Chapter 68
Chapter 68 Where Did She Go?
Kieran felt extremely ashamed!
He lowered his head in front of Shane and dared not look up at him.
“So, what question did you want to ask?”
“I...”
Kieran couldn’t speak.
He only felt that the air around him had become thick and difficult to breathe.
He was embarrassed to say that Valerie had run away from home because of their family relationship.
After a moment of contemplation, he still chose to remain silent.
“Nothing much, just wanted to maintain contact so that if there are any issues in the future, I can reach out to the homeroom
teacher for immediate assistance.”
In the end, Kieran never said that Valerie ran away from home because of her family situation.
Shane waited for Kieran to tell the truth, but when he saw the conflicted and confused expression on Kieran’s face, Shane
sighed disappointedly.
“I’ll pass it to you, and you can add it later when you go back. Alright, you can go back and get busy now.”
For Kieran, Shane’s words were a godsend. He immediately stood up, bid farewell to Shane, and promptly left the office.
Shane watched as Kieran left, and he took out his phone to find Valerie’s new homeroom teacher. He made a phone call.
“Lauren.”
“Hey, Principal, what’s up?”
“Did Valerie from your class come to class today?”
In the classroom, Lauren, who used to read early, quickly glanced at the attendance register.
“No, Principal, what’s wrong?”
Shane’s brow furrowed slightly.
“It’s nothing. Her parents will contact you later and may ask you the same questions. Don’t mention that I asked you.”
Lauren suddenly understood and nodded in agreement.
Kieran returned to the car, his face looking very unpleasant.
“Returned to the company.”
“Yes, Mr. Kieran.”
The driver dared not speak too loudly, and the car moved forward slowly.
Sitting in the back seat, Kieran held his phone and started contacting his friends from his list, hoping they could help him find
Valerie.
“Huh? What happened to your sister? She’s missing? Don’t worry, bro, I will definitely help you find her!”
This is a message from one of our friends.
But when Kieran saw it, he felt a wave of guilt in his heart...
He didn’t seem as anxious as his friend had said.
He turned his head and looked at the seat where Valerie had been sitting before.
The little girl reached out her hand, wanting to touch the sky.
His eyes were filled with longing for the outside world.
That was freedom.
Was the Horton family tiring for her to stay with?
The more he thought, the more Kieran’s head became muddled, and his heart grew increasingly anxious and heavy.
He vigorously rubbed his sore and swollen eyes.
Now, at home, only he should be looking for Valerie, and he is not sure why he cares so much.
Suddenly burst into laughter.
Kieran, oh Kieran, you also had today.
People even sneakily look for others.
He suddenly felt an indescribable chill and sadness.
Valerie, where were you now...
Valerie, who was being thought of by Kieran, lay drowsily in bed.
The fragmented images in her mind prevented her from opening her eyes.
My head was so heavy that I couldn’t move at all.
Before leaving home, the Horton family’s chaotic story and scenes were a bit annoying to her.
It was too noisy.
She struggled to keep herself awake, exerting all her strength to quickly snap out of these noisy memories.
“Um...”
Ouch, my throat hurt.
Valerie slowly opened her eyes, everything appeared blurry and magnified.
What?
Where? Where is this?
Valerie felt a chill run down her spine as she vividly remembered being in a park before falling asleep.
So now, in this unfamiliar environment, someone saw themselves and brought themselves back.
But it shouldn’t be, I am usually very cautious, as if someone is indeed approaching me.
He looked a lot like Tucker.
Tucker?
Valerie’s heart was still a little flustered, but it calmed down slightly.
“Hey! Honey! She woke up!”
Ramona was excited, but she spoke in a hushed tone, afraid of waking up the sleeping Lamar.
Lamar waited at the door and heard his wife calling him. He hurried
forward and gently looked at Valerie on the bed. Both of them crouched in front of the bed.
I watched the little girl wake up slowly.
“Where did our dad go?”
“I don’t know, after I finished speaking just now, I went out.”
Ramona once again approached Valerie, placing her soft, slightly cold hand on Valerie’s forehead.
“Is it a little better now, little girl? It was a bit hot.”
Ramona worriedly touched Valerie’s burning little face, and Lamar, unwilling to be left out, came to the other side of the bed and
gently brushed Valerie’s face with the back of his hand.
“Well, it was indeed still very hot.”
Valerie felt the gentle greetings from the two people, and her initial alertness and worry gradually eased. She slowly opened her
eyes wider, wanting to see clearly who these two people were.
“Thank you, thank you...”
The hoarse voice made Valerie’s throat itch, and she couldn’t stand it anymore. Valerie coughed loudly.
“Cough cough cough... cough cough.”
“Ouch!!! Drink water, drink water! Honey, pour some water! Warm water!”
“Good!”
The two of them cooperated skillfully.
Just like when Tucker was sick as a child, they never left his bedside, taking care of him every step of the way.
In Ramona’s eyes, worry had already filled deeply.
“Good morning, Uncle Lamar and Auntie Ramona.”
Suddenly, Derek greeted earnestly at the door.
The two of them looked toward the door in unison, with Galen standing behind Derek.
“Dad? Why did you call Derek over?”
“She was Derek’s classmate.”
Valerie, who had gradually regained consciousness in bed, knew whose home it was.
This was Derek’s hometown!
She quickly got up and wanted to thank them.
“Well, um...”
As Valerie spoke up, Derek, standing at the door, furrowed his brow.
He suddenly approached, and Ramona unconsciously gave up her seat to him.
Derek looked at Valerie lying on the bed, her face flushed. He
remembered yesterday’s livestream, where she was by Wilma’s side, with those sparkling eyes.
He remained silent and supported Valerie’s shoulder, making her lie down again.
“You had a cold now, take good rest.”
“However...”
“Take a good rest and don’t worry about going to school. I will attend classes diligently. Once you feel better, I will make up the
lessons for you.”
Lamar and Galen widened their eyes, staring blankly at the little grandson/nephew in front of them.
So considerate?
Derek clumsily made Valerie’s bed.
He glanced at the water cup on the bedside table and reached out to touch the cup’s wall.
It got a little cold.
“Auntie Ramona, please boil another pot of hot water for her later. I’m going to school now.”
After speaking, he glanced at Valerie again and turned around to leave the room.
Galen and Lamar exchanged a glance, and he followed behind Derek.
“Did you have a good relationship with Ms. Horton?”
“So-so.”
Chair Where
Just so–so? Is this how you took care of it?
Derek entered the car and turned to look at Galen.
“Grandpa, take good care of her.”
