Chapter 80

A deep, low grunt came out of his throat as he stood up from the dark chair, circling me as I knelt in front of him. He didn’t show it, but he was furious. He was a man who was so used to showing no emotion.

The room was dimly lit and his face was obscured by the darkness, but from his designer, tailored suit, today must be a special day for him.

I averted my gaze, swallowing the painful lump in my throat, I had come bearing yet another bad news and I knew how bad his temper was and hoped that he wouldn’t transform into his wolf form and bite me again. The mark from the last bite was just healing.

“Look at me, “his baritone voice, low and measured, carried an air of authority and sophistication.

I slowly raised my head and looked at him, making sure I averted my gaze. I couldn’t dare look at him after another failure.

“You fool!” he growled as he pushed my face, almost making him fall.

I knew not to show even a moment of weakness as that would enrage him further.I

quickly regained my composure as I watched him go back to his seat.

“I am disappointed in you,” he continued as he shoved his silver walking stick forward, hitting My right arm, the exact spot which was bitten the last time I was here.

I was in pain and wanted to shout out loud, but I knew better than that and instead said nothing and showed no expression. I wanted to tell him that it was Rielle and I was stu pid to have allowed her to get involved in all of these.

“off

“How hard could it have been to look after a frail old woman and a little boy!” He yelled and the room reverberated with his voice.

I didn’t know any man I feared more than this, he was ruthless and hated mistakes. He wanted everything to be perfect.

Everything was going well until Rielle got actively involved. She was doing an event better job than I was at first, after a while it seemed as if she wasn’t invested in the plan anymore and wanted to just humiliate Amara. The foolish guards she had

stationed to look after the crone and Amara’s son, how they were overpowered, I still don’t know.

“Weak!, stu pid!,pathetic!. Such a shame,” He continued and I hung his head, thoroughly ashamed of myself. I wanted to give excuses but I knew that the one thing that would not be tolerated was excuses.

First, it was Amara being in Silverpine, then Norman, then now the crone. I wondered if Norman was responsible for that. Perhaps he came to free his mother.

I didn’t say anything, not because I couldn’t, it was just that I didn’t want to. I didn’t know what to say and I didn’t want to be humiliated any further.

He shook his head, and even from the darkness, I could see the expression on his face, clenched jaw, furrowed eyebrows, and pursed lips.

“I am highly disappointed in you!” he spat out. “Shame on you!!”

די

He kept yelling and poking Me with his walking stick. The walking stick was a symbol of his title. I remembered nine years ago when he had approached me with an offer to make me the Alpha. I was shocked as the offer sounded too good to be true, but I knew that he was that powerful, he had the power to make me that.

I wouldn’t have accepted it if I wasn’t living in Lucien’s shadow and unappreciated. The hardest part of the betrayal was giving myself the reasons for doing that.

“You think if I had been as weak as you are I’d have been alive? Let me tell you! I’d have been dead a long time ago! You have no idea how many people want me dead! you stu pid fool!” he lamented.

“I never told you to bring her in! but you did! now she’s going to ruin everything!”

“At least tell me that there is some kind of hope! that this mission isn’t entirely botched!” he growled.

“No,” My head was still hung in shame and I smiled slowly.

When I first thought about it,it sounded stu pid. I had thought it to be too much, but right now, I was glad I did that.

“No, what! What is it!” the man snapped!,from his voice, it seemed he was curious to hear what I had to say.

“She won’t be able to speak-”

“I told you the curse you did for the others would not work for her!, I told you!” He screamed and I shook my head.

“Not a curse, something physical. I had her tongue cut out, “I revealed and the man was silent for a while, before bursting out into laughter with his rich voice.

I was scared at first, thinking that he didn’t believe me and was only lying to save my skin. I raised my head and saw the look of uncertainty in his eyes.

“I swear, I even have a photo!,” I quickly informed, shoving my hands deep into my pocket to fish for my phone.

Cutting off her tongue was gruesome and I couldn’t watch. I was shown the severed tongue and nearly threw up.

He beckoned to me to stand up. “Come,” he said, motioning with his hand, for Me to come closer.

I shuffled my feet forward, finally stopping right in front of him and bending my head as I handed the phone over to him. There was a photo of her, so I forced her mouth open to take the picture at that time.

A deep, dark chuckle reverberated around the room.

“This is good! You aren’t as useless as I thought,” he said after a while as he stopped laughing.

“You said you found her in the house?” His voice boomed and Roberto nodded.

“Thank you,” I said with a slight nod.

“Any news about Norman and the Müllers?” He questioned and I cleared my throat.

“I think I know where they are. And Lucien seems to be confused, so he arrested his sister.”

His head shot up. “He did that?, huh!, Rielle’s doing?”

I nodded

“Yes sir.”

He stood up, and walked straight to me,facing me squarely and I bowed my head, intimidated by him, like always.

“Look at me!” He barked and I slowly raised my head.

“No mistakes!”

I nodded, “No mistakes,” wondering what he wanted me to do this time.

“Find the Müller girl, break her out of prison if you have to,afterall, your sister is in there.”
