Chapter 11 The Style of DG
“Do you really not want to?” the middle–aged man asked with a tinge of regret, hoping to persuade the girl before him.
Christine shook her head. “I’m sorry, but I won’t attend. I don’t enjoy being in the limelight, even when it comes to my award. Having it mailed to me is preferable.”
“That’s such a pity because your fashion exhibition involves collaborations with over a hundred top companies and invited renowned Victoria’s Secret models from around the world to showcase it. Everyone put a lot of effort into it, and it was finally ready to be held officially. If you don’t come and see it in person…” Before he finished speaking, George Champneys smiled again and said, “Of course, not personally accepting the award is the DG way. I understand!”
Her gaze turned serious. “I won’t make a public appearance. As for participating… Let me think about it.”
Suddenly, the middle–aged man’s expression went from disappointment to a glimmer of hope. He understood what she meant. Then, he handed her his formal business card. “Alright, I’ll wait for your good news then. I won’t disturb you any longer.”
“Okay.” After saying goodbye, Christine prepared to stroll around the mall and turned around to see Yanice.
“We know about your secret rendezvous just now!” Yanice crossed her arms, her posture arrogant. “Christine, you’re so lucky. Not only did you meet Sidney, but you’re also two–timing and fooling around. Is that fair to him?”
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about. I don’t love Sidney, and I come to the Pierce Family because of my family obligations. Rest assured that I will never marry him.” Christine walked past them.
“Hah. Was that your sugar daddy?” Yanice grabbed her wrist, acting as if catching an adulterer.
Christine’s eyes lazily glanced over, and she turned her head calmly. “I wonder if Madam Pierce would slap you if she heard what you said.”
Yanice was speechless, puffing her cheeks. When she saw the logo of the Wimbels Brand, her eyes lit up. With her hands on her hip, she looked proud. “Christine, do you know where this is?”
Christine raised an eyebrow, giving a sidelong glance. “Isn’t it just a clothing store?”
“Hah! You really are ignorant.” Yanice’s confidence soared. “Do you know how expensive this brand is? Can a country girl like you afford it?”
Christine smiled faintly. Indeed, she could not afford it because she did not need to buy it.
Melissa immediately understood and pulled Yanice’s arm, cooperating, “Yanice, don’t speak to Miss Morgan like that. It will hurt her self–esteem.”
“Being poor is not something to be ashamed of. People do what suits them based on their circumstances. Buying from a street vendor is just as good if you’re poor. It’s seriously okay to be poor!

I’m just afraid someone who can’t afford it still has vanity. Oh, by the way, the money you earned from fortune–telling is not enough to even buy a belt from here!” Yanice intentionally used hurtful words to strike at Christine, wanting to poke her in her sore spot.
Melissa smirked and looked at Christine’s reaction, waiting for her embarrassment
What are you arguing about?” At that moment, a short–haired, round–faced store clerk came out of the Wirbels Brand.
Christine glanced at the young clerk, who was cute and somewhat naive–looking, seemingly a college student working part–time.
“This is the entrance of the store. Your argument here will affect other customers and our brand’s image.”
“What’s it to you?” Yanice sneered, glanced at the other person, and suddenly thought of something. “You want good sales performance, don’t you? Don’t worry. I’ll buy ten items from Wimbels Brand today. Please don’t interfere now. Thank you. And don’t expect this country girl here. She can’t even afford a single piece of clothing,” she added with a playful smile, and more and more people gathered
to watch.
The young staff, concerned about the impact, glanced at Christine and felt some sympathy.
However, Christine remained indifferent. “Some live in tall buildings, some in deep valleys. Some radiate with brilliance, while some are pure rust. But all of these… cannot compare to the poverty of the soul!” She cast her gaze, capable of penetrating souls, onto Yanice and said, “You are the one with a spiritually impoverished soul.”
The admiring eyes of the store employee fell upon Christine, and they said, “I didn’t expect you to remember the words of our designer at the Wimbels Brand.”
Christine smiled with narrowed eyes. The slogan she casually mentioned became hung in various stores of the Wimbels Brand.
Yanice’s chest heaved with anger. “Who are you indirectly insulting with the term ‘spiritually impoverished?” She glared at the store employee and demanded, “Are you joining her in insulting us? Where is your manager? Call your manager out!”
“Yanice, are you done? Don’t push me to give you a beating!” Christine’s eyelids narrowed, displaying a lazy aggressiveness as she approached.
“I dare you.”
“What makes you think I won’t?” Christine clenched her fist and twisted her neck.
The manager of the Wimbels Brand clothing store heard the commotion and walked out. Initially, he wore an expression of anger, but upon seeing Yanice, he instantly transformed into an obsequious dog and approached her. “Miss Yanice, you came without saying a word. We were prepared to entertain you. You are our super VIP in the entire shopping mall…”
“Mr. Xavier, long time no see.” Melissa spoke with a suggestive tone, “You know who caused the disturbance. Someone even wanted to resort to violence just now.”

His eyes lit up. “Oh, Miss Lange, this is the Pierce Mail. Whoever dares to lay hands on anyone will be handed to the authorities!”
Hmph. That’s more like it.”
He lowered his head, rubbing his hands and smiling. “Our staff was out of line and unintentionally offended you. I will compensate you.”
At that, Yanice arrogantly pointed and said, “Good. Then, fire this employee!”
