. "Gilbert, what's up?"

"Well, it's actually nothing," Gilbert said, hesitant to continue.

Jenny could tell that something was amiss and asked, "Gilbert, you can tell me anything. We don't keep anything from each other."

"I just want to ask you if Marigold has been to your hospital to do any checkups," Gilbert said after taking a deep breath.

Jenny was surprised. She sat up at once. "Gilbert, why are you suddenly so concerned about her?"

After he gave her that paycheck, they cut off all ties. Jenny thought Gilbert was truly that cold and never brought up Marigold to him again. But now, he was asking about her on his own.

Maybe Gilbert thought his actions were weird, too. When Jenny asked him that question, he didn't know what to say. "I'm just asking."

Just asking? Jenny didn't believe it.

"Have you seen Marigold?" Jenny asked, guessing. Gilbert probably wouldn't have asked the question if he hadn't seen her.

Gilbert said nothing, and Jenny had her answer.

"Well, I haven't seen her recently. On top of that, if she goes straight to the maternity department, I won't see her," Jenny answered.

Marigold had gone to see her because of a headache before. Other than that, Jenny knew nothing about what she did.

At the thought of her headache, Jenny grew worried. "She came to me before saying that she had a headache. I wanted to check on her, but she was worried that it would affect her child, so she ended up not doing anything. I don't know what she's like now."

"Headache?" Gilbert frowned. He sounded worried.

"Yeah. I don't know what it really was, but she was too concerned about her child to risk anything." Jenny couldn't see Gilbert's expression and didn't know what his reaction was like.

Gilbert said nothing. After exchanging a couple more words, he hung up.

Jenny looked at her phone, feeling worried. Could something have happened?

While she was deep in thought, footsteps sounded from outside the bedroom. Alec walked in. "Who were you calling?"

"Gilbert," Jenny said. She put her phone away, reassuring herself. "Are you done sketching?"

"No. Design requires inspiration." He was pretty much done with the gown, but the ring was leaving him stumped.

He'd given Jenny too many rings. Each of them were designed by industry professionals. Compared to them, Alec was nothing. Obviously, he was worried if Jenny would like his design.

Jenny knew of his worries and smiled. "There's no rush. Just rest. We need to board the plane to Parrington tomorrow. Maybe you'll be inspired over there."

They found each other in Parrington. There was a high chance that he would be inspired.

"That's true. We should sleep now." Alec walked toward her.

Jenny hurriedly took a few steps back. "What are you doing? Your room is next door."

"We're about to marry, Jenny. We don't have to sleep separately, do we?" And even if they slept separately, they frequently messed around in bed. Sleeping separately didn't really mean anything.
