Chapter 87
Chapter 87
The shout made both Gordon and I jolt back to our senses.
Gordon released me at once, and I jumped up from him as if I had been shocked with electricity. I stood up quickly, but it was too late.
Landon and Sabrina were already standing at the office door. Sabrina was holding a massive bouquet of gladioli, and the two were staring at us, their eyes bulging.
“Have… have I come at the wrong time?” Sabrina asked uneasily.
She had just graduated from university, after all, and she had turned bright red with embarrassment upon
seeing the scene.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Holmes. I–I didn’t think that this would happen.”
Landon was just as red. After all, whenever I had come to see Gordon in the past, we would always end up in a red–faced argument with each other, after which I would slink away as Gordon yelled at me.
A harmonious scene like the one Landon had just witnessed had never happened before.
“It’s alright. Why have you delivered them today, Sabrina?” Gordon asked calmly.
He was very experienced, after all. He regained his composure very quickly and sat back down in his chair, acting as if nothing had happened.
“A shipment of gladioli arrived in the shop today, and I felt that they would be perfect in your office. So I picked the freshest ones and came to deliver them to you. Oh, I also brought a vase,” Sabrina said quickly.
She walked up and put the bouquet of gladioli into a white, artistic–looking vase. Then she placed it in the corner of Gordon’s office.
In my past life, it had been around this time when I had begun to notice different kinds of flowers appearing in Gordon’s office.
Was I truly unable to prevent this from happening? Were they really destined to gradually grow closer?
I couldn’t help feeling irritated.
Gordon had walked around the office desk so that he was in front of Sabrina. He glanced at the gladioli
on the table.
“These flowers are pretty nice, and the vase is unique. That’s very thoughtful of you, Sabby.”
He was even calling her by a nickname.
I couldn’t help but feel even more bitter.
“Mr. Holmes, I think that the gladioli suit you very well because of how outstanding you are. This vase
really fits the decor of your office, too. Oh, right. I also brought you a small gift.”
Sabrina suddenly pulled something out of her bag and handed it to Gordon.

It looked familiar. I looked closely and saw that it was the small ornament that I had seen in Sabrina’s
flower shop that day. It was of a man and a woman. It was the same item Gordon had treasured so much. and kept in his office in my past life.
I hadn’t expected Sabrina to give it to him at this time.
“What’s this?” Gordon asked, frowning.
He took the ornament and examined it.
I
“Mr. Holmes, you might have forgotten already. Every summer when I was young, Hank would take me to Cedar Villa to stay temporarily, and I used to call you Gordie. Do you remember now?” Sabrina spoke very respectfully, but it suddenly dawned on Gordon after she mentioned it.
His eyes began to shine.
“I remember now. Were you that young girl who stayed with us in summer for a few years?”
“Yes, I was such a crybaby back then, and you loved teasing me. You even gave me a nickname and called me a doormat. Now that you remember, look at this sculpture. Do you remember anything from it?”
Sabrina’s tone had become energetic, and her eyes were shining. The two of them began talking as if they were the only ones in the room. They sank into their memories, and I immediately became the outsider
once more.
Gordon played absently with the ornament. Then, a thought seemed to occur to him, and he spoke immediately.
