Chapter 434
Chapter 434
Hendrix threw a glance at Olivia and let out an indifferent "oh". Then, he walked past them and joined another group in conversation.
Nathan was unfazed. He casually poured himself a glass of wine and sat down beside Olivia.
"I honestly thought Hendrix would bring Noelle along with him. You probably haven't met her, have you?" he asked.
Olivia pressed her lips together briefly before answering, "Actually, I have met her before."
"Is that so?" Nathan raised an eyebrow in surprise. But then, he quickly remembered something. "Oh, right. You used to work at the hospital, so you must have seen her there. She's pregnant now, and Hendrix goes with her to almost every checkup.
"For someone with his status to be that attentive, it's honestly pretty impressive. You wouldn't believe what scumbags some guys in our circle are. They're not much to look at, nor do they have much money, but somehow, they've got a string of side chicks."
Olivia wasn't sure why Nathan was telling her all this, nor did she know how to answer him. So, she simply lowered her head and gave a muted "oh".
Nathan had been speaking enthusiastically with a smile, but when that half-hearted response landed, his expression dimmed.
"What's the matter with you? You don't seem interested in the topic at all."
"N-No, I—"
Before she could finish, Nathan had already slipped his arm around her waist. "Then, why the long face? Don't forget what I've got on you."
His words caused Olivia's pupils to narrow slightly and her hands to ball into fists. It took her a moment before she managed to force
smile at him.
"That smile looks worse than a cry." Nathan's gaze darkened. Then, he pressed a glass of wine into her hand." Give a toast to Hendrix."
Olivia stared at the glass of wine without moving or saying a word.
"What are you waiting for? Go now!" Nathan urged impatiently.
Biting her lip, Olivia finally took the glass and walked over to Hendrix.
"Excuse me, Mr. Freeman."
Hendrix had been speaking with the person beside him, but he paused and turned toward Olivia when he heard her calling him timidly.
With the glass in her hand, Olivia said in a quiet voice, "I-I'd like to toast you."
Hendrix frowned. He was planning to ignore her, but then he noticed Nathan had his gaze fixed on him from across the room. Not to mention, there were other people present.
Everyone knew he and Nathan didn't get along, but publicly giving something to talk about wasn't worth the trouble. So, in the end, Hendrix picked up his glass and clinked it lightly against Olivia's.
Olivia then quickly retreated to Nathan's side.

The atmosphere in the room remained lively. Or rather, it would be more accurate to say that everyone there revolved entirely around Hendrix.
Given Amity Group's impressive performance this year and Hendrix's series of high-profile business maneuvers, it wasn't surprising that he was the target of everyone's praises.
Meanwhile, Nathan sat lonely in his corner. Calling him "neglected" would be putting it kindly.
Olivia noticed the way his hand clenched around his glass, causing the veins on the back of his hand to bulge.
Not daring to stay any longer, she quickly found an excuse to leave the room.
Initially, she just wanted a moment of fresh air. But after standing outside for a short while, she realized Hendrix had also come out.
She froze for a moment before gathering her courage to approach him. "Mr. Freeman."
Hendrix was on the phone. He was speaking in rapid Edalanese. The words flew by so quickly that Olivia couldn't catch more than a few fragments.
