Chapter 74
Chapter 74
“You can’t or you won’t?” Giselle demanded even before I could say anything.
“Both.”
“Why?,” I questioned with furrowed brows. “Because she’s a traitor?”
“Not really. I’m not stu pid to not know the truth, he stated, and that piqued my interest.
“You know?” Giselle asked and I stood up, suddenly itching for a drink.
“Where are you going?” Giselle questioned as I stood up to go get a drink.
I halted in my tracks and spun around. “To get a drink.”
Rolan smiled. “Good! And what the hell are those two up to?”
I shrugged, suddenly curious to know what Eve and Norman were doing since I left them in the kitchen.
I sauntered to the kitchen and knocked before entering.
“Everything okay in here?” I questioned as I saw an unrecognizable expression on Eve’s face.
Norman was standing while she was seated on a chair. They were having a drink but the atmosphere was tense.
“Yes,” Norman replied quickly and it felt like he wanted me to leave immediately.
“Sure?,” I asked, peering into Eve’s face.
“I’m fine! what do you need?” she questioned.
I didn’t want to leave her as I had a gut feeling that there was something terribly
wrong.
“Can I have a word with you?” I faced her.
“What is it?”
“In private,” I replied, glancing at Norman, hinting for him to leave.
“Norman, can you please excuse us,” I said to him as he didn’t seem like he wanted to leave.

He muttered a string of curses as he walked away.

“Eve, are you okay?” I questioned with furrowed brows as I wondered what exactly was going on between She and Norman.
“Yes. Why?”
“You don’t look good,” I pointed out. “Is Norman hurting you in any way?”
She glanced at me sharply. “What do you mean by that?”
“I don’t know, He looks like a different person, not the man you introduced to me the other day and certainly not the young boy I know and when I came in here, you had that look on your face,” I breathed out.
I grabbed the bottle from the table and took a swig as she spoke.
“First of all, I don’t have any look on my face and secondly, Norman isn’t hurting me, why would you even think that? And if you’ve gone through what he has, you won’t say all these.”
“I-
Suddenly the door barged open and we spun around to find Giselle and Rolan.
“Okay, there must be something seriously going on in this kitchen. How come everyone who comes here suddenly doesn’t want to come out,” he said as he smiled at Eve.
“Or is Eve here the source of that problem?” He smirked at her, earning a glare.
I had totally forgotten that I was supposed to take a drink to them.
“I’m sorry,” I smiled softly. “You know I’ve not had a real conversation with my sister since I arrived here ” I admitted and Giselle nodded.
“Have fun,” she said as she grabbed two bottles of beer from the refrigerator.
I watched them walk away and turned back to Eve.
“Do you remember Selene?”
She scrunched her brows. “Selene?–which Selene?”
I nodded. “The Selene you know, of Silverpine”
“Deforte,” she said slowly and I nodded.

“What about her?”
“I need to find her,” I said firmly.
She narrowed her eyes at me as she dropped the glass she was holding.
“I know I know! but Giselle told me everything that happened to her and I think it was Rielle’s doing. I know it was her doing!,” I stated and she shook her head.
“Nobody has heard from her in a long time,” she pointed out and I smiled.
“It only means that she’s hidden herself pretty well. Which should tell us that she might be plotting something.”
“So, what?” Eve asked, her eyebrows still furrowed and I sighed, wondering how the smart Eve couldn’t figure out what I was getting to.
“So!, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and if it’s a great enemy with lots of resources at her disposal, all the best,” I pointed out and she sighed.
“You mean to join forces with her as she has her husband’s army at her disposal—” I nodded slowly as she spoke out my plan.
“It’s a crazy plan,” she finally said.
“No, it’s not! I mean it’s killing two birds with one stone.”
“No!, it’s not!it’s jeopardizing the life of everyone at Silverpine!” She almost yelled. “What are you even talking about!”
“No!, you haven’t seen it from my perspective,” I flung my hands.
“Oh yes,
I have. You think they’ll help you defeat the blood creek and Rielle and then hand you your child,” she scoffed.
“Let me tell you what will happen. They will wage war on Silverpine, Rielle will be killed as well as all her supporters in the community, they’ll kill Rick and Kai and everyone or they’ll have mercy on you and make
you and your children sla ves.”
“That’s not all, you can kiss goodbye to the pretty life you have as you’d even be better off dead. The people of the Lupine pack are beasts. They do not forgive nor forget and you know how our history goes with them,” she finished and grabbed the bottle from my arm and took a swig.
She was right, the Lupine pack was known To be vicious beasts that never forgave. We’ve been at loggerheads with them for almost twenty years now.

“But we could speak to Selene, she was once a member of Silverpine-”
“No!,” she said firmly. “No, and No. you’re not going to do that!”
“I don’t know what you’re so scared of, but, I’m going to do this, with or without your support,” I shot back and she glared at me for a while.

“Who even told you all that-about Rielle being responsible for what happened to Selene?”
I inhaled deeply as my gaze met hers. “Giselle.”
“You know I don’t trust that woman and her brother,” she said through gritted teeth.
“Why?”
My breath hitched in my throat as I spun around. I wasn’t expecting to see her there.
