To say Killian has been amazing has been an understatement! He found the perfect little cottage building plans for us and had them built on the royal territory. I have the cutest little canning area and have a garden out back. Every day our grandson Conner comes and visits us, and loves to help me in the garden. We pick everything that is ready for harvest and get it packed in the pantry. Cora usually raids my pantry for food for Conner so he has all natural stuff to eat.
That’s fine with me just as long as she leaves us enough to last through the winter. She can always have the overage. Killian still helps out with the training and when it’s jelly day he hangs around being the official taste tester. It doesn’t last long because soon we have the guards that are working nearby coming to taste test also. I just laugh because I’ll look over and see eyes looking in through the windows. I finally decided to just set a plate in the window with samples.
Now the guard duty to sign up for is the one outside the royal cottage. Apparently it comes with perks now so the waitlist to get a shift is a while. Today has been no exception. I woke up early, and have been prepping all morning. I just started on the canning part and there is already a crowd walking by to peek in. I holler out to them that it will be about five to ten minutes the jellies just went in to bathe. You would have thought I told them they each got a puppy. Like little kids in a candy store. They all got excited to see what kinds are going to come out today.
There’s strawberry, cranberry-orange, blackberry, and raspberry. The moment the jars start going all the smells start spreading through the cottage. It smells amazing and the guards must have been watching a clock because as soon as the bell dings I see eyes all looking in through the windows patiently waiting. Before I have a chance to do anything the front door bursts open with Killian running in. He sits down at the table patiently waiting for his samples.
I get his samples down and plates of them ready for the guards. I open up the window that Killian outfitted with a table to set everything on, and within seconds they are all gone. I place up the next plates and soon those are dwindling down also. I leave them there when I look to see Killian reaction and he is trying to eat a jar straight but it’s burning his tongue. I place my hands on my hips when he just looks at me with jelly on his face.
“Killian! What are you doing! They just came out and are hot!”
“I hadn’t noticed!”
I just watch him take a swipe of the jelly and then down ice water. Yeah, I hadn’t noticed. I clean up my mess and start laying out everything for the next project. Pickles! Killian just smiled sitting in his chair patiently waiting. Little does he know it takes a while. This is how I always wanted my life to be. Just a simple alpha mate that just had a little homestead with a pack to call our own. Even though the pack isn’t ours anymore we have lots of fun just watching from the sidelines.
Rikar took his siblings and made them his personal advisors. They may not be blood but that’s all he has. I still think about the twins that I lost and still have my moments. When that happens Killian just holds me, and lets me cry it out. I know deep down he would have never intentionally done it, and if he would have known he wouldn’t have continued. Except what’s done is done. We can’t go back and change it. All we can do is move forward from this point on. We did find out that Cora is pregnant again so Killian will be expanding my garden to plant more plants.
I will have two grandbabies to make food for. Cora helps out as much as she can, but most times she falls asleep on the couch while Conner helps. We let her sleep but the smell of food usually wakes her back up. We just laugh because she stumbles into the kitchen to sit and patiently looks around for the food. She’s here almost all day every day. Rikar knows if she isn’t in the palace she’s here eating.
