The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 62

Chapter 62

"Noelle, how could you speak to Mom like that?"

Before Matilda could say anything, Sandra had already rushed over, looking at Noelle with reddened eyes. "She genuinely cares about you. You can't misunderstand her like this!"

Noelle no longer wanted to be entangled with them. She only felt disgusted looking at them now. Without answering Sandra, she turned to leave.

"Noelle!"

Sandra wanted to chase after her, but Matilda stopped her and shouted at Noelle, "Fine! Noelle, once you walk out the door, don't even think about coming back. You can starve out there for all I care."

Hearing this, Noelle paused for a moment.

Matilda thought she had reconsidered her actions, but to her surprise, Noelle turned around and said, "Then, I thank you for that."

She was calm as ever, but this was seen as indifference to Matilda. It was like a venomous snake watching its prey while flicking its tongue ominously.

Matilda couldn't help but take two steps back, her face turning pale.

Sandra quickly reached out to steady her. "Mom, are you okay? Do you want to go to the hospital?" Matilda shook her head repeatedly, unable to say a word. She pushed Sandra's hand aside and stumbled forward on her own.

Sandra stood rooted to the spot, her worried expression quickly disappearing. Just then, her phone rang "I've done everything you asked. When will I get the money?" The man on the other end demanded rudely.

Sandra rolled her eyes and answered, "Don't worry. I'll transfer the money to you tomorrow. But remember, you've never seen me, and don't ever call me again. Got it?"

By the time Hendrix left the Swanson residence, it was nearing midnight. Levi was waiting outside and immediately opened the car door upon seeing him approach

To his surprise, Noelle was still in the car.

She was leaning against the car window with her eyes shut lowever, as soon as Hendrix entered, she instantly woke up and smoothed her messy hair.

Although she knew it couldn't hide her swollen cheek, she hoped that Hendrix, sitting on the other side, wouldn't be able to see it. She then straightened her posture and asked, "What did you talk about with Craig?"

"Business matters," Hendrix replied curtly, clearly not intending to elaborate.

Noelle found it amusing. It was almost midnight. Why would they discuss business at this time?

However, she chose not to expose his lie. Instead, she said, 'It was wrong of me to keep that secret from you earlier."

She turned toward him and added seriously, "You might not care, but I was wrong to hide it from you. I owe you an apology. I'm sorry

"But in our two years of marriage... aside from that one secret, I don't believe I've ever wronged you. As for the child... I resented you for a while, but it's in the past. Now, we're even.

"I don't know what you and Craig talked about, and it might not have anything to do with me. But since

you won't tell me, then it's between the two of you. Don't involve me in it any further.'

Noelle had already drafted this speech beforehand, so her words were calm and composed as she spoke

to Hendrix. Hendrix turned his head and fixed his gaze on her intently before suddenly asking, "Why did you want a divorce?"
