Chapter 360
Chapter 360
Nathan reacted quickly. The moment Hendrix began walking over, he released his grip on Noelle.
Having leaned her full weight against him just moments ago, Noelle stumbled again as Nathan suddenly withdrew his hands. But Hendrix didn't give her a chance to steady herself. He grabbed her firmly and pulled her back to his side.
"Hendrix, it's not what you think," Nathan said. "Elle got startled by the fountain just now. I was afraid she'd get wet, so I pulled her out of the way. Please don't misunderstand."
Hendrix didn't say anything. He simply stared at her, his gaze cold and unrelenting
Noelle had never seen him look so furious before-not even when he had confronted Dylan. But as she observed him, another thought quickly crossed her mind.
The man standing before her wasn't just anyone-it was Hendrix's half-brother, Nathan.
He was the same brother who had recently claimed a portion of his shares and joined Amity Group. So, what truly angered him must have been this.
Hendrix didn't respond to Nathan's explanation, He simply shot him a cold glance before pulling Noelle along and walking away. His strides were swift and forceful, and Noelle nearly stumbled several times as she struggled to keep up.
It wasn't just the three of them in the square earlier. Hendrix had likely just returned from somewhere, as a group of people had been following behind him. Even now, they trailed in silence.
But the moment Hendrix stepped into the elevator with Noelle, the group collectively stopped in their tracks. Thus, it was just the two of them inside the elevator.
Earlier, Noelle had refrained from arguing with him because of the people around. But the moment the elevator doors closed, she immediately shoved his hand off.
Hendrix tightened his grip in response, his expression still dark. "What were you talking to him about just now?"
Noelle, still wrestling against his hold, replied irritably, "What could I possibly be saying to him?"
"If you weren't saying anything, then why were you staring at him like that?"
The memory of the scene from moments ago reignited Hendrix's anger. Without thinking, he grasped her chin and asked, "What? Do you think he's good-looking?"
Noelle wasn't sure if his comment was meant as self-praise, considering how much Nathan resembled him. The only difference was that Nathan carried a hint of youthfulness and innocence. And it was precisely that quality that reminded Noelle of Hendrix from years ago.
On top of that, there was something familiar about the scent on Nathan, though she couldn't for the life of her recall where she'd encountered it before.
"Noelle!"
Her lack of response, paired with her distant, pensive gaze made Hendrix's expression darken even further.
Noelle finally snapped out of it and slapped his hand away. I didn't!"
Hendrix scoffed. "Should I pull up the square's surveillance footage to prove it?"
"And even if I did, so what? Am I not allowed to look at him?"

"No," Hendrix replied without hesitation.
Noelle frowned, but before she could respond, Hendrix continued, "Do you even know who he is? Why are you getting tangled up with him like that?"
Noelle had initially intended to explain herself, but after hearing his accusation, she couldn't help but let out at cold laugh. "And what exactly do you mean by that?"
"What did you say?" Hendrix asked.
"When have I ever been 'tangled up' with him? This is only the second time we've even met! What? Am I not allowed to have normal interactions with anyone else now? Tell me. Is this about your possessiveness toward me, or is it because that person is Nathan?
"What you're really upset about is that he's joined Amity Group and taken a piece of your shares, isn't it? So, what does that have to do with me? Why are you using me as an excuse to vent your frustration?" #25
