Chapter Little pyromaniac
As we approached the building I kept fidgeting the ring on my finger.
What if the principal is as crazy as Raven?
What if he thinks that I’m too crazy for this place?
What if they kick me out?
What if they kill me?
Shut up. They won’t kill us. If they wanted to kill us, we would be already dead and they wouldn’t have made us switch the car.
That’s true, but I have my doubts.
Iron stopped in front of a big and black double doors. I stepped aside so I could see something since he is a freaking mountain. The doors were a matted black color and covered in different models. They looked like they represent all the elements since there are leafs, gusts of wind, snowflakes, raindrops, lightning bolts and stars. Even if they look so fascinating and you can see that it must took a lot of patience and talent to carve them, what really cached my eyes is the emblem in the middle. It has 3 lions on it: one white, one black, and one grey. The white and the black one are smaller then the grey one and they were under the grey one, sitting down at his feet, as if they were guarding him. The grey one was standing on his feet with his head held high, representing the power he has.
I’m wondering what this emblem represents.
“Why the fuck they looked the front doors?” Iron mumbled angrily as he knocked a little too hard on that door than I like.
A click noise was heard and Iron pushed the doors open. “Come on, Shadow.”
If the exterior was beautiful, the interior is not disappointing me. It looks like a very big school, maybe a college campus, because I can see lots of doors and teenagers walking around. The floor is black and in front of each door was a symbol indicating for what class that classroom is used. The walls are white, but I can barely see the white color because it was covered in graffitis with different images from angels to guns and symbols of the elements.
This place is amazing and it looks 10 times better then the academy, that’s for sure.
I agree. This place has personality.
Yeah, it has personality, but in the same time it gives you a welcoming feeling.
“What do you think until now?” Iron asked me and I snapped out of my trance.
“It’s amazing and gorgeous. I can’t describe in words how beautiful this place is.”
He nodded his head. “That’s exactly what I thought when I first came here. Now, let’s find Mr. Tornado.”
He started to walk not very slow. I sighed and jogged after him. I wish I had longer legs.
“His office is down this hall on the right side, and that is right here.” he stopped abruptly and I bumped into is back.
Somehow, I managed to stay on my legs, but my nose hurts.
Damn you fine boy with fine muscles.
“Sorry.” he said with a sheepish smile and he looks so cute.
I sighed. “It’s fine.” Come on guys! You can’t stay mad on someone with such a cute face.
My mind drifted to another pretty boy with a cute puppy face and my heart ached. I shook my head and ignored the feeling looking around.
On the right was a door with a plate that said Principal in cursive letters, unlikely Raven’s plate on which it was wrote with big bold letters. In front of the door, on the floor, was draw with white 2 books with an apple on them.
I chuckled at the irony with the professors and apples.
Iron knocked at the door and a man opened it. He was shorter than Iron, but how I said, Iron is a mountain. He was wearing a dark brown suit with a white tie. His hair was a brownish-redish color and his eyes were a warm brown color.
“Hi Mr. Tornado! I picked up the girl how you told me.” Iron said and suddenly I was between him and Mr. Tornado.
My eyes were as big as 2 apples and I was wondering how the fuck I got here since I was behind Iron 20 seconds ago.
“This is Shadow.” he said and I looked at the principal waiting for him to say something.
He looked at me for a second before his face breaks in a smile, leaving me confused. “Hello, little Shadow. I’m Blast Tornado and I’m the principal. Welcome to H.I.D.E. and I hope that we can help each other.” he said and suddenly hugged me while I stayed there awkwardly.
“Okay...” I said feeling so awkward, but I just couldn’t tell him to fuck off because he looks like a good and loving man. He reminds me of my dad.
Finally, he lets me go and I sighed in relief.
“Why are you so tensed little Shadow?” he asked he patted on my back. Or this is what he wanted because he kind of slapped me and I took 3 steps ahead.
He bend down and placed a hand on my head. “Are you okay? I’m so sorry little Shadow! I’m used to big and massive guys like Iron.”
I was a little annoyed that he still has his hand on my head, but I try to ignore it.
“It’s fine.”
“No, it’s not. I should thought that you are little and fragile and I must be c-”
“I SAID THAT I’M FINE, DAMN IT!” I yelled and the lights exploded.
God job, idiot. Now, he will hate us.
Shut the fuck up because no one asked you anything.
He retracted his hand and blinked looking at me. “Your powers are starting to lose control.”
I rolled my eyes. “No, they don’t. I always did this, even before I got my powers.”
He shook his head. “It’s normal things like this to happen, but it’s not normal to get angry this fast and we heard you talking with yourself.”
OOOO. They got yaa.
*mental middle finger*
“I-I can explain this...” I trailed off playing with my ring.
“You don’t have to because I already know what’s going on.” he said with a smile.
I furrowed my eyebrows. “You do?” I don’t know if I should be worried or if I should be happy about it.
“Yes, I do. I’ll explain you everything as I show you around. Iron go and find Knot. That idiot blew up the science lab again.”
Sounds like something I would do.
Iron nodded and left to search the little pyromaniac.
“Follow me, please.” he started to walk in the direct from where me and Iron came.
“As you know, H.I.D.E. is a place for elementars with problems. All of them are mental illness, because since the elementars use their mind 99% of the time, their only weakness became their mind. This is the only illnesses we can have, the mental ones, but here we can treat them. I’m not saying that they will completely disappear because some of them are untreatable, but we can stabilize them and help the elementars to live a normal life. Every person from this place has an illness from depression and bulimia to pyromania and psychopathy.” he said and we walked up on a pair of burgundy stairs.
Here, the walls are a pale yellow with lots of portraits on them.
“So, all of us are sick in some way. I understand this, but why are you helping us? With what helps you if you help us? What’s your interest because I don’t think that you do this just because you are such a warmhearted man.”
He looked at me with a sad smile. “That is half true. I decided to work in this place because my son had an illness too and the academy where he was studying kicked him out and killed him.”
This sounds like something Raven would do.
I know.
“I’m sorry for your son. Even if I don’t know him, he must be a golden boy because he has such a good role model.” I said in a soft voice.
He rubbed his eyes and smiled. “Thank you for your kind words, but it wasn’t necessary.”
I shrugged. “I know, but I don’t want to see any person feeling sad or miserable. I don’t want them to feel like I felt and how I sometimes still feel.”
“You are not a miserable person and sadness is normal. You can not feel the warmness of the sun without standing in the dark first.” he said and said hugged me.
But what if I’m stuck in the dark and the sun is dead?
“Thanks. Now go back to the story. You said that it’s half true.”
He nodded. “I’m not forcing anyone to repay me for what I’m trying to do, but if they want, they can help me to achieve my goal.”
“And what’s your goal and how can we help you.”
We walked down the hall of the first floor and stopped at the end of it, in front of a big window which was as big as the whole wall. From here, I can see the trees with the mountains behind them.
“H.I.D.E. is not the only place for elementars with mental illness. There are other 4 all over the world and we have two goals. Goal number 1 is to make you feel better and goal number 2 is to make peace.”
I looked at him and my eyes were about to pop out of my head. “To make peace? As the third side of the war? The rebellion?”
He smiled. “I see that you already know about how this war is evolving in reality. Yes, we are the rebellion and yes, we want peace. And that’s why we need all the help we can receive. To make peace we need to fight against Darks and against the Elementars, which is pretty difficult for us since we don’t have enough people, but slowly we are starting to gather more people and we already have people inside of each empire.”
I must say that I wasn’t expecting something like this. I thought that here I’ll find a bunch of crazy people. But this is a nice surprise and I totally support it.
This means that we have to stay. You know that, don’t you?
Yes, I know, but this place doesn’t looks so bad. Actually, it looks really good until now.
“I’ll help you too.”
He looked at me and smiled. “This are great news. Can I ask you why you want to help?”
I stared at the sky and smiled. “Because I promised someone that this princess will protect her kingdom and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”
“It’s very honorable for you to keep a promise made a long time ago.”
“How do you know that I made that promise a long time ago?” I asked confused.
“That promise sounds like a promise that only a dad could made his daughter to keep. I have a daughter too and she is my world since my son and my wife were killed.” he shook his head. “Back to business. We will have a considerable advantage since we have another royal on our side.”
“What do you mean another royal? There are another royals here? But how? The royals I know are either dead or not here.” I asked confused.
“Here we have Elementars and also Darks, and here we have only royals and nobles since they are stronger and we need powerful people.”
I blinked. Once. Twice.
So here, in this place are over 300 teenagers, all of them with a mental illness and all of them are either royals or nobles. Great.
Don’t forget about Darks!!
Thank you my dear voice, for remanding me.
I sighed. “Okay. I think that it’s too much information in a single day for me.”
He smiled and patted my back. “I understand. Your room is at floor 4 in the dorms building. And the room it’s also number 4.”
“Thank, but aaa....How do I get there.” I asked playing with my ring.
“Oh, right. I forgot that you’re new here. Go at the next floor and turn right instead of walking ahead, and keep walking. Then you will see a passage that will lead you to the dorms.”
I furrowed my eyebrows trying to remember all he said.
I nodded my head when I thought that I’ll be fine. “Thank you, Mr. Tornado.”
He shook his head. “You can call me Blast, little Shadow because here, all of us are a big family.”
I started to walk away and turned my head at him with a sad smile. “I’m sorry, but I don’t think that I’m ready for another family. At last not in this moment.”
“I understand, but when you’re ready, everybody is already here.” he said with a smile andi just nodded my head and walked away.
I won’t be ready too soon. I don’t even know if I’ll be ever ready to trust someone so much as I trusted them.
