The next morning, Lyra woke up early, determined to tell Amara and Gabriel about her visions. She knew that they would be waking up soon, and she wanted to be ready for them. She took a deep breath, steeled herself, and made her way to their room.
As she entered the room, she saw Amara and Gabriel lying in bed, still sleeping and looking so relaxed. Lyra took a step forward, her heart pounding in her chest.
When Amara and Gabriel awoke, they were surprised to find Lyra sitting on the edge of their bed. “Good morning, sweetheart,” Gabriel said, ruffling her hair affectionately. “What’s got you so wound up this early in the morning?”
“I need to talk to you both about something important,” Lyra said, her voice shaking slightly. “I had these visions last night, and I think they might be about… you.”
Amara and Gabriel exchanged a glance, then turned back to Lyra, their faces filled with concern. “Tell us everything,” Gabriel said, his voice calm and reassuring.
Lyra’s words hung in the air like a dark cloud, casting a shadow over the group. No one spoke, the weight of her prophecy too heavy to bear. It was as if she had revealed a deep, hidden truth that had been lurking just beneath the surface.
“A close friend will betray us?” Amara repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. “Who could it be?”
Lyra’s eyes flickered towards each of them, her gaze lingering on each face. “I cannot see the future clearly,” she said. “But I know that the betrayal will come from someone you trust, someone you have confided in and considered a friend.”
Gabriel’s jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with anger. “I don’t believe it,” he said. “I don’t believe anyone we know would betray us.”
But Lyra’s expression was unyielding. “I have seen it, Gabriel. I have seen the darkness that lies within some of those you hold dear. You must be careful, for the line between loyalty and betrayal is thin and easily crossed.”
The group fell silent, each lost in their thoughts. They had always been a tight-knit group, trusting each other with their deepest secrets. But now, they couldn’t help but wonder if one of their own was hiding a secret, a secret that could tear them apart.
“What can we do?” Amara asked, her voice trembling. “How can we protect ourselves?”
Lyra’s eyes softened, her expression filled with compassion. “You must trust in each other,” she said. “You must stand together and support each other, for the trials that are to come will be great. And you must also be prepared to face the truth, no matter how painful it may be.”
The group nodded, their resolve strengthened by Lyra’s words. They knew that they would face whatever came their way together, as a team. But the shadow of Lyra’s prophecy still lingered, a reminder that not all was as it seemed in their little group of friends.
Gabriel’s eyes locked onto Lyra’s, his intensity unnerving. “Now tell us about this prophecy that you saw about us,” he said, his voice low and urgent.
Lyra took a deep breath before beginning her tale. “I saw a vision of a great and terrible battle,” she said, her voice trembling. “A battle that will determine the fate of our world, and of all the worlds beyond.”
“What kind of battle?” Amara asked, her voice filled with fear.
Lyra hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. “I saw armies of darkness, armies of light,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “And in the midst of it all, I saw you, Amara, and Gabriel. You were the leaders of the armies of light, fighting against an ancient and powerful enemy.”
Amara felt a shiver run down her spine as she listened to Lyra’s words. She had always known that there was something special about her, but she had never imagined anything like this. The idea of being leaders of armies of light, fighting against an ancient and powerful enemy, was both exhilarating and terrifying.
“How did you see this?” Gabriel asked, his voice slightly rough. “Was it a vision or a dream?”
Lyra shook her head. “It wasn’t just a vision or a dream,” she said. “I saw it with my own eyes. I was there, in the thick of the battle. And I saw you, Amara and Gabriel, standing tall and strong, leading your armies into the fray.”
Gabriel’s grip on Amara’s hand tightened, his eyes flashing with determination. “I will not let that prophecy come to pass,” he said, his voice filled with conviction. “We will not allow our world to be destroyed.”
Lyra nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. “I know,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I saw another vision, of a different future. One where we defeat the darkness and bring peace to our world.”
Gabriel’s grip on Amara’s hand loosened, a small smile playing on his lips. “Then let us go forth and make that future a reality,” he said, his voice filled with hope.
Amara felt a surge of determination well up inside of her. If what Lyra was saying was true, then they had a great responsibility on their shoulders. They had to prepare themselves for this battle and make sure that they were ready to face whatever lay ahead.
“We have to tell Drakon,” Amara said, making a decision. “He needs to know what we’re facing.”
Lyra nodded in agreement. “Yes, he does,” she said. “But first, we need to understand more about this enemy. We can’t go into battle without knowing what we’re up against.”
And so, the group headed to the library in the castle to search for more information about the prophecy that Lyra had witnessed.
