Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 91
-POV
Ayame-
I let my feet swing while the two of us sat quietly in the examination room. She picked at her shirt and looked at the cream-colored tile beneath our feet. Why wasn't she saying anything? My breath hitched as my mind wandered. Has...has she finally realized that this is all my fault? From how Kyle looked, I know they should be alright, but I don't want to assume. Also, just because they were alright doesn't mean we are alright. However, if I had to choose one of the ranked members in our pack to show the perfect mask, it would be him. "The child is a Lycan." Emily whispered softly, finally breaking the silence.
I shot my head up and if I had my tail, it would be wagging right now. At least she's talking to me. I grinned and rolled the stool closer to her. "That's great news! I'm sure they will grow big and strong like their parents." Yeah.... I have to remember...I'll deal with my problems later. She nodded slowly as if thinking long and hard about how to respond. "Growing big and strong may be a problem."
"A problem?" I asked, guessing if this was the right thing to ask.
Again, she nodded slowly. "I.... The baby isn't as big as it should be, and they are going to create some kind of growth serum that will fix the effects caused by the wolfsbane." Her hands wandered from the hem of her shirt to grip down on the plastic cushion underneath her. "Okay." Her eyes shot up and she looked at me beyond confused. I sighed and walked up to her, staring Emily right in the eye. "You and Kyle can do this. If there was any mated couple that could get through times like this with a smile on their faces, it would be you two. Just remember until you get the green to go, we are all here for both of you. You're not doing this on your own."
She hummed softly while her eyes reflected her exhaustion. "Thanks, Aya." She whispered softly.
I smiled and heard the door click. The doctor walked in and turned to the two of us before giving Emily a white box. "Drink these once a day and you should be fine until we get that serum to you. Please drink this one now and wait a moment before walking about, just in case there are any adverse effects. None will be against the baby. It just might make you dizzy is all." He assured her.
"Thank you, Doctor." She whispered softly before grabbing the bottle he pulled off the top of the box. She chugged its contents and her nose wrinkled at the taste. Even from here, I could tell there was a rather odd smell to it.
"Alight, that should do it for now. If you need anything else during your stay, please don't hesitate to call." He said.
I took the box and bowed. "Thank you for your help."
"Of course, Luna Ayame. Anything for the Oden clan." He hummed before leaving us alone to head off and wait for our men.
I tucked the box on my hip and she didn't even press to do it herself for once. I was actually surprised, but also worried at the same time. I want my bestie back. But...did I deserve her back? Once we made it out of the hospital, four warriors appeared next to us. We both nodded to them out of respect and they bowed back. Two were from Zyair's guard and two were from home. Not one of them allowed us to walk around without supervision. Can I blame them after everything...? No...no I cannot.
While we walked across the courtyard, I looked around at all the strange creatures that illuminated even in the middle of the day while they bounced from one flower to the next. It was beautiful. Emily didn't say much on the walk back, but I knew she was thinking hard about everything the doctor had told them. Once we made it back to the main castle, a maid appeared in front of us. "The King and his guests went to the dungeons, and they have not come back yet. Would you all like something to eat?" She asked quietly. "We will supervise. Luna, you and Emily can go wait in the sitting area, we will bring it to you." One of our warriors suggested.
"Of course. Thank you." I tapped on Emily's shoulder and she nodded before walking off to the sitting area with soft blue couches and an antique fireplace with a white piano situated between two sets of bay doors, draped with floral accents. I placed the white box on the aged wooden coffee table in the middle of the room before plopping myself on the couch and snuggling into a pillow. Emily sat down next to me and rested her head on my lap. I grinned softly and looked around for something to read. I...I may be over thinking things? Maybe? I winced as my mind continued to stir like it has been for the last few days.
So loud and the most subtle thing would trigger it. The fear.... The darkness..... The...memories.
The other two guards were still with us and I turned to one of them. "Could you please grab me something to read? Anything is fine." I asked and the one closest to us nodded at my request. He headed over to the bookshelves in the corner, pulled out a small book, and handed it to
me.
I forced a smile and pulled open its pages, ready to devour another historical record of my personal paradise. I petted Emily's hair softly for a while before I heard subtle snoring. I glanced down and she was out like a light. There were sandwiches prepared, but I still wasn't all that hungry after the escapades of last night and the swirling doubt consuming me. So, I just let them be while I gave Emily some time to rest. I, however, decided to take the time to desperately search for a...a moment of silence. -POV Donna-
The jeep took another hard left and I kept myself calm as I focused on the goal at hand. My blithering idiot of a daughter had already told me they were coming for me and little did she know I was already here. But technically, I'm not on their territory. So, I'm not breaking any laws of my banishment and they don't even know where I ran off to, since those spies on my house went back home. I haven't seen any of them in days and this was the perfect time to pull in my last resort. Well...next to last. I don't think anyone wants me to pull on my final resources. The car pulled up to a stop in front of the large iron gates guarding the rest of Bodhi Cora from the werecats. They do like their privacy. Thankfully, they aren't as bad as the dragons. "Name?" The guard asked and I rolled down my window, letting my glasses slip down the ridge of my
nose.
"Donna Oden, Luna Mother of the Tri-shifter pack." I proclaimed.
He looked at me for a moment with those sharp black slits for irises and golden orbs for eyes. "Really? Last time I checked she was banished from the Tri-shifter pack along with her daughter, who is now waiting execution."
I took a breath and sighed. "What has my daughter done to cause such a sentencing?" I asked innocently.
He rolled his eyes. "Like you don't know. Be gone, woman!" he bellowed.
I scoffed irritably and nodded to the driver in the rear-view mirror. "I don't know how my daughter's transgressions have anything to do with me. I just wanted to see an old friend." I turned my nose up at him and he smirked.
"There are no friends of traitors in the werecat territories. Please turn around or we will detain you and wait for the alphas to retrieve you." He warned again with a hiss in his undertone.
I grit my teeth and leaned back in the seat. "Drive." I ordered.
"Yes, ma'am." The incompetent fool called from the front seat before backing up slowly and driving me back to the hotel in the neutral zone. I will be back and next time...they will let me in. They all will.
-POV Malerie-
I stared blankly at the cell across from me housing a crying Adolpha. I asked to be put away from this crybaby and what did I get, a front row seat to her melt down. "Will you stop crying already?!" I shouted and her breath hitched before she started to hiccup instead like a toddler. "Do you understand what is about to happen to us, Malerie?!" She shrieked through a hiccup or two.
"I don't care. They won't harm me. I'm their sister. That's why we were banished in the first place. I'm sure they will do the same again once all the leaders go home. They just want to save face." I rolled my eyes and she screamed irritably before standing to her feet.
"I cannot believe I've listened to you after all these years when you are this ignorant! I should have known it would lead me to a broken heart and a cell in the dungeons!" She bellowed.
"Are you kidding me?! The only reason why I was down here in the first place was because you decided to challenge an alpha!" I shouted back!
She rolled her eyes. "Oh really? And you didn't?!"
"Girls! Please!" Sawyer shouted and we both shot glares her way. "Just stop...know when you have been beaten and just...stop." She sighed before moving to the corner of her cell and pulling her legs up to her chest. Traitor.
Know when I've been beaten?! No! I will not! I will find a way out of this. I always do. I don't know why these girls are so pessimistic, but if they want to give up...fine. I have no more use for them anyway. Ayame is the Luna now. My only goal is to get out of here and find an alpha mate. I'm sure he's out there for me and I know he'll be strong enough to pulverize this disgusting pack.
Once he's through with them, there will be nothing left to cry over.
