The True Lady Strikes Back novel (Cecilia and Christopher)

Chapter 56

Cecilia put down the bottle and sat on the couch. She crossed her legs and stared at Devon calmly.

Devon felt regretful at that moment.

"Sorry, Cecilia. I didn't mean it. I was just too angry and wanted to rely on Niklaus to teach you a lesson."

"How do you plan on doing that? Don't tell me you were going to drag me into this private room and beat me up?"

Devon did want to beat Cecilia, but not literally.

However, he couldn't bring himself to tell the truth. Shaking. his head, he said, "I only wanted to scare you, then swoop in to save you, hoping you'd fall in love with me."

There was nothing wrong with his explanation, but Cecilia didn't believe a word.

"Did you tamper with my fruit wine?"

Devon looked at Cecilia confusedly. "What? I don't know."

Cecilia knew that Devon didn't do it. He left the private room very early and had no chance to do it.

Still, that didn't mean he didn't know it. It was probably he who asked someone to do it.

It was common for some rich and powerful boys to work together to trick girls.

Devon met Cecilia's eyes and quickly raised his hand to make a vow. "It's not me. If I did it, let a car take me out next time I step outside!"

He hated Cecilia for disrespecting him and hurting his wrist, so he wanted to teach her a lesson, but he wasn't planning on doing it that night.

It was by coincidence he met Niklaus, He lost control of

mself and made a mistake.

Cecilia didn't believe Devon's vow and picked up the bonte of wine on the coffee table.

When Devon saw it, his back muscles tensed. As a result, he hurt his wound, causing his blood to gush out further. Thinking of the sharp pain in his wound when the alcohol was poured into his injury, he trembled with fear and cried out. "In my current state, I'd have no reason to lie if I were actually guilty

Looking at his slo**y face, Cecilia averted her gaze in didan and put the wine bottle back on the coffee table.

"Did you hire those people in advance to deal with me?"

"No. I did it on a whim. My father asked Niklaus for help several times. I knew him and happened to see him here, so...

Hearing that, Cecilia looked at Niklaus

He directly ignored Cecilia.

Since their plan failed that night, even if the police came, they - would be guilty of provoking trouble at most. He would, at most, be detained for a few days. Cecilia knew what Niklaus was up to.

She said affirmatively. "If you enter the police station tonight, you won't be released in a short time."

As soon as she finished speaking, there was a knock on the door of the private room.

The police arrived.

Looking at the gory scene in the private room, the policeman stopped in his tracks.

Then he walked in quickly to check the wounds of the several

gangsters.

He breathed a sigh of relief after making sure there were no

tatal injuries

He briefly asked about the situation, and Cecilia told him the truth.

She included the incident in which the gangsters had intended to harm her, only for her to turn the tables and beat them. instead.

Although she was a bit cruel, the police didn't say anything because she was merely defending herself and didn't kill anyone or cause any severe injuries.

After asking his colleagues to take Devon and the others away. he said to Cecilia, You are the party involved, so you need to go to the police station to make a statement." Cecilia still had something to deal with, so she couldn't go there for the time being.

'Sorry, I don't have time tonight. Can I give my statement tomorrow?"

She was the victim. The policeman briefly asked her about what had happened. Then, he left his phone number and left.

Yvette quickly walked in.

Seeing a messy private room, she immediately asked with concern, "Cecilia, are you hurt?"

I'm not hurt, Yvie. I have something to discuss with you.

When Cecilia said that, she closed the door of the private

room.

Seeing her serious expression, Yvette turned serious.

"Ceci, as long as it's something within my power, I'll definitely help you."

She had invited Cecilia over to relax. Unexpectedly, something terrible happened to Cecilia, which caused Yvette to feel guilty. "The people you invited haven't left yet, right?" "No, they're still here. They always play until the early morning. What's wrong?"

Cecilia pulled Yvette to sit down on the couch. "Someone drugged my wine. Cooperate with me to put on a show."

Hearing that, Yvette stood up in agitation and asked anxiously, "Who was it? Who drugged you? Are you okay? Do you want to see a doctor?"

Then, she went to pull Cecilia, intending to take her to the hospital.

Seeing that Yvette was about to cry, Cecilia hurriedly said, "I'm fine. When I noticed it, I found a chance to vomit out the wine. But, I don't know who drugged me. The perpetrator could be someone from our private room or a waiter who was coming in and out. So, I'd like for you to help me stage a scene to draw the culprit out."

"It's good that you are fine. How can I help you to put on the show?"

"No one knows what happened after I left the private room. Go and book a room for me right away. After that, return to the private room and inform everyone that I felt unwell after stepping out earlier, so I've booked a room to rest."

If someone in the private room wanted to hurt Cecilia, they wouldn't miss that opportunity.

However, if it were the waiter, the police's arrival earlier would've alerted them, so the culprit likely wouldn't show themselves.

In either case, she had to try.

Yvette agreed. "Okay. I'll take you to the guest room area right

now."

"Can we avoid surveillance cameras and public areas?"

Cecilia was worried that someone would be watching her secretly. If she went to book a room now, Yvette's words would True Lady Sonkes Back

"Yes. We can take the internal passage."

After Yvette helped Cecilia settle down, she went back to the private room.

Everyone was surprised to see her coming back alone after being gone for so long.

"Yvie, didn't you find Ms. Yancey?"

Yvette frowned and said, "Ceci is drunk. She booked a room earlier and went to rest."

After saying that, she deliberately murmured, "Cecilia didn't drink much tonight. Why is she drunk?"

She looked at everyone's expression secretly but found nothing

wrong.

"Maybe she just felt tired, so she made an excuse and went to rest."

"Maybe. I'll ask the waiter to deliver her bag."

Yvette called the waiter and handed her Cecilia's handbag.

"Send it to the guest room area. Ask the manager to send the bag to Room 601 and put it on the coffee table. Be gentle. Don't wake up the guest." She deliberately said the room number in front of everyone, intending to keep the culprit informed.

Next, she drank, sang, and played games with everyone as if nothing happened.

She put on a gleeful front, but she was discreetly observing

everyone.

From time to time, someone took out their mobile phone and sent a message, causing Yvette to feel as if everyone was suspicious. She wanted to grab all their phones and check them one by

one.

But, it was a pity that she couldn't.

Suddenly, someone proposed to leave.

"Yvie, my friend is looking for me. I have to go."

"No. Today is my birthday, so everyone has to listen to me. No one is allowed to leave until the early morning!"

Yvette wanted to wait until Cecilia found out the culprit before calling it a night.

Due to her insistence, that person had no choice but to stay.

Meanwhile, Cecilia lay on the bed with her clothes and didn't even take off her high heels.

She closed her eyes and pretended to sleep, listening carefully.

About ten minutes later, she heard a beep and the door to the room opened.
