Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 69
-POV Edon-
"Conri!" I bellowed when I reached the fifth floor. I know I told Ayame that I would head back to the office, but I cannot let this go. He ignored Vil and I's opinions on this without even a second thought! He ignored his group and we are not just Alphas, betas, and gammas, we are brothers! I banged on his door, and he threw it open irritably.
"What?!" He shouted back.
"You don't overrule anyone in that room! We are the alphas, but we take our team into consideration, Conri!" I growled back. "This is not a dictatorship!"
"I don't need to listen to anyone in that room if I'm making the right choice! They decided to be our ranked members! They had a choice then! If they don't like it then they can step down!" He snapped back, his eyes now black as night.
This was his Lycan talking now. His spirit didn't allow another say in the matter. I can't let this continue. I let my bear come forth and he overpowered Conri's Lycan almost immediately. "Submit!" My spirit roared and I felt his Lycan wince before Conri forced a smile on his face. "N-Not happening, brother! You let me stand in front, so get in line!"
I shoved him. Hard. He slammed into the wall at the other end of his room and he growled, releasing his claws. "Submit, Conri! I let you stand in front because you are supposed to be the level-headed one! I don't know what is going on with you, but I will not allow this to continue! You either submit or get your shit together!" I shouted again and Conri lunged at me. We slammed into the hallway and before I knew it, my dad had Conri by the throat and Vil was...doing his best to hold me back, but I got one good punch in for good measure. Conri's lip split and the blood started to pool.
"What the hell are you two doing in the pack house?!" Our father shouted. He may have retired, but he is still our elder and our spirits tend to listen to him.
"Conri needs to get his shit together or move aside!" I shouted.
"I need to?! You came up here just to pick a fight, Edon!" Conri was still thrashing against our dad's hold and I smirked at his attempts.
"Cool off! Both of you!" Dad shouted again. "I cannot believe I'm saying this to grown ass men but, split up! The pair of you!"
Conri shrugged dad off of him and bolted down the stairs, shifting as he went. "Edon, what happened?" Vil asked while dad adjusted his now wrinkled t-shirt. "Usually throwing a punch is my thing." Vil said, trying to lighten up the mood.
I rolled my eyes. "I think my spirit had enough." I growled.
"Edon, you were the one who wanted him to lead. Let him lead, son." Dad walked up and patted my shoulder once my eyes turned back to hazel.
"It's hard to do that when I keep seeing him making stupid choices. I can't just sit by and watch him bring our friends up for slaughter."
"Well, he is being stupid, but he is the oldest, even though you're the strongest. Keep that in mind, kid." My dad said before heading downstairs.
I sighed and leaned back on the wall. "So now what?" Vil chimed in. "I do not mind going after his ass and making this a round two situation."
I glared at him. "Not now, vil."
"What do you mean not now? When I was messing up before, you two were on me like life itself. Now you are just going to let this slide?" Vil huffed angrily and I agreed with him. When he was fighting Ayame, we were both pushing for him to play nice. Now, I'm looking at Conri like he's untouchable.
"I hate to say I agree with you, but I do. However, maybe we should use a different tactic on Conri." I leaned off the wall and the gears started to spin in my mind while I smiled deviously.
Vil smirked at the change in atmosphere and folded his arms against his chest. "What do you have in mind?" -POV Ayame-
Dinner was delicious and I tried to ignore the tension in the room while Emily and I talked amongst ourselves. Conri was nowhere to be seen and I didn't even make a plate for him. My wolf had already told me he was miles away from the pack house. Knowing him, he was probably on a run, and he wasn't coming back any time soon. He can make his own leftovers.
When the guys came in for dinner, I pretended Emily and I didn't hear the fight upstairs and I was shocked it was Edon who decided to confront Conri. I honestly thought it would have been Vil. When we were setting the table, Edon and Vil kissed my cheek and acted like nothing even happened. Edon didn't even have a scratch on him. I'm glad for it, but I'm not too sure how Conri looks. All I know is, by the way the two of them looked at Vince, Kyle and Charlie, those knuckle heads had something brewing.
"Why do I agree with you?" My wolf called and I giggled.
"Because you know I'm right." I sang right back. Edon turned a bit to see my smile and tapped my nose. "Anything I should know?" He asked.
I shook my head. "Nope, just bonding with my wolf." I hummed back, thanking the goddess that my - and her - thoughts aren't on full blast by default. I had to work at dropping my wall. However, I'm surprised how easy it is for me to have my wolf in the first place. She has become second nature to me and my closest friend.
"Ayame?" Charlie said. I turned my attention his way and a caring grin formed on my lips while he tried to think of the right thing to say. I want to be on Charlie's side. I will be on Charlie's side. I know Conri has a point, but I'm also not that selfish to risk anyone's life for my own. "What's up, Charlie?" I shifted my weight, waiting to hear what my brother had to say. It was great having my dad back and he even stays at the pack house from time to time, but Vince, Kyle, and Charlie became the brothers I never thought I'd have. They protect me and make me feel like a baby sister. Sometimes a little too much and it can get annoying, but having that familial structure is totally worth it.
"Listen. I'm going to head back down to Boston. I'm not going to like it, but I really need to make sure Malerie and Donna don't do anything stupid." I opened my mouth to object, and he raised his hand. "Let me finish. It does bother me to be around her, but I would rather do that by myself than put Kyle and Emily at risk. I will keep you guys posted and I might have to stay down there for a while. It's easier than driving back and forth, but I want you to know, Conri isn't forcing me to do anything. I signed up for this, even though I was being childish before." He smirked and jammed another bite of food in his mouth.
Kyle leaned back in his chair while the tension on his face dissipated. "Thanks Charlie." He said, looking at his mate.
Emily blushed at the attention and turned away. "I don't even know what you two are talking about, but don't forget I can hold my own. I may not look it, but I promise you, I can put those three little girls on their ass."
Without warning, Vince spewed soda across the table and the laughter was infectious. The room lightened almost immediately, and I quickly helped Elizabeth clean up the mess her ridiculous gamma created.
"Sorry Luna." Vince said, finally controlling his laughter. I pursed my lips while Elizabeth ran off with the dirty napkins.
"Its fine." I sighed and plopped down on my seat. "But back to you Charlie. Thank you for doing this. I'm hoping that I can help as soon as I complete the transformation. It will be right after the full moon. Hopefully it won't take too long for me to get my wolf legs."
"I'm just glad we came to this decision. We had been plotting our revenge on Conri and that took up our whole hour. I completely forgot that we hadn't made a decision." Edon said, nodding to Charlie. "You just make sure you're careful, you hear?"
Charlie waved his hand nonchalantly. "No problem, man. Like Emily said, they are weak and easy to deal with."
"Yeah, as long as they don't have anyone else on their side." Vil grumbled.
"They shouldn't so far. The spies have been keeping close watch on anyone who comes in or out of that house. Human or otherwise." Vince informed the group.
The table nodded unanimously. "Anything too interesting?" Edon pushed.
"Nothing. Other than Richard, they are flying solo."
"Speaking of animals, can we backtrack for a moment? Wolf legs? What's a 'wolf legs?"" Vil asked with a grin.
The guys smirked and I blushed, looking at my hands as per my nervous habit. "Um...it's what I'm calling it. I've never walked on all four limbs before. It might be different and I'm sure it won't be easy!"
"It won't be." My dad called from the entryway.
I spun out of my chair and ran up to hug him. I haven't seen him in a while, but he's getting a lot stronger as the days go on. I am beyond happy to see the shift. He seemed like a man again. He twirled me around and placed me back on my feet. "Hey dad!" I shouted, pleasantly surprised. "Hey starlight."
