The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 53

Chapter 53

Chapter 53

“This is an accident, and nobody saw this coming. Don’t beat yourself up too much.”

Hector’s voice suddenly broke through the silence.

With a reassuring pat on my shoulder, he seemed to comprehend the swirling emotions within me and offered solace in the face of unforeseen circumstances.

“What’s the point of me being upset? Hector, do you think you can read my mind?”

His consolation at this moment felt like irony to me, and I didn’t want anyone to see through my thoughts.

He looked at me with understanding as I retorted, subtly conveying sympathy.

He gently offered, “Would you like to go to the hospital with us? I’ll drive.”

“Wait. Let’s first figure out the waiter’s motives.”

I shook my head and gradually returned to my rational mind. I hadn’t forgotten that I was still Mrs. Holmes. With such an incident happening at the gala, it was crucial to understand what exactly had

occurred.

“Alright,” Hector responded gravely.

At that moment, Selena showed up, and the two of them stayed by my side.

The police promptly arrived, efficiently assessed the situation, and apprehended the male walter. The three of us trailed behind them to the police station.

During the police interrogation, the male server immediately confessed.

It turned out that six months ago, his father had an accident while working on a construction site affiliated with Holmes Group. His father fell from a height and was paralyzed.

The company generously compensated their family, but the waiter, a compulsive gambler, quickly squandered it all.

He then tried to extort money from the company using his father’s name, but his unreasonable demands were rejected. This led to him harboring resentment.

Driven by mounting debts, he developed a grudge against Gordon, the CEO of Holmes Group. Thus, he specifically took the job as a waiter in the hotel to seize an opportunity to attack Gordon.

Such desperate and ruthless gamblers would stop at nothing.

Fortunately, the situation wasn’t too complicated. The police assured us they would handle the case and ensure appropriate punishment for the perpetrator.

After resolving the matter, Héctor and Selena accompanied me out of the police station.

At my lack of enthusiasm, Hector asked me again, “Do you want to go to the hospital?”

Chapter 53

“Yeah. Let’s go,” I replied in a low voice.

Then, dragging my weary body. Selena and I got into his Maybach.

While en route to the hospital, Selena asked curiously, “Who is that woman? And how did she end up saving Gordon?”

I shook my head. I couldn’t fully comprehend the situation that had unfolded so quickly before me.

“Maybe it was just a coincidence,” Hector said softly.

He glanced at me occasionally while driving, but I couldn’t even muster the energy to respond.

I didn’t understand why I felt so heavy–hearted.

Didn’t I know that Gordon and Sabrina were destined to meet and fall in love?

Then, why did I feel upset when I witnessed it happening before my eyes?

Could it be that I still loved him?

No, that was impossible. I vowed never to fall for Gordon again when I got a second chance at life. Perhaps I was just unwilling to accept it.
