The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 71

Chapter 71

I exchanged looks with my parents. Then I ran over and looked through the peephole.

Gordon was standing outside my door, laden down with bags.

Gordon?

Why was he visiting all of a sudden?

He had never bothered coming to my house before. Luke had bought all the gifts that he sent during festive occasions.

I stood at the door, stunned. Mom walked over when she saw that I hadn’t opened the door.

“Who’s at the door, Sweetie?”

“It’s Gordon.”

“Really?”

Mom was delighted. Before I could react, she pulled open the door,

“Oh, Gordon, it’s you! Come in, quick!”

Mom was ecstatic to see her son–in–law and immediately welcomed him in happily.

I glanced indifferently at him. I hadn’t contacted him since the day I yelled at him in the hospital.

I was confused to see him turn up at my house, and I felt somewhat awkward.

Gordon was smiling slightly as he handed Mom the gifts he was carrying.

“It’s Thanksgiving, so I came specially to spend it with you, Daisy. Here are some truffles, caviar, and some health supplements for you and Charles

Gordon was playing the part of a son–in–law very well. He didn’t just bring health supplements. He waved to Luke, who immediately carried in several boxes of cigars and red wine. He had really pulled out all the

stops.

“Hello, Gordon. Come in,”

Dad had also walked over. Although he had just criticized Gordon, he was still happy to see him, and he was beaming.

“Don’t stand in the doorway. It’s cold.”

Gordon was about to enter. Perhaps it was because he saw that I was still standing at the door, but he turned and took my hand very naturally.

This was the first time he had been so affectionate with me in front of my parents. I jumped as if I had had an electric shock. I tried to pull my hand away, but he grabbed it forcefully and pulled me down to sit at the dining table.

Mom had set another place at the table, and after he sat down beside me, he immediately filled his own glass with wine. He toasted my parents respectfully and said some diplomatic things.

There was a saying about how parents would gradually fall in love with their sonsin–law.

Gordon’s performance made Dad instantly forget about the things he disliked about Gordon.

He grinned delightedly as he clinked glasses with Gordon. The two of them began talking about the current economic trends domestically and abroad, as well as the current development of the collaborative project between Holmes Group and Radglo Corporation.

While the men were talking, Mom and I had nothing to add to the conversation, so we sat beside them and listened quietly.

I couldn’t help looking sideways at Gordon.

He wasn’t dressed in a suit today. He had on casual clothes, with a light gray sweater over a white T–shirt and cream–white pants. In contrast to his usual stern demeanor, he seemed much more approachable

today.

If my memory served me right, I was the one who had brought these clothes back for him from abroad. when we had first gotten married.

At the time, my entire focus had been on him, so even when I went abroad all I thought about was bringing back clothes and skincare products for him. However, Gordon never even looked twice at the items I brought back. He always thought they were too cheap and merely stuffed them away in the closet.

He left the skincare products untouched until they expired.

However, today, he was wearing the clothes that I had bought him.

“Had he grown a conscience?” I muttered to myself in consternation.

He suddenly picked up my bowl and filled it to the brim with caviar before putting it back in front of me.
