Chapter 111
Chapter 111
If Sunny could enter Tanner Lazarus' circle, her connections and status would be beyond the reach
of others.
Not only could their family bask in her glory, but they could also walk with their chins up in front of the entire Shirley family and River City in the
future.
Yara started plotting it in her head. The more she thought about it, the more excited she became. She could even imagine Harold, Joshua, and Jeremiah's family coming over to flatter and compliment them. They would no longer constantly boast about Cora being the most formidable daughter in the Shirley
family.
Sunny had her own ideas in mind. She wanted to gain a firm foothold in the Shirley family. She would let Harold and the others see her value so they would no longer try to sell her to other families
like she was a commodity!
Around noon the next day, Zyaire gave them a call and told them that Tanner was free on Saturday afternoon. Hence, they could bring Suzy over for a
visit. 1
Jarold told Yara and Sunny of this news, and the two were so happy that they were unable to get a good night's sleep for a few days. They even asked around to know about Tanner's preferences and
prepared various precious gifts.
On Saturday, Zyaire took the Shirley family to
Tanner's place.
Inside the car, Yara instructed Sunny to present herself well in every possible way to try to make
Tanner like her.
Sunny naturally knew the great significance of this trip, and she was so nervous that her fingers grew numb. She kept thinking that she had to give this everything she had to win Tanner's favor.
The car stopped outside the mansion, and Sunny took a deep breath. With a smile on her face, she proceeded to follow Zyaire from behind.
The servant welcomed everyone in. Since Tanner knew they were coming, he was already sitting in the living room waiting.
Seeing Tanner, Jarold and Yara could not help but
be nervous and respectful.
Zyaire was merely focused on introducing Sunny to
Tanner.
With a soft smile on her face, Sunny called out sweetly, "Grandpa Lazarus, I've heard so much about you from Mr. Liam. I finally get to meet you in
person today."
With a refined and approachable face, Tanner said with a smile, "I've heard about you from Zy as well.
You're the student he's the proudest of."
Sunny immediately smiled modestly. "It's only because Mr. Liam has taught me so well. I still have plenty to learn."
Tanner nodded with a smile and asked them to sit down. Then, the servant came over to serve tea.
Everyone exchanged a few words. They were just expressing their admiration and respect for Tanner. Half an hour later, Yara shot a meaningful glance at Jarold, who finally voiced the purpose of their visit
today.
"Mr. Liam is fond of Neenee and planned on promoting her work. He wanted her to participate in the National Style Painting Exhibition, so Neenee also attached great importance to this event. She locked herself in the room every day to study painting. Later, she received the honor of Mr. Liam and the person in charge of the exhibition. They told her that her painting was selected. However, when we went there on opening day,
Sunny's painting wasn't displayed."
He paused for a while before continuing, and his tone sounded more modest, "These past few days, we've been thinking that it must be because Neenee's painting is still lacking, which is why it was removed from the exhibition. So today, we
came here to bother you for a pointer or two."
Jarold did not tell him that they came to ask Tanner
to allow Sunny's painting to be exhibited again. He
merely said that they came to get some advice.
Yara smiled gently and added, "Neenee hasn't been drinking, eating, or sleeping for the past couple of days. She's lost a ton of weight. We feel distressed for her. That's why we did everything we could do to ask Mr. Liam to bring us to see you."
Tanner took a sip of tea and said slowly, "I've seen Sunny's painting. The reason it was withdrawn was
"It was because of me!"
Suddenly, there was a cold voice from outside the living room. Everyone turned their heads in surprise. They saw a person slowly walk down the
stairs.
Sunny stared at the person coming down without blinking her eyes, and her heart skipped a beat. It was as if something had exploded in the bottom of
her heart.
