Chapter 354

When Noelle stepped out of the bathroom.drix was still on the balcony, speaking on the phone. His voice sounded calm, but he was talking quickly, so Noelle couldn't make out what he was saying. Not that she wanted to

anyway.

She went straight to the bedroom. Once there, she collapsed onto the bed and closed her eyes, replaying the events of the day in her mind.

Noelle knew that Erwin wasn't interested in her-not really What intrigued him was the version of her in Hendrix's mind.

Erwin believed that Hendrix was just like him. But as someone of the same kind, Erwin himself would never consider marriage, much less choose someone like Noelle. That was why he was so curious about Hendrix's decision.

His line of thinking was undoubtedly insane. What was even more insane, however, was that Noelle could actually understand his logic and reasoning. That was what truly unsettled her.

Sure enough, spending too much time around madmen had started to warp her own sense of normalcy. As these thoughts swirled in her mind, Hendrix returned.

Perhaps worried about waking her, he moved with deliberate quietness. Noelle didn't pay him any mind. It wasn't until he got into bed and moved closer, wrapping his arms around her from behind, that she reacted.

Feeling a surge of resistance, she was just about to push him away when Hendrix suddenly said, "I've ordered an investigation into Dylan's matter."

Noelle's movements froze in an instant. Then, she whipped around abruptly and asked, "What are you planning to do?"

Her guarded and piercing demeanor made Hendrix stunned for a moment.

But he quickly smiled nonchalantly and replied, "Didn't you say he doesn't seem like someone who would do such a thing? So, I decided to look into it. If he's really innocent. well, I wouldn't mind helping him out."

His sudden change in attitude only made Noelle even more wary. She frowned, her eyes fixed sharply on him.

Hendrix had already come to terms with it. After all, she was by his side now, so his original goal had been achieved. It was his own fault for being greedy-for stubbornly longing to bring back the Noelle who once had eyes only for him.

Hendrix had finally figured it out. He needed to treat her better, even if it meant helping Dylan. Whatever he did, Noelle would see it. And he knew exactly what kind of person she was-kindhearted to a fault. Which meant that no matter how much he gave, she would inevitably try to repay him in kind.

But even with that understanding, when faced with Noelle's distrustful gaze, Hendrix couldn't help but furrow his brows.

"You don't trust me?" he asked.

nelle didn't respond, but her silence was as good as confirmation of Hendrix's words.

A sudden urge of anger flared within him. He immediately let go of her and turned his back toward her. He'd

thought the night would pass just like that, but in the next moment, Noelle unexpectedly asked, "Why are you helping me?

Hendrix frowned. "I'm not helping you. I'm helping Dylan.

"If it weren't for me, would you care about him at all?"

"Of course not," Hendrix sneered coldly. "What is he to me? Just looking at him feels exhausting." "So..."

"But don't you dare lump yourself in with him," Hendrix said through gritted teeth. "He's him, and you're you. You're my wife now."

Noelle immediately shut up.

After a moment, she finally asked, "Fine. Then, why are you helping Dylan?"

"I never said I'd help him for sure. I'll only help him if it turns out he's truly innocent."
