The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 55

Chapter 55

Chapter 55

I never imagined Sabrina to have such a connection with the Holmes family.

Marcus used to be Hank’s chauffeur, and now Luke works as Gordon’s chauffeur. Not only that, but the Holmes family also supported her education.

Despite her modest background, she excelled at the piano, reaching a Grade 10 level. The Holmes family’s unwavering support was the driving force behind her success.

Everything finally made sense.

It became apparent why she had quickly formed a close bond with Gordon in the past. Even my in–laws began to warm up to her gradually, explaining the shift in their behavior toward her.

I stood silently next to them and listened to their conversation.

Upon hearing her explanation, Gordon expressed, “My to your father.

u owes n

“He sacrificed his life attempting to rescue my father, and this act has burdened my father with guilt ever

since.

“I never anticipated seeing you working for Holmes Group. You could have easily had your brother reach out to me so I could arrange a better position for you.”

He disclosed additional information that surprised me further.

It appeared Marcus had a more profound role than just being Hank’s chauffeur. He had also died while trying to rescue Hank. This revelation caught me entirely off guard.

“I’ve just graduated, and I still need more experience. I’m doing well in the planning department, and Ms. Dawson has been very supportive of me.”

Sabrina’s smile was pure and infectious, making one feel inexplicably hopeful.

Gordon continued chatting with her, asking about her family’s current situation and academic progress. They engaged in a lively exchange and gradually grew at ease with each other’s company.

I hadn’t seen him care for someone so attentively in a long time..

He patiently chatted with her and took a moment to peel a banana and hand it to her.

The entire time, he never seemed to notice me and Hector in the room. It felt like we were simply the

backdrop to their conversation.

Their discussion revolved around their past connections, leaving no room for us to intervene. As I listened to them, I couldn’t shake off a growing sense of melancholy inside me.

I wondered if their meeting was predetermined by fate.

Some encounters were meant to be irreversible, right?

Even if I tried my best to intervene, to obstruct their meeting in any way, would it all be in vain

Chapter 55

Sabrina had successfully appeared in front of Gordon, and by chance, she had saved his life.

From now on, no matter what perspective he looked at her from, wouldn’t he treat her with special care?

And what could I say or do about all of this?

The sensation of helplessness, rendering one incapable of action or speech, was undeniably stifling.

I felt I should give them some alone time together. There was no need for me to stay and embarrass

myself.

I quietly left the ward, and Gordon didn’t even notice my departure.

Hector soon followed me out. He silently walked with me to the hospital entrance.

As the night progressed, the moon waned. It cast the city into increasing darkness, evoking a sense of gloominess.

Hector patted my shoulder.

“How about a drink with me?”

“Sure,” I replied with little enthusiasm.

He shook his head and gestured for me to follow him to his car. He drove me to his club, where we

settled into a VIP room.

“This champagne is from my collection. I bought it at an auction. Let’s have it tonight.”

He retrieved a limited edition expensive champagne and two flutes from his private cabinet. Then, he popped it open.

“When did you become so generous, Mr. Judd?” I couldn’t help but ask with a smile.

“Seeing you looking downcast, I couldn’t resist relinquishing my wine and joining the lovely lady!”

Hector winked at me before passing one of the flutes.

Tonight’s mood was indeed indescribably bitter. I raised the flute and drank it in one gulp.

This champagne truly lived up to its reputation from the auction house. It was sweet and delicious, with a rich flavor.

I finished one glass and poured another. As I was about to pour a third, Hector quickly stopped me. “Take it easy. This wine might be sweet, but it packs quite a punch.”
