Chapter 1156 Tell Me if This Is Real
By the time Jenny returned home, it was already nightfall. After she and Stephanie tried on their bridesmaid dresses, Jade treated them to dinner.
When she walked through the door, Alec was working in the living room. He instinctively turned his head to look at the door when he heard it being opened. "You're back." "Mmhmm. Have you had dinner?" Jenny asked with care.
Alec shook his head. "Not yet. I was thinking of having dinner after finishing this work."
When Jenny was not around, he didn't even bother having dinner, much less making them. He was just focused on working.
As he said that, Jenny already came to him and put the takeout she got on the table. "I knew you hadn't had dinner. Luckily, I got takeout for you."
"It was Jade's treat, yet you got takeout. Don't you feel embarrassed?" Alec teased her. He didn't continue working. Instead, he sat next to Jenny and hugged her.
Jenny smiled as she didn't mind that it was Jade's treat. "We're so close, so we won't care about things like these."
"That makes sense. Your relationship with Jade does seem quite good," Alec said as he unpacked the takeout. He didn't feel it earlier, but after Jenny came home, he started to feel a little hungry.
It was the food he liked, so he could tell that Jenny did not order something randomly. Instead, she had put thoughts into ordering the takeout for him.
Alec was pleased. "You're really great, Jenny."
"I just got you takeout, and that's great?" If she were to personally make him dinner, Alec would be over the moon, wouldn't he?
Alec nodded while digging in. "Of course. You won't be so concerned about me back then. This shows that I'm becoming more important in your heart. Of course, I feel happy."
He made a great case, not only about the fact that Jenny got takeout for him but also the fact that she cared more and more about him.
Jenny was stunned. She pursed her lips as she was not willing to admit it. "Don't flatter yourself. These are just the leftovers."
Alec smiled when he heard that. He didn't refute her as he knew it very well deep down.
"Did Max join you guys for dinner?" If Max did join them, then Alec would be a little annoyed as he should have followed them as well.
Fortunately, Jenny shook her head. "He didn't. He should be occupied with the wedding matters."
Alec nodded and said with a faint smile. "I didn't expect that he's quite serious. At first, when he said he wanted to pursue Jade, I thought he just wanted a casual relationship like before." "That's right. I thought so too back then." She even warned Max about it. She didn't expect that he was serious about it. They were even about to get married soon.
"I wonder when I will be able to marry the woman I love." Alec could not help but sigh while having his dinner.
Jenny rolled her eyes at him before getting up. "Enjoy your dinner. I'm going to the room to rest."
"You're not going to talk with me a little longer?" Alec asked.
"I have nothing to say to you." Jenny waved, then she went upstairs and disappeared from Alec's line of vision.
Alec chuckled helplessly as he watched her leave. "Alright. I have to continue working hard then!"
...
Two days later, it was Jade and Max's wedding.
There was a lounge dedicated to the couple on the second floor of the hotel. At that moment, the bride and the groom were making their final preparations.
Jade held Jenny's hand and was a little nervous. "Tell me, Jenny, is this real? Why do I feel it's a little unreal?"
She had sworn secretly to never trust a man again when she divorced Hayden. However, at that moment, not only did she trust a man again, but she was even going to marry him! "Jade, it's real." Jenny remained calm and collected. It was as if her composure could influence Jade and calm her down.
Jade took a deep breath and calmed herself down.
