The Sage of Masterminds ( Mr. Pierce )

Chapter 5

Chapter 5 It’s Clear at a Glance

There was nothing wrong with Linda’s body. Perhaps there was some other reason that was causing her to be sick. However, she would need more careful observation to find the reason behind it. “You have to finish all the medications I’ve prescribed, alright?” Linda, known for her stern manner, instantly became an obedient child in front of Christine. Seemingly recalling her question today, Christine blinked a few times before asking, “By the way, why did you say the Pierce Family owes me?” Linda wanted so badly to slap herself for being such a blabbermouth. She could not believe both of them would question her incessantly regarding this matter. At that moment, she was having a hard time explaining. Her face was filled with sorrow as she mumbled under her breath, “To be honest, your grandmother offended an expert by telling the fortunes of Sidney and the Pierce Family. As such, she has no choice but to retire. Therefore, our family will always be in your and your grandmother’s debt.” Christine pressed her lips together. An expert? Was there somebody Grandma couldn’t deal with? She blinked and asked curiously, “Then, do you know the name of that person?” Linda was rendered speechless at the moment, for she did not expect her to go that far. “I-I don’t know. You should rest. I don’t feel well at the moment. Maybe we’ll talk next time.” Feeling guilty, she quickly hid her face under the blankets. It was obvious that she did not wish to divulge further. Hence, there was no reason for Christine to pursue this matter. As such, she could only suppress the doubts in her heart and leave the woman to sleep. After returning to her room, she casually threw the satchel on her bed and flung herself upon the mattress. She decided to laze around. At least this is better than a hotel. Earlier on, she did a simple calculation in her mind. Hollander was a big city, and a night in a hotel here would cost nearly a hundred bucks. She took a look at her balance and felt it was not enough. In that instant, her eyes took on a dark, gloomy expression. It seemed she would have to earn more money, so she opened a private group chat on her phone named $Cha-Ching$. Then, she came online and wrote, ‘How’s everybody’s income recently?’ Ava replied, ‘Finally, you’re online, Christine! It’s time to settle this month’s salary. Everybody in the Matrix is waiting for you.’ Christine raised her eyebrows. She did, in actuality, establish a hacker organization. All the employees were under her command. Frankly, the person she hired to be her main force was Ava, the top hacker in the world, who incidentally turned out to be her best friend. She touched the screen with her slender fingers and replied, ‘Ok! Send me your account number by tonight.’ Larry replied, ‘How’s life in the city, boss? Is the Pierce Residence huge?’ attached with an admiring sticker. Christine replied, ‘I don’t think the geomancy here is good.’ He replied, ‘Wot?! The Pierce Family is one of the top families around. They must’ve placed great importance on geomancy. Besides, they’d employed quite a number of famous geomancy masters around when they were building it. I don’t see why they would make an error.’ Ava replied, ‘I’m not sure about this, but how could they be better than Patricia’s granddaughter? Isn’t that right, Chris?’ Larry wrote, ‘It stands to reason that even the worst geomancy masters won’t screw this up. It’s just a question of how much luck they could change. Did the Pierce Family offend somebody?’ Before Christine could reply, she heard a knocking sound. She wrote, ‘I have some business to attend to. So, I’m signing off. Good night.’ She turned off her phone and opened the door, where a tall man stood upright outside, holding a bag. The moment he saw her cold yet pretty face, he narrowed his eyes and lowered his head slightly to meet her gaze. “It’s late now. How can I help you?” “Your pajamas.” Sidney’s voice was slightly hoarse, betraying a slight hint of impatience. “See if it fits. I merely did a rough estimation. I’m sure you won’t be able to fit into a bigger size.” Her almond-shaped eyes widened as she glared at him angrily. “What would you know?” “It’s clear at a glance. Seriously, you can’t even compare to mine.” There was a hint of mockery in his cold voice. She could not help but sneak a glance at his slightly exposed chest, her pretty face flushing with frustration and embarrassment. After receiving the pajamas from him, she slammed the door on him without a moment of hesitation. Sidney took in a mouthful of dust. At that moment, there was rage in his unfathomable eyes. She had indeed caught his attention! Inside her room, Christine admired her body while she changed her clothes. My body isn’t as bad as what that man says. After calming down, she lay on the fluffy pillows and drifted off tiredly into a deep slumber. … The next day inside the Pierce Residence. It was almost afternoon when Christine opened her eyes sleepily. She stretched lazily and went downstairs to eat after washing up. Suddenly, a woman’s surprised voice rang, an unfriendly tone at that. “Are you Christine Morgan?” Christine rubbed her eyes and saw a girl in a high school uniform sitting in the living room. Her face looked somewhat similar to Sidney’s. Howard smiled politely and introduced her. “Miss Morgan, this is Mr. Pierce’s cousin, Miss Yanice. She just returned home this morning for the weekend.” Christine nodded and greeted her before she went to the dining table and sat down. Meanwhile, Yanice raised her eyebrows and sized her up. She had heard about Christine at school. Rumor had it that her cousin’s fiancée was a country bumpkin. As such, she had conjured up the imagery of a filthy village girl with old-fashioned braids in her head. However, the young woman before her was tall and slender, looking no older than eighteen. She was fair-skinned and pretty, with thick eyelashes and a pair of amber eyes on her petite face. At the moment, she exuded a lazy aura. It was a far cry from the country bumpkin she had in her mind! “You’re shameless!” said Yanice as she crossed her arms in front of her with a cold expression.
