The Reckoning of Love Chapter 13

Chapter 13 Married a Domineering CEO

“I’ve seen the information, and oh, let me tell you, that man can give Adonis a run for his money! I might even fall in love with going to work!” “But this sudden early entry, though… Word is that the company is going through a big change, and there will be significant personnel reshuffling.” “I heard that too. And there might even be layoffs.” “Tell me about it. I’m beginning to see many new faces in the company.” Celeste quickly grasped a vague idea of what was up—the new CEO of Greatrep Group had taken office in advance. However, she had some doubts about the capabilities of this new CEO. Becoming the president of a conglomerate at 23? That must require exceptional work abilities. What was more, Greatrep Group was a leading enterprise in Rotterwand that not only enjoyed a worldwide reputation but also held a pivotal position in the entire financial industry. Just then, someone cried out excitedly, “The car has stopped! The new CEO has arrived!” At that, everyone turned their gaze toward the entrance, and even Celeste, who was hiding in the crowd, raised her eyes. After all, everyone had a gossipy side. In the backlight, a tall and handsome figure emerged, resembling a divine being. He was surrounded by a dozen company executives, passing through the grand glass doors and walking toward the lobby. The magnificent lobby fell silent instantly. Everyone made sure to straighten their already impeccably neat attire and stood deferentially. The new CEO appeared young, but his face wasn’t clearly visible against the backlight. He walked calmly and unhurriedly, exuding an aura of steadfast and unshakable momentum as if accustomed to grand occasions. By his side was a young woman in a dark blue high-end professional suit. Her legs were fair and straight under a matching skirt that hugged her hips. She walked with grace, wearing high heels. As these individuals approached, Celeste finally caught a glimpse of the man’s face. She widened her eyes and exclaimed in disbelief, “Julian Meister?!” Her voice was not particularly loud, but in the solemn atmosphere of the lobby, where one could hear a pin drop, her voice became particularly abrupt. The man with his hands in his pockets halted his steps, causing everyone present to tense up! Similarly, the young woman next to him locked her sharp gaze onto Celeste, who was in the crowd, and the former’s gaze conveyed a message—she wanted to skin Celeste alive. As the CEO and his entourage came to a halt, everyone on either side who had been waiting respectfully didn’t even dare to breathe. And even though Celeste hid in the crowd, her vibrant dress still made her stand out. Julian glanced to the side, his gaze locking onto her. Their eyes met, and Celeste’s mind went blank. It really is him! Nothingness enveloped the man’s face. However, his deep eyes, which resembled ancient galaxies, gradually emanated a sense of detachment, as if he didn’t recognize her. Celeste was stupefied, frozen in place, unsure of what to say. Just then, Julian withdrew his gaze and walked toward the elevator. He didn’t criticize anyone. It was as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, frost glazed over the eyes of the young woman by his side, his secretary, Ella Walker. The executives behind quickly caught up, still holding their breath until everything returned to normal. Only then did they secretly heave a sigh of relief. Soon, nearly ten elevators opened simultaneously, and the executives entered in an orderly manner. Among them was Julian, accompanied by some invited media to film the entire process. It was a solemn and grand scene. It wasn’t until Celeste was dragged aside that she finally returned to reality. Chelsea was beyond exasperated. “What were you thinking?!” she whispered, anxious and angry. “Are you aware that you almost caused a major issue?! If the CEO were to investigate, my job would be in jeopardy! What are you doing, acting like a silly infatuated fool?!” However, Celeste had fallen deep into her own thoughts again, dumbfounded, having a hard time digesting the reality. The man I’m married to is the newly appointed CEO of Greatrep Group?! Moments later, she pulled her phone out and checked the news. In the high-end conference room, capable of accommodating hundreds of people, staff pushed the double doors open. With a dignified posture, her newlywed husband walked into the conference room with elegant and assured steps, surrounded by a crowd. The female secretary by his side had an exceptional figure and a good demeanor. She rarely smiled, exuding an icy allure. Whether it was his entrance, his speech upon assuming the position, or his plans for the company’s future, Julian’s composure and calmness earned rounds of applause. It was evident that he had gained absolute recognition from the company’s top executives. He held no script in his hand, nor did he show any signs of stage fright.
