Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 31
-POV
Tanya-
I stared at the gardening crew adding to and sprucing up the grounds while the wedding planner barked out orders. It was the night before the big day and our rehearsal was going to start in a couple of hours. The only thing missing was the groom. I don't know why I even bothered with all of this. We should have just signed the paperwork and went about our day. I'm not really in the mood for this and, clearly, neither is he.
"Ma'am?" The wedding planner was standing in front of me gripping her rather thick binder as if this was the moment of truth.
"Yes?" I asked curiously.
"I just want to make sure our seating charts are in order. One of your guests called, last minute, and requested an addition be made."
I furrowed my brow. "Addition?" Who would be adding a guest to our list at the last minute on such an occasion? "How dare they disrespect our family in such a manor. Who is this insolent guest requesting such accommodation?!" I grumbled irritably. Her face wrinkled and she looked down at the name. "The guest would be under Oden, miss."
My face paled as I remembered my father's most crucial benefactors. I cannot piss them off. "And who would they like us to add to the registry?" I stuttered, changing my entire attitude towards the insult. If I can even call it that anymore. Oden Industries is the reason why our family hasn't gone under over the last three years. They own thirty percent of our stock and, to be honest, I'm surprised they haven't left yet. Father says the only way to keep our other stock holders is to keep the Oden Family happy. Without question. If not, we could kiss the remaining stock holders good bye.
"Their sister will not be able to make it. One of the Triplets would like to bring their betrothed instead." She read directly from the parchment attached to my original seating chart.
I winced. "Is there a reason why Malerie cannot make it?" I don't have many close friends, but I can consider her one of them. We used to hang out together when we were young. She had such a regal persona about her. I idolized her. Her brothers, on the other hand, were a completely different story. They were pretty much untouchable, even when we were kids. If they'd come around it was because their father wanted them to sit in on the meetings. I don't even think I've held a conversation with any of them. "There is no actual reason, Ma'am."
I rolled my eyes. Whatever. I cannot go against them, so why am I even asking? "Sure. Whatever. Make sure they are happy. I cannot stress how important that table is." I warned.
"Y-yes miss. I will fix it right away." She ran off and started barking more orders.
"Hello Tanya." A gravelly voice called from behind me and my body instantly shuddered.
I took a deep breath and threw on my mask, knowing there were prying eyes. I spun around with the most realistic grin I could muster and forced my pink pumps to push me forward. I raised my arms and he cleared his throat, going along with the charade. "Hey, honey. I'm so glad you made it! I know it was short notice, but luckily the change in the rehearsal date hadn't messed up your flight schedule."
He wrapped his arms around me a little too tightly and I rested my head on his chest. "Of course not, sweetheart. I had my men get me here as fast as they could." He said through gritted teeth.
I winced when his squeeze became tighter. "B-babe." I whispered, trying to get him to loosen up.
He slowly let go and a grin formed on his lips. "Yes dear?" The sickly sweet tint to his tone and the darkness behind his eyes made my face pale. He...he still hasn't found her and we are moving in together after our 'wedding! What...what am I going to do?
-POV Ayame-
"A wedding?!" I said excitedly. I don't really have any friends and I would love to go to a wedding. They are so beautiful.
My triplets all smirked at my excitement. "Yes, a business partner of ours is hosting a wedding in Paris for his eldest daughter. She is getting married this Saturday."
I gasped. "Wait, that's tomorrow?!"
Emily giggled. "Don't worry about it. With everything going on here the last couple of days, it's been a bit of a challenge to tell you any of this."
I tilted my head trying to remember the whole week...and what a full week it was. After Conri fought Malerie, she was immediately taken away. His parents arrived shortly after, and I wasn't even allowed to visit them. I haven't seen their faces and I wasn't allowed to leave the fifth floor. I could hear the screaming anyway. It didn't matter if I met them or not...I already knew one of them already hated me. The 'disgusting human girl who isn't fit to rule with their sons. I shivered at the memory.
Then, we had two more rogue attacks, and the guys were starting to get antsy. Hence the refined to fifth floor thing. I already knew this was about me. It was written all over their faces. No one wanted to say it was though. I'm not going to lie, ignorance is not bliss. Now, it's Friday and the most I can say about my week is the luxury of sleeping next to either Edon, Vil, or Conri every night and the new training schedule I was on at the request - or order - of Charlie. The training was the only thing that allowed me to leave the fifth floor and I was required an escort. "Ayame!" I jumped and looked around the room. I dozed off. Vil was looking at me with furrowed brows and I knew he was the one that called for me. "Stay in the present, Angel."
I blushed at the nickname. Now all three of them had a different one. It was cute. Little One, Angel, Princess.... They all used them interchangeably, but I can tell which ones they favored over the others. "Sorry, Emily is right.... This has been a long week. Do we have anything to wear to this event?" I'm not sure what type of business associates these are, but after dealing with the Alpha couples on top of our actual pack business, I knew this wouldn't be as easy as a nice sundress. Vince rolled his eyes. "Knowing Tanya, It's going to be suffocating regardless."
"At least there are ten of us. We don't have to converse with anyone else as long as your parents are on their best behavior." Kyle added, making Edon, Conri, and Vilkas stiffen.
"Do you know who she is getting married to?" I asked, hoping the conversation would relax on its own. Hearing about their parents is concerning sometimes.
"Don't care. We didn't even know we were going to this damn thing until our parents showed up." Vil growled. R-Right, the parents again.
"Umm...anyway...my mom brought us some things to try on. We can decide today and bring them on the plane with us."
I did hear Paris, but I guess it didn't click on what that actually meant.... "I've never been on a plane before." I muttered.
Emily giggled. "Neither have I. I wasn't really raised as a ranked member now, was I?" She added.
Kyle grinned softly and pulled her hand up to kiss it. "It doesn't matter. I won't let you out of my sight." He confirmed.
I thought about how big this plane would have to be for us to disappear within its quarters in the first place. "It's a private plane, princess." Edon whispered. I was snuggled into him on the other couch while we sat across from Kyle, Vince and Emily. Charlie was sitting next to us while Conri was at his desk and Vil leaned into the armchair.
"Ohh...okay." I said, like that would make a difference.
"Yeah, and the Alphas have their own private quarters." Kyle said with a mischievous grin. I felt my face get even redder and Emily graciously elbowed him for me. "What?!"
"Can't you ever see she's uncomfortable, you dork?" Emily grumbled.
She got to her feet and huffed before reaching out her hand towards me. "Where are you going?" All four men asked at the same time, resulting in a chuckle from Charlie and Vince.
"To go pack. Goodbye." Emily said. I wanted to leave at this point anyway. Kyle really is like an older brother, going out of his way to embarrass me. I just hope I don't embarrass them at this party. Aside from those three alphas, that were drooling over me for three days before they finally left, I haven't seen any of their 'business partners.' Edon said those Alphas were just requesting assistance and we shouldn't have to deal with them on a regular basis. Business partners are a whole different story. This will be rather interesting. Once we made it down the hall, Emily started giggling and I looked over at her completely confused. "What's so funny?" I asked, no longer able to stop the smile on my face.
She rolled her eyes. "Oh, come on, you know they hate it when we do that, but I can't help it. It really is too much fun messing with them."
I huffed as we made it to my old room. "You're a mess."
"You're the one with four rooms. When are you just going to pick a room to move into?" She asked, pointing at yet another thing I've been avoiding.
"I can't choose between them, Em.... It just doesn't feel right." I sighed defeatedly.
"Well, if I had to choose for you, go with the one you're already sleeping with."
I choked on air as she rummaged through my closet. "Emily!" I shouted. I haven't been able to go past kissing with Vil and Conri, but that doesn't mean she has to pour salt on that wound too!
She shrugged. "Oh, you really have to get over that. We are not the most modest species on the planet when it comes to sex, Ayame." She added.
I shook my head and pulled one of the bags out from under my bed. "Just find some clothes for me already." I groaned.
"I'm just saying, Edon would love that!"
"I'm just saying, let it go!" I called, throwing a pair of leggings at her.
Bad choice. This became an all-out clothing war and, by the end of the battle, I was hiding behind my bed and she was using the closet door for cover. "Do we even want to know?" Edon asked.
I shot up from my hiding place, facing Edon and Kyle. "Nope!" I called.
Emily started laughing again. Ugh, for someone older than me, she can be a kindergartner sometimes. However, I can't really blame her. I was the one who started the mayhem. "Did any of the clothes actually make it into a suitcase?" Kyle asked through his snickers. I ran around the bed and skidded to a halt in front of them. "Give us twenty minutes. I'll be ready." I huffed.
"Uhuh." Edon said skeptically. He leaned down and kissed my cheek. "We will see you then."
I nodded quickly and they closed the door behind them. "Emily!" I shouted with a set of bright pink cheeks matching my red ears. She pulled herself together and walked up to me.
"Okay...okay...I'm sorry. Let's get the room cleaned up and I already know the perfect dress for the wedding. You will love it." She said, already carrying a black garment bag. "Well?"
She placed it delicately in my duffel bag and started grabbing some of my jeans and sun dresses. "Well, what?" "Do I get to see it?"
She shook her head and quickly placed the other clothes on top. "Nope! It's a surprise and I cannot wait to see it on you."
"Okay." I didn't think much of it. I've realized Emily really enjoys dressing me up for things, so at this point, I don't care.
After I put in some undergarments, and lost the fight on the type of undergarments I'd bring on this trip, I zipped up the bag and the two of us headed to her room. Emily only allowed some form of string or lace. "Thankfully, I already packed yesterday so they won't be too mad at us." Emily said with relief.
I checked my phone and I was sure we were still within the time as we made it into Kyle and Emily's room on the fourth floor. "Why would they be mad at us?" I asked, forcing myself not to panic.
She grabbed her suitcase and giant make-up case and walked up to me. "They won't be mad, per se. I was just kidding. Those men could never be mad at us."
I nodded silently and tightened the hold on my duffle strap. Emily easily carried her bags down the stairs and I was a bit out of breath by the time we hit the bottom step. I'm still working on the whole adding muscle to my workout thing.
We were met with the guys and an older couple who held two very different expressions. One, a woman, who looked to be a replica of Malerie aside from her silver hair and black pantsuit. Even down to the disgusted look in her eye. The other was a man with green eyes like Conri and a smile on his face that was warm enough to melt the Ice Queen's scowl. "Finally." He said before picking me up and spinning me in a circle.
I was placed back on my feet and froze where I stood. "Umm...hi?" I said completely mortified and frozen in place.
Vil took my hand and pulled me towards the three of them. Conri grabbed my bag, and Edon stood in between me and the man protectively. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle her, My name is Connery Oden." He nodded to my triplets. "Their father." He said.
I smiled brightly. Finally, is right. I pulled away from Vil, pushing against the urge to pull me back. "Oh, that makes sense. Nice to meet you. My name is Ayame Pierce." I said before bowing my head. I mean he was the Alpha before them and I read that it is customary to show absolute respect to your elders in the supernatural world.
Connery chuckled and ruffled my hair before I looked up at him. "Oh, no need for formalities!" He was rather loud. I was surprised by that, but it made sense. It told me where his boys got their flamboyant attitudes. Well... Edon and Vil at least.
I straightened my stance and nodded. "Oh, okay. Still, it's nice to meet you."
He nodded and rubbed his thick beard. "Yes, I heard there were some issues happening over the last week and I completely understand why they were so protective. I would have done the same." He added seriously.
I tilted my head. "Dad, it's time to go." Conri said sternly, cutting off the conversation.
Connery cleared his throat and led the way. "Right...no sense dilly dawdling!" He called.
"A character, isn't he?" Vil said, rolling his eyes, but there was a small grin on his face that he couldn't hide. At least I can say they like their father.
I smiled up at him and nodded. "It's amazing." It reminded me.... It reminded me of what my father could have been.
