Chapter 14
hapter 14 She Can’t Afford It!
As Christine pondered the situation, she gently traced the lines on his palm, flipping it back and forth in contemplation. Just by looking at this action, anyone unaware would think she was teasing the man.
“Are you comparing sizes?” Sidney spoke harshly while furrowing his thick eyebrows, leaving her speechless.
Ryan felt a lump in his throat from watching both of them. That’s like unlocking a new posture. Are they in love?
On the contrary, Linda felt immense joy and excitement as she watched their intimate gestures from a distance. She asked the butler, “Howard, did you see that? T–They’re holding hands!”
“I’m seeing it, Old Mrs. Pierce,” he answered.
“I told you she matches Sidney perfectly. They are a talented and beautiful couple, destined for each other.” Her eyes gleamed with excitement as she rubbed her palms together. “I hope they give it their all so I can hold my great–grandchild by the end of the year.” Tonight, I will dream a little more. Some things, when anticipated, tend to come true!
“Hey, what’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?” At that moment, Sidney’s thin lips moved, his gaze fixed on her face as she squatted by his trousers.
Her eyelashes curled and cast a row of dense shadows. Those eyes seemed to have been immersed in the dark sea and cleansed afterward, which held many stories of his past.
“Or are you still writing up your script?” he taunted.
“Your energy in love is draining you. It means you’re about to encounter people and relationships that don’t serve your highest good. In other words, an unhappy love affair. Be aware of who you allow into your space. They might be here for your chastity.” Christine held a serious expression. “So, watch out.”
Sidney’s lips twitched. That’s accurate. Isn’t her very existence my unhappy love affair? His cold gaze swept over sharply. “Is that all?”
She frowned. “Yes, that’s all.” His destiny feels unbending, causing me to sense an invisible weight even with the slightest touch. Eventually, I can only foresee an unhappy love affair.
“Miss Morgan, you’re quite interesting.” He withdrew his palm. Then, he took a napkin and meticulously wiped each finger, displaying his clean freak side.
Watching his actions, it seemed as though she had been dirtying him earlier. She ignored the gesture and spread out her small palm before extending it in front of him. “What payment method do you prefer?” A man can be killed and insulted, but money should never be abandoned!
He lifted his handsome face while raising his eyes and pursing his thin lips. “Venmo.”
The phone emitted a sound indicating the receipt of money, chiming with the amount of ten thousand. Christine stared at the balance in her account, after which she carefully and meticulously counted with her eyes. Later, she smiled and said, “Received with thanks.” She looked up and gave a thumbs–up toward him, radiating her uncontrollable joy.

The man watched this scene, tinting his heart with disdain. An eighteen–year–old girl who always pats money first in everything I should’ve made Ryan check if she has any debts online.
Danger glinted in his phoenix–like eyes as he squinted. I need to find a way to make her leave our family. As for my supposed fate of not living past twenty–six? I don’t believe it, and besides, aren’t I perfectly fine now?
The girl shifted her gaze and saw Sidney about to get up from the couch to leave, so she took out a yellow charm from her bag. “This is for you.”
He casually glanced at it with his thin lips that curled with a touch of scorn. “No need. The deal we just made was enough for me.” His gaze was cold, and his proud face turned to the side and exuded an inherent nobility. He stepped forward as his crimson lips approached her ear with a hint of danger. “Grandma may like you, but I have the final say in the Pierce Family. No one can protect you if you dare to deceive or defraud again.”
She resumed her usual laziness. This is a gift included within the ten thousand. Please carry it with you for safety and to ward off bad relationships. It can protect you from disasters. I offer a money–back guarantee if it doesn’t work. Once I receive your money, I’m responsible for the after–sales service.”
He became speechless. I’ve clarified myself, but she stubbornly insists on taking it herself. “Sidney, just accept it!” Linda walked over with a smile. “I saw everything just now. Don’t doubt Chris‘ words. They’re all one hundred percent true.”
She believed in Christine, acting like her loyal fan and offering unwavering support.
Sidney cast a cold glance, not wanting to provoke Linda’s anger, and pursed his lips as he accepted the item. Immediately afterward, using the excuse of a company meeting, he swiftly left the Pierce Residence, unwilling to stay for any second.
In Pierce Corporation’s highest–level of conference room.
Sidney was dressed in an exquisite black suit. He crossed his legs as he leaned slightly forward, resting his chin on his fist and lost in thought. A pale–yellow charm paper was placed on the keyboard of the gold–embossed ultra–thin notebook, giving it a slightly worn–out feeling.
He raised an eyebrow, which added a touch of mischief. Is this charm really that powerful?
“Mr. Pierce, you’ve been staring at the yellow charm Miss Morgan gave you for half an hour…” Ryan held an iPad and used a stylus to mark the schedule. He was a little worried about his boss when looking at the pile of documents next to him. It seemed like he was enchanted.
Sidney’s expression remained indifferent as he snapped back to reality. He lazily flipped through the documents. You mentioned earlier about the fashion exhibition showcasing the clothing line of Designer DG from the Wimbles Brand, right?” His well–defined fingers held a vintage fountain pen. He signed his strong and fluid Brunellian handwriting, which exuded a sense of grandeur.
“Yes, it’s rumored that DG herself may attend the awards ceremony this time.” Ryan stood with his hands behind his back.
DG was an incredibly mysterious designer whose debut sensation caused a windstorm in Hugag a few years ago. As a result, every subsequent design that she released won awards. Her works might have kickstarted the fashion trends in the industry, but she had never once appeared on stage to receive awards, so no one knew what she looked like.

Pierce Corporation had always wanted to collaborate with this exceptionally talented designer.
Sidney’s eyes twinkled with amusement. “Go.” I am curious to see the true face of this enigmatic person.
